Half way through, my Steering pump decided to liberate its self from the engine block but oddly stayed bound/functional by the serpentine belt. I was lucky, never would have guessed the luck soon to come. I called 2-3 shops in the area. Andrew picked up and despite my polite but disgruntled temperament he helped shelter my truck/rig from the rain. Chester and Daniel also technicians, chipped in with great wisdom and modern secret tricks of the trade. I pulled out the pump, Andrew pulled out the two remnant sheared bolts . And I threw that mother lover back in drove off into the rain drenched sun. As a former mechanic, these guys have hearts of gold and were funny as hecuba. Sharp, team oriented, honest. Fabric cut from the right cloth. Treasure of South Oregon. Much gratitude. I am super grateful.

Called Gene's while on the road and Tyler said he had a cancellation and could take a look. Tyler and crew said that the pads were good and that the rotors must have generated a little too much heat and created some warping. They turned the rotors to smooth the surface back out. Just three weeks earlier, I had spent nearly $4,000 in California having the turbocharger repaired, only to have the truck go into limp mode while I was in Oregon. Bona Fide got me fixed up and back on the road. They were also able to clear some incredibly annoying dashboard codes that I'd previously been told only the dealer could clear. But what really earned my loyalty happened eight months later. I started hearing a whistle when using the exhaust brake and called Bona Fide. They told me it was likely a failing gasket and, without any prompting from me, said that if it turned out to be one of the gaskets they'd replaced in December, they would repair it under warranty at no charge. I brought the truck back, and sure enough, it was one of those gaskets. They stood behind their work and repaired it at absolutely no charge. No excuses, no trying to convince me it was something else, and no surprise bill. They simply honored their warranty and did what they said they would do. That's how you earn a customer. Bona Fide is knowledgeable, capable, and--just as importantly--honest. They've earned my trust and my loyalty. As long as I can get my truck to Roseburg, I'm not taking it anywhere else for repairs. Highly recommended. Steve at Bona Fide is truly an awsome human being.
