Buggenhout sits smack dab in the middle of the Antwerp/Ghent/Brussels triangle. In that village (which most in Flanders seems to have, actually Buggenhout has 2!) is a brewery called Bosteels. Family owned for 7 generations over 200 or so years, they make a few famous brews. The most famous probably being the Tripel Karmeliet, made of oats, wheat, and barley, from the Carmelite monastery in Dendermonde from the 1600s. It's complexity and tastiness come from this blend of three grains. Citrus, vanilla on the nose and palate, slightly sour and simultaneously sweet too.
