I go online and fill it out I'm continuously searching for interest rates and repayment, because well, it matters. Can't find anything go ahead and continue to the end thinking maybe it'll show up there. It does not. It says congratulations you've been approved. And I'm like, I don't even know if I want it. So I had to call the number...I NEED DETAILS.... The girl I spoke with was rude, nothing unusual there. I asked her what the interest rate was she said 80.2%. I thought I was going to hurl. Thankfully I dont need the money.....YOWZA...I asked her nicely to please cancel the loan. She hung up on me. (there are words for people like that...but I hold my tongue) Had to call back and got another representative and told her that the lady just hung up on me and I recently applied for a loan, thank goodness they wanted more information like proof of income and yada yada. There is absolutely no way in hell I would ever give them my bank account information. These people are nothing but scammers. 80%. Jesus Christ. The interest rate was very high, but they were very helpful.I had no problems during my loan. I even had to change my payment date which was no problem, and it didn't cost any extra. Then you put in your information (including social security number), do the capcha thing, and they send you an email to continue. If you have a Gmail address you will not receive an email. Why? If I could rate a zero I would. I did this loan because I was going through a financial difficulty and needed the cash right away. I have been making payments for three years now. At the time of my making the loan, I asked if I could change the date of the payment. They told me no but they could adjust it monthly. The payment dates did not coordinate well with my paychecks. So I made payment adjustments for the dates. That cost me an additional $2000. So not only did I pay $5200 in interest, I have additional interest of $2000 because I moved payment back five days. This is 100% complete scam. When they tell you that you will accrue interest for those extra days, they don't tell you that it will be in the thousands of dollars. I didn't it I just this by months, it was only days. Stay away from this company. I wish I had used yelp back when I took this loan. I'm trying to fix my credit so I don't want to affect my credit by not paying this. But it is 100% a complete scam. I'm considering even notifying the local television station to let them do a story on it so that others don't get caught up in this. It is shocking to me how completely fucked up this company is: Like many others on here, I received a pre-approval in the mail. I also, like many others, DID NOT REQUEST THIS WHATSOEVER. I desperately needed financial help after my father unexpectedly passed away recently. So I went on their website to see if this was another scam and researched details with the application. I was informed by email that my application would be valid for a period of time and I was given a date to provide information they requested (approximately one week). They told me that my application would be denied and closed if I had not responded by this date. Before responding to them, I actually checked out all the negative Yelp reviews and decided NOT TO CONTINUE. The assholes at Brookwood CONSTANTLY called my phone and sent emails WELL AFTER the date they were supposed to close my application. After getting BOMBARDED with emails and phone calls, I finally responded and said "CANCEL MY APPLICATION. I CANNOT AFFORD THE ASTRONOMICAL INTEREST CHARGES. ALSO PLEASE STOP CONTACTING ME ABOUT THIS MATTER. I RECENTLY LOST MY FATHER AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS. PLEASE RESPECT THAT AND CANCEL MY APPLICATION," The response I got to that, was "sorry. Please rethink this loan and send me a copy of your ID and pay stubs," I'm not sure how I could have been more clear that I wanted to be left alone, and they kept persisting. They kept implying that they would work with my circumstances, so being in a financially vulnerable place, I decided to finally try this Brookwood Loans place. So I sent all the pertinent information they asked for, only to be sent an automated denial email. After literally going back and forth with this company for over a damn week. I just finished paying off a loan of an original amount of $500. This is the lowest amount they will apparently lend, understandably so due to my financial situation at the time, which I admit was poor. But I was very happy that they were able to provide quick and polite service and help me out. Aside from a couple occasions where I called to postpone a payment, this $500 loan was repaid on time and in full. Aware that my credit situation still isn't the best, it was my hope that my history with Brookwood would provide the littlest bit of leverage in my application for a new loan. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I received an email letter of denial literally within minutes of having submitted my application. There's a heap of thanks for my business, I guess. And a big thanks to Brookwood...... NOT. So, just know that if you ever receive an offer for a "pre-approved" loan from Brookwood in the mail, it's the only loan you're ever going to get from them. I'm a current customer of Brookwood, I think the way around paying back so much interest is to just pay it back quickly My loan was for 4 years it's only been 2 years and my loan will be done in November of this year. My payments are reasonable, I'm satisfied with what I got and they were there for me when I was in a tough spot. So I read these posts but I already took out a loan from them in 12/2015 to get a car and now they are suing me! I paid for over a year and about $35 out of $261 was for the actual loan and then I was in an accident where I was in the hospital, broke leg and foot at the same time and got disability and couldn't afford to pay them. I contacted them to let them know and then finally just didn't pay them and figured it would go on my credit report and it has, as a write off and then suddenly an attorney contacts me and says I am going to be sued and would I like his services? I looked it up and sure enough they sued me for $3400! I was served in the laundry room and called them to make arrangements and they want $400 down in a week and then I will have payments of $179 monthly. When I ask what happened to my payments for over a year they gave me some line about how they were expecting $9,000 to pay off my loan so $3400 is a deal and not only that, but the person I'm talking to is rude! Tells me how many times do I have to tell you this? So I agree to these terms cause I don't want to have my wages garnished or my bank account messed with but they won't even put the agreement in writing until after I give them the $400. I need help, people. Someone please tell me what to do! I want this gone already but don't have the $2000 they offered to settle for. You do not want them to have your personal information, and they do not even bother to train their staff who will then start emailing and calling you--but have no idea what they are doing (because they were never trained). Interest for these loans can be 116 percent, and this is the other reason not to bother with this place. I sent them a note to cancel my loan request because we did not want to deal with their untrained (probably underpaid!) staff. Worst financial decision ever. Was in a bind for money thought I could pay it back off in few months when I sold my boat didnt happen. I v been paying a year 250 a month and all of that for the last four months has gone straight too interest just for being a week late on the payments each time. Only about 12 $ a month was going towards loan when it was on time. I was threatened too be sent too collections for being a week behind. This bank is the definition of crooks. I paid it off in full per what they told me - twice the payment was returned to me (their way to add interest) then the third time they finally got it and now say I still owe another almost $200 in interest! Brookwood was able to give me a loan when I really needed it. I was aware of the incredibly high interest rate. Yes, they are really good at letting you know when your payment is due with reminder emails. However, I believe that they cater to those that are in a financial bind and take advantage of that with that higher than should be legal interest rate. Best bet if you have to get a loan from them, like I did, is to pay it off as soon as you possibly can. There are better loans out there without 116% APR. Had I to do it over again, I wouldn't. read more

Really bad company! They screw you over like you have no idea! They sent me a pre approved letter, I debated a few weeks whether to take it or not since I'm trying to build my credit. Finally I just decided to take it- WORST DECISION OF MY LIFE! I thought ok, I'll just pay it off way sooner and give more than the minimum payments each month... Well paid 260 for 5 months... Initial loan was 2600... So I'm here thinking it must have gone down some since I've already pd about 1300+... I checked the balance and i still owed 2700!!!! How sick is that?! Never ever recommending them! Plus I spoke to someone about sending a payoff check and I was told I would be given a 5 day grace period for the check to get there and get processed... Well when it finally got there and posted to the account I called to get the balance of $59 removed because of the grace period... And they made a fuss and said they NEVER SAID SUCH THING!! I bet if you are complaining that it took too long you still went with that company and got the $ , and the others you are probably just angry and bitter in general, they were very helpful with my loan and it took 10-15 mins to process and "review" and I got the $ in my account by end of the day. I would give a negative star rating if available. I received a prequalified offer for $3500 from Brookfield Loans of Illinois in the mail today. I had never heard of them and certainly did not contact them for information or a loan. I was curious about them so I googled them. I was really interested in what their interest rates were. I couldn't like a direct link to their rates so I check the FAQ page and found the link there. After you select your state the list comes up. I almost had a heart attack when I saw how high they were! If you borrow $500 the interest ranges from 96%-98% for a payment from $66.35 to 66.92 with 12 months to repay. If you borrow the max amount allowed $2001, the interest rate is 78.39%, payment amount is $167.37 with 24 months to repay. All I have to say is are they crazy and is this even legal? For those considering a loan with this company I say - DON'T DO IT! YOU WILL REGRET IT LATER!!! read more

This placed deserves to be shut down. I received a $2500 loan at 96% interest. The interest rate appalled me at the time, but I desperately needed the funds; in order to prevent a family member from being evicted. I was instantly approved, but still waited a few days to consider all options. The primary reason I decided to go with Brookwood is because an agent promised me that the interest rate was fixed (not variable). After 20 months of diligently paying the bill, I called to close out the amount left on the account. Not only was the agent, Heather, rude when answering my simple questions, but she informed me that I had a balanced of roughly $2000 still left to pay. This is far above the $645 that I assumed was left. When I asked to speak with the manager, Amy generously answered all of my questions, but still tried ton placate me. She acknowledged that her agent may have verbally promised a fixed interest rate, but the company as a standard practice does 36 month, variable rates. Her politeness does not excuse her corruption. I will be filing a formal Better Business Bureau complaint with them, and contacting their local Chamber of Commerce. I encourage anyone who has had negative dealings with this company to do the same. read more
