I'm a BIG fan of Brome. The company stands behind its products and when they say "hassle-free warranty," they mean it!
I purchased the Brome Squirrel Buster Plus 1024 bird feeder in April 2011 and it's still going strong! Just as advertised, squirrels are unable to feed from this bird feeder. You can adjust the tension on the spring so that even heavy birds (such as the aggressive black birds near me) are unable to access the food when the feeding ports close from the weight of the bird.
I've kept the feeder outside since 2011 in all kinds of weather and it's held up well. I've called Brome on two occasions and they've send me a replacement Center Rod Assembly when the feeder began to lose its ability to adjust its spring tension. I understand that they've modified the part and now the spring is "heavy duty" and it seems to hold up well.
Most recently I noticed the feeder assembly had become wobbly (was spilling some bird seed on the ground) and I was tempted to purchase a replacement feeder thinking that it was reasonable to expect the feeder to last six years before replacing. I went on the Brome website and was reminded of their "hassle-free warranty." I figured that I had nothing to lose so I disassembled the feeder and placed the parts in the dishwasher. It came out spotless. I called Brome Customer Service and spoke to Jody. I explained my problem with the feeder and she was happy to send me replacement parts without charge. Earlier today I replaced the 3 parts she provided me and I'm happy to report that the feeder works like new again! It turns out that it was the hub assembly that was the problem that was causing my feeder assembly to be lose. It seems that part of the original hub assembly broke off and that was causing the problem.
While the cost of this bird feeder may seem higher than others, this feeder may be the last one that you need to purchase! Thank you Brome for standing behind your products and providing great customer service! read more
