Ask the Community - Brookside Academy Preschool

Does Stepping Stones offer after school care for Kindergarteners? Is there a pick up van?

Although they do offer after school care, there is no transportation available.

Ms. Suri (director) and Ms. Jacquelyn (asst director) we're professional, knowledgeable and friendly from the start. Oh! And understanding! They communicated openly and thoroughly with us, answered all of questions more than once. The teachers at the school, Ms. Bianca, Ms. Kelly, Ms. Amber, Ms. Ramona and Ms. Charity were the few that I had the pleasure of meeting during the short time our daughter attended. They all were approachable and easy to talk to. They answered our questions and gave detailed feedback about our daughters time there. If they could some how expand their services to include smaller ratio classes for children with special learning, developmental and behavioral needs then we would continue to have our daughter attend but our daughter needs extra care and attention that right now the school cannot accommodate. It's a wonderful, beautiful, clean environment and the staff are professional and friendly and from what I saw good with the young children. I recommend this childcare facility and like I said if they offered the services our child needs we'd return.

Your care, patience, and genuine love for the kids do not go unnoticed. You each created such a meaningful bond with my children, and that connection is something every parent hopes for but doesn't always find. We transferred our son from another school, and the difference has been like night and day. He became more confident, happy, and excited to learn. Seeing that transformation reassured us we made the right decision. Now both of our sons attend this school, and it has been such a blessing. Our oldest is graduating TK this year, which is such a special milestone for our family. We've been part of this school since September 2024, and we truly appreciate the positive environment and support we've experienced throughout. Thank you for pouring into our children and making this season so meaningful for them - and for us as parents.

A very special shout-out to my son's infant teachers, Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Yanin, and my daughter's preschool teacher, Ms. Daisy. They are incredibly patient, compassionate, and kind. You can truly see how much they love the kids, and it shows in the way they interact with them every day. I also want to recognize the director, Mrs. Greta, for her leadership and for retaining such wonderful staff during a difficult transition. One of the things we appreciate most about this school is that there is very little staff turnover, which says so much about the environment and leadership. The consistency means everything to families and to the kids. Thank you as well to Ms. Brittany and Ms. Kendra! Every teacher who has been part of my children's care has been phenomenal. Another thing we love is that the program is STEM-based and the kids use very little technology, which is so refreshing. Each month they highlight an artist, an author, and a science theme, and the kids participate in science experiments, creative projects, and tons of fun hands-on activities. Communication is excellent, the pricing is very reasonable, and the recent changes have been wonderful. We especially love the new app and being able to check in and see our kiddos during the day--it brings so much peace of mind. As someone who works in a public school, I can honestly say my daughter is THRIVING here. She is learning so much and is incredibly advanced for her age. We're so happy that we're planning to keep her here for TK and possibly kindergarten because the foundation she is getting is amazing. I always tell people that if the new company ever changed the way Ms. Greta runs this school, we'd be out of there--but thankfully the quality of education and staff retention have remained strong and consistent. It takes a special kind of person to care for and teach young children, and this team does it with so much love. My kids are always in good hands here, and we are beyond grateful.

If you plan to send your child to an early Army school than stop reading if not keep going. This is a HORRIBLE school! I will not go into details but my child needed therapy from this school after I pulled her out. She was bullied and made fun of being a bigger girl. Her whole behavior changed at home, she also came home with new curse words in Spanish, she kept on telling me who it was, I kept on bringing it up to school they denied it. We have no connection with Spanish, as a retaliation they made up a story and took time to call CPS on us because we had a voice and concerns, after school district visiting her in the class it assured me that I was right, she definitely had some issues. She would cry everyday not wanting to go. I should have listened to her, I pulled her out and enrolled her into our home school, as weeks went by starting trusting school with so much support given to her and my concerns were heard, my child is back to being happy and now cries the day she doesn't have school. Always listen to your child, keep records. There is so much more to say but I rather not. It's sad we are forced to put our children in school because we need to go to work trusting these people our children. This school is bad news, it's not a perfect fit for everyone. No holiday celebrations of any, no happiness, no celebration on anything, extremely strict, oh and the best one is them constantly mentioning the safety of your child making it sound as we are careless, don't care about our children as much as they do, they lecture you as if you are an idiot and they know it all and you know nothing, they lie to cover their own mistakes to make you look like the bad guy and they are so innocent, they cover for each others even when I complained to the upper hand, and to top it off they make you do surveys with your name on it where you can't secretly complain worrying about retaliation against your child. Writing this does not give me justice for what my child went through there! Do your research and good luck!

If you're looking for a safe, clean environment, competent administration, structured learning, and…read morestability with trusted adults, then do NOT send your child to Discovery Isle in Murrieta. To be fair, there are some truly exceptional teachers here--Ms. Blake, Ms. Cathy, and Ms. Tina genuinely care about the children and made a positive impact on our family. Unfortunately, the overall quality of the school declined significantly during the 2.5 years my children were enrolled. While there were numerous concerns, the two biggest issues were safety and administration. Safety Concerns * The cameras mounted in each classroom appear operational but are actually nonfunctional. I understood from the beginning they were not intended as a live feed for parents, but I was under the impression that they recorded incidents for later review if concerns arose. I was disappointed to learn that was not the case. * The playground is not privately enclosed, making it visible from the parking lot. Any weirdo or creep on the street can observe the children at play. * Classroom windows have no curtains or coverings, leaving little opportunity to reduce visibility from outside during an emergency. * During a recent (~April 2026) threat that was reportedly made against Discovery Isle locations, administration chose to notify parents by email rather than through an immediate mass text alert. In a situation involving a potential safety threat, I expected a faster and more direct method of communication. Administrative Concerns * School communications--including emails, text messages, and newsletters--frequently contained spelling and grammatical errors. While this may seem minor, it reflected a lack of attention to detail from the leadership team. * If your childcare expenses are supplemented through a third-party program (ours was through the military), carefully review your invoices. On multiple occasions we had to follow up because credits were not applied correctly. This resulted in thousands LOST due to the credits not being applied and too much time lapsed for us to receive those funds. * Communication with administration was consistently frustrating. Phone calls and emails often went unanswered, leaving in-person conversations as the only reliable option. But in person conversations are not a viable option, given that administration will fabricate communications or imply that they never happened. (Pro tip: get EVERYTHING in writing with them. Even the things that don't seem important) * In our experience, administration appeared to form lasting opinions about children based on isolated incidents. Once a child was labeled as having "behavioral issues," it often felt as though every interaction was viewed through that lens. We received frequent calls describing incidents that seemed exaggerated compared to what classroom teachers reported. * When we attempted to discuss concerns directly, we often felt dismissed rather than heard. Conversations felt one-sided, with little willingness to consider parent feedback or collaborate on solutions. Ultimately, these ongoing issues led us to enroll our children elsewhere. The difference has been remarkable. Since changing schools, we've seen significant improvements in our children's happiness, confidence, learning, and overall development. The supposed "behavioral problems" have all ceased to exist, demonstrating the importance of who you entrust your children with. Every family's experience may be different, but based on ours, I cannot recommend Discovery Isle in Murrieta. I encourage parents to thoroughly research their options, ask detailed questions about safety procedures and administrative practices, and trust their instincts when choosing a school for their children.

Our son had a tough time adjusting during his first couple of weeks, and the teachers supported him (and us!) with so much compassion and encouragement. Their genuine care made all the difference.
