There was a lot of outdoor seating, a picnic table under a gazebo and a large patio overlooking the water. There was a full wheelchair ramp that went into the cafe and also right to the patio. The woman working there was lovely. She told me that there were more treats that she was still putting out in the showcase and to tell her what we wanted based on the tags. A butter tart square (that looked mass produced, like you can buy lots of places across the country) for my husband. A chocolate peanut butter swirl for me - which turned out to be a homemade chocolate peanut butter snack cake with icing. I was pretty happy with my choice. :)

The last time I was there, my jaw actually dropped at the size of the two over easy eggs on my plate! I'm sure they come from a local supplier - these wouldn't fit into the normal grocery store egg categories. Hashbrowns are also phenomenal. And, I don't know another local diner in the area that gives you a breakfast plate with homemade, thick cut toast, dripping in butter along with breakfast meat that will go above and beyond any other diner's attempt to satisfy. Trust me, this plate of awesomeness is not for the faint of heart, but it's bar none the best breakfast in all of Pictou County. Opt for the sausages - you won't be disappointed. And then make sure who ever is with you gets the bacon. Cause you'll obviously want to try a strip of that, too. Service is laid back. Coffee is fine - it's diner quality, and that's fine by me. The floors creak and the locals pretty much have assigned seating. Tables are small and the ceilings are low, but it's all part of the atmosphere, folks! Not only is Ben's home of some great breads they as well have some nice treats. Bags of cookies come in about three kinds with Ginger Snaps being my favourite and yes they are back. As well there is a wide variety of cakes as well for the sugar tooth. Jelly rolls as well as chocolate rolls. I as well discovered that they sell the body wise bread cheaper then the grocery store so I often find myself running there to pick it up. I contacted Misty about a week before I was going to need this cake, and she was easily able to accommodate me. I needed a cake for a "baby reveal party", where I was the ONLY person who was advised the sex of the baby(not even the mom and dad to be knew), so I was in charge of having a cake made and making sure once they cut into it they were pulling the knife out and be seeing either pink or blue icing. BLUE in this case :) Misty had the cake perfectly iced and there was no bleed through to ruin the surprise. We had ordered her Tahitian Vanilla Bean flavor in a Boutique style cake. This was absolutely delicious. I have never had a butter cream icing like she uses. Its so soft and subtle. Not sweet like most buttercreams. Cake was also packaged beautifully at pick up, and pricing was quite reasonable. I paid $60.00 for this cake that was to feed 18-20ppl--and it did. I will certainly be using her again for the next big event where we are in need of a cake!
