First time car owner and customer of Bronte Auto Repairs. I called in and was given a quote for $200 for a 6 month service of my Honda Civic by one of the owners. Greg. Comparatively to other mechanics, including the dealer this seemed like the cheaper and better option.
I come in the next day and was greeted by the other owner, John. Left my car there for the service and was told afterwards that I would need to pay $75 extra because my car needed synthetic oil. This pushed the price up to $275, which was more than the $265 I would've otherwise paid at the dealer. Being a first time car owner, I had no idea that my vehicle required synthetic oil and having told them my car model and year, I expected them to know before providing me the quote.
It has to be mentioned that the level of customer service by this mechanic, particularly by the co-owner John was absolutely appalling. Not only was I not given the service for the quoted price, but I was threatened to have my car withheld from me unless I paid his new price. I was also accused of having should've known better about my car and the type of oil it uses, despite it being my first car. When requesting to speak with the other co-owner Greg, I was told that there was no chance of that because he was part owner and his word was final.
While it is understandable that synthetic oil demands a higher charge than regular oil, I don't feel it is fair that a business not honour their quoted price let alone treat their customers in such a rude and disrespectful manner. Safe to say that I will never be back here again. read more
