Gym is not crowded, each time I was there , there might have only been 2-3 other people max. Service is friendly and accommodating. We got a weekend pass as out of state visitors. Pro tip: register on a weekday, since weekends may not have a front desk person to assist Recommendations : 1) test out your access after registration. Make sure to test with door locked to avoid possible subsequent issues 2) bathroom stall was out of toilet paper, so hopefully some more can be stocked up. Overall, would definitely return to visit the facility if I'm back in the area. Keep up the great work.

Boise is my hometown and I come back here to visit every year, but I spend so much time jumping between gym looking for the equipment I need depending on what I'm training that day. The moment I walked in and saw the equipment they had to offer, I knew I was home. They have everything you need to take a true holistic approach to fitness. The moment I walked in I was greeted by the welcoming staff and shown around. Unlike most places I've been around here where the front desk employee kinda looks at you weird like they're wondering why you're bothering them with your presence. All in all, Jack City is an uplifting environment with a welcoming community and unparalleled fitness resources that makes me miss it and wish I had a place like this to train at when I'm gone. And plus, they're one of the only place I've ever seen with kettlebells that go over 50 pounds. Thank you for having me, JFC

Me and my three girlfriends were staying at the hotel for the weekend coming from out of state, and…read morewe chose the hotel partly because of the attached spa. It was difficult to schedule four services at the same time, but they were able to accommodate a facial and massage at the same time, and then two more massages right after. We thought our services were fine; my girlfriend had a prenatal massage and said her therapist talked the whole time which she thought was distracting, but I had the same therapist right after and we didn't chat at all. I know therapists usually go off the energy of the client that they're working with, so I think she was probably being polite and the therapist might have considered it being open for more conversation. Anyway, like I said, we did enjoy our services. We were hoping for a group discount, but instead they treated us each to a glass of wine, which we appreciated. We didn't use any of the gym or pool facilities, nor the locker room. The gym equipment seemed fine. There were quite a few people in the gym. We didn't see anyone using the pool, but there were people using the hot tub, sauna, and steam room. I would say that clientele leans more male, and the pool/hot tub/sauna/steam room are co-ed, so take that into consideration if you visit.

I wanted to an update after another 6 months of membership. I've been a member here off and on for…read moreyears. A few general comments: - The smaller size and location of the gym are positives in my view. If you need to drive and park, though, it's rough. They have parking through the hotel, but it's time limited and the garage gets full and unusable if there are lots of hotel guests or events. - The locker rooms are tiny, barely kept up (broken hooks, and doors, towels strewn about), showers are sort of just a mess (it's one big open space mostly). Also, on the mens restroom, the urinal continues to almost flood daily as it's been kind of clogged forever. You can use it, but don't flush it.. - Cardio machines are ok -- getting on the older side but work well usually Some frustrations continue to include: - They lease out the pool to external swim lessons, so there are large swaths of the day where the pool is basically unusable and kids are running around, screaming, parents are everywhere -- it's a mes - It's also the hotel pool and gym, so between that, swim lessons and normal members, it's a dirty pool if we are being honest. I used to swim here, but I've run into so many gross hairs and "things" underwater that I just can't do it anymore. - It feels like ownership has gotten a little excited post pandemic and membership growth has REALLY taken off the last few months. It's really noticeable and at peak times (4pm-7pm) it's almost impossible to get a weight workout in without massive frustrations. There's simply no space. There's one single real squat rack (the other is a smith machine type thing), a couple benches, one normal bench press ... you'll end up nearly bumping into people just trying to pick up dumbbells. - There also seem to be some third party kettle bell trainers running private training in the gym, which further takes up space and seems to always ALSO be at peak times. - During peak times -- FORGET about trying to even get changed in the locker room. It becomes like trying to change in an aircraft lavatory. - I don't know if they plan to cap memberships, but I worry they won't (like all gyms, they just love the money coming in) ... and it's now teetering on not being a usable gym option just because it's so uniquely small in terms of Sq/Ft. It just doesn't handle the extra people well. - For now I continue to go and mostly enjoy it but only because I have schedule flexibility. If I were forced to only go at after work times, it'd be a tough sell honestly. 4/5 for now -- but it's getting too crowded really quickly

I started a membership…read moreand was there for only 2 months before they let some stranger without a membership into the gym who physically broke into my locker, stole my wallet, and immediately went on a shopping spree with all my credit cards. I called the police who came and I filed a report. During that process and my back-and-forth with various staff I mentioned that of course I would like to cancel and expect given the extreme circumstance that the cancellation fee would be waved. I was quickly assured that would not be a problem. 6 months go by and I don't hear a word from Mecca until I get a nasty email telling me I owe them over $300 in unpaid membership fees. Shocked, I call them up to discuss. Whoever I talked to told me to email the manager. Manager didn't reply back to me but the billing person did and basically explained that they could care less if my wallet is stolen and since I did not follow some specific sign they claim was posted somewhere that in order to cancel you have to *email* the manager (I guess talking to him or the people reporting directly to him is not enough), they would not consider the verbal agreement at the time valid. Even though I didn't lay foot in the gym since, even though their lack of security (not checking people's membership status during the day) lead to my wallet getting stolen, even though they silently went along for 6 months without communication making it seem settled, they have sent this made-up "bill" to a collections agency. Haven't dealt with a business so vile and greedy before in my life. As for the gym itself, incredibly overrated. You are basically paying double what you should to deal with an overcrowded gym with frequently broken machines and which is a bit filthy at times. Take your money elsewhere!

Shapes is an all women's gym with a brand new location in Meridian ID. I signed up with a group of girlfriends last week and have been thanking myself ever since. Shapes has the kindest employees, trainers & management and every single employee who I've interacted with has been super warm, welcoming and engaged with the members who come in. They're so anxious to help and support women and you can tel they genuinely love what they do! I've tried group classes with Cheryl, Marissa and April and all 3 have been phenomenal and upbeat with a contagious, positive approach to leading group classes with ages, bodies and abilities of all types. I've appreciated that all 3 of these teachers have shared modifications for allowing guests to go at either an easier or harder pace, depending on their varying needs. My favorite part of the group classes has been that the workout room has positive affirmations and mantras posted on the walls that are so encouraging and lifting. Who doesn't need to be reminded of their worth as they work hard, making time for themselves! The price is unbeatable for what they offer - gym equipment to run, lift & bike, an infrared sauna, a stocked locker room with showers and essentials, full access to all group classes with a variety of classes and times starting early in the morning and often even having night time classes offered too! So glad I signed up, I've been loving this new gym. No contracts, amazing price - so sign up and give it a shot, cancel if it doesn't work for you. I've been a member there for 1.5 years and been overall very happy with the value for the price. The Cons: 1. I requested that they consider getting a skate ski cardio machine. The owner was very unreceptive to this. A missed opportunity given our proximity to Bogus with the need to train for the winter season. 2. This place is very male focused. I requested that they stock tampons (even if a paid dispenser) and a small trashcan in the bathrooms (which are unisex). This request was not welcome, and the owner's response made me feel like I was the only woman who would want such things. I even proposed that offering these things could be good for business, given that 70% of their patrons are men. They could increase the male/female ratio by making women feel more welcome. I explained to the owners that I had to play basketball with my used tampon and the huge trashcan that was 1/2 way across the bathroom. He told me that other women in the gym did not share my concern. He also said that when they did stock tampons that they were stolen immediately. I sympathize with this feedback given how hard it is to run a business. But I was left feeling very unheard and like this gym is sort of hostile towards women's needs. I have since had several episodes where I'm at the gym and suddenly go to the bathroom only to find that I'm having a period incident with no recourse. Again, I'm happy with the facility. I only wish the feedback around the needs of women was more kindly and seriously considered.

I attempted the stationary bike recently and got disapproving looks while taking gym satire pics for IG. It's ok, some people look great taking selfies with their expensive activewear, and some people look just ok taking gym selfies with their sense of humor. ~Sometimes you win, sometimes you funny I have an IG story series called gym satire where I'm basically struggling to make sense of things at the gym. I usually don't figure it out and end up throwing sarcasm around like confetti. It makes me and one other person laugh, so it's worth the effort. ~Here's a serious paragraph This gym is usually clean and uncrowded (at night) which I really I like. I don't have many complaints. I like that it's open late and has wifi. I keep forgetting that they have a pool and need to remember next time. My save from drowning list has 3 people on it now. Speaking of water. The drinking water here is a fab-a-lous thing. Very crisp. It's basically the highlight of my late night workouts. Yep, the water fountain. ~If anyone wants to join me for a workout, I could use the help. I need someone to show me how to properly use the bike, a spotter for when I benchpress 10lbs and someone to catch me when I fall off the treadmill. Extra points if you help me sneak in a pizza.
