The contract was signed and off I go thinking my life would change. About one month went by and my ex wife was served. That's when my ex wife decided to get a lawyer. Then miss barker called me and told me that my divorce is now contested and it will cost me 10,000 dollars. The reason that she stipulated was supposedly my ex wife spent that much on the lawyer. I called the Ex and she told me her lawyer was telling her the same thing. I called back Mrs. Barker and started questioning her about her methods. She starting to have an attitude as to say I was not allowed to question her with the way that she spends my money. So when I called her back I let her know that, my lawyer and my ex's lawyer knew each other and it was a set up. So I fired her and finished my divorce myself. I discovered that the most it should cost was about $500.00 for a uncontested divorce and no kids, just one house. Not to say the lawyer should not have a retainer fee. Seriously $10,000 for paperwork that she just copied and paste really? It took me 3 tries to finish my divorce which were all free. I always wonder why people did not like lawyers, I thought they would be on our side. They are on their own side, the side that makes money off of other people's agony, then yell at you because you caught on. I'm not saying all lawyers, this one is not to be trusted.
