These desserts are beautiful and delicious even after carrying around for a day!!! Macaroons were good, caramel my favorite but a little chewy and crème brûlée was a little too rich and I'm a sugar fiend, but not as good as the other desserts!! I will go back!!

Beautiful! Absolutely stunning in presentation for guests when you're having a dinner party -and…read moredelicious! My pastries were made to perfection. I rarely give glowing reviews of perfection but this little shop deserves it! Upon entrance, you'll notice it's a small shop with a smaller selection of pastries than some other bakeries around. But look closer and you'll see several intricate items, such as chocolates in the shape of a ball with swirls of color. It's near Christmas now so I'm unsure of the selection during the non-holiday season. Currently there are so many options for gifts. Ordered a latte (really good) to go with the lemon tart and tonka pastries. If you do the same, I recommend consuming the Tonka first. It's super rich and creamy in texture but lighter in flavor. Good on its own, but difficult to taste the flavor next to the knock your socks off lemon tart. The lemon tart was the perfect blend of sugar & tartness. It was all so good that we left with two more, plus two boxes of petite pastries, some macarons (these were alright but nothing close to Laduree -a bit too sweet and too saturated with coloring), and chocolates. Additionally, the gentleman that helped us was really friendly and spoke English.

In fact a fourth generation Baker, great-grandfather Georg having originally opened shop in 1907 before moving to the current location, those interested in Konditorei & Confiserie Jamin's goods will find the Café open Monday through Saturday from 10h00, a lack of Breads or Viennoiserie placing them in a different category than nearby competition including the likes of Huck and Eifler. Long and narrow in terms of size, Pralines plus packaged Confections up front and Cakes lining a case in back, it is largely on German tradition that Cathérine's current collection is focused, 3-5€ each first yielding a dense slice of Spice Cake punctuated by Sour Cherries that serves equally good as Dessert as it would for Breakfast alongside a cup of Coffee. Allowing next for Austrian influence, genrous wedges of Sacher Torte for just 4.10€ dazzling with reflective Milk Chocolate Ganache and Apricot Jam brightening a Dark Chocolate Sponge, it seemed only right to finish with Jamin's take on Black Forest Cake, the individual rounds decorated in Cocoa shavings potentially Frankfurt's best rendition thanks to boozy Fruit that celebrates the Kirsch part of Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte.

For ambience this place gets 5 stars. They have an extensive drinks menu including 12 different types of hot chocolate. They have cafe food and you can get a decent meal here. I have been here a few times and love it. The pastries and hot chocolate are good and the staff are very helpful. They also have a nice self made ice cream counter which had a handful of flavours. I have had the Eis once before and it was quite ok. I love it here and will be back for a drink or a meal once in a while. It's a gorgeous place in town for chocoholics and lovers of good pastries :-)

Secondly, the food. THE FOOOOOOOD. Their carrot cake is so moist and juicy that I could die right after eating it and die a happy person. They offer cute little to-go boxes for those not interested in dining inside or are on the go, as well. Annabatterie offers a variety of baked goods as well as small eats, coffee and tea, and even some alcoholic beverages. They also offer patrons a nice outdoor area, weather permitting. It is nice finding places like this in Mainz's neustadt and not littered with tourists in the old city. Either way, this place would make a killing. But it just fits better on a quiet street in the heart of a residential area. I am often in Mainz and this is my go-to place. I hope you get a chance to check it out.
