This portrait was over 100 years old and had a lot of damage to the portrait and frame, especially water damage. The restoration is truly remarkable! Such care and consideration were given us especially when working with us on the pricing! I am so grateful to Ms. Maria Orachek! She was wonderful to work with us. This portrait now belongs to my disabled son, and it has made him so happy. I am happy to write this review for The Conservation Center and their entire staff. They deserve a full 5-star review! After initial contact, I received an…read moreemail stating they could not duplicate the bronze table mounts which I found perplexing, because I specifically stated that I had the mounts, but they would need to be installed following the wood restoration. When I informed them of their misunderstanding, they apologized and stated I would receive a phone call " shortly" from their wood restorer to make an appointment to view the table at my home, which is less than 2 miles from their offices...... that was five weeks ago and I still haven't received a phone call from the restorer. However, today I received an email asking me if I agree to their terms. Who's on first? Their incompetence is glaring, and I can't believe how they maintain a business. They are a joke.

Came across Restoration Division and from the get-go, I received nothing but professionalism. They were quick to reply to messages, gave me a very fair quote, sent out their team, picked up the piece, and repaired and returned in a matter of a few weeks. Probably would have been done quicker, but there were some delays on my part. Overall, very grateful for their quality work and professionalism. Painting came back looking as if nothing had ever happened. Highly recommend.

It literally bore so much neglect, it not only could not be reframed, one would never believe it was once part of an AIC Exhibition. Restoration Division understood the importance of the delicate aged piece not just to our family but because the work deserved to survive and not just restored but preserved for the future. They explain their techniques, reason and causes for condition as well as options and requirements to remedy them. The piece returned home yesterday looking as if my great-uncle had just finished its final brushstroke proudly in a new frame.

I deeply appreciate the time they spent with me, their genuine interest in and appreciation of the piece I brought to be restored, as well as their profound skill, generosity, and kindness. There was no requirement of them to share other current restoration projects and artwork in the studio, both theirs and that of clients, but I was provided with a fascinating profile of their company and vast knowledge. Rare and daunting intelligence and expertise abound in this studio. Most importantly, their work is exquisite -- painstaking detail on a rare graphic print, that was transformed and brought to life again. I can not write a more positive recommendation nor thank them adequately. You wont be disappointed -- they're simply the best in Chicago!

I never leave reviews as its a pain in the ass but here is the story. I purchased a rare Italian star wars two sheet poster that was pretty expensive for a poster and very hard to find. It was folded many times and I wanted to display it without the folds. I contacted Tom and he said he would be happy to mount this poster on linen and remove the creases. When i dropped off the poster i was given a tour of his studio and met his staff. I was also walked though the process and shown other posters in process and completed restorations. The tour was a great experience in itself. The finished product i received was perfect in every way. The quote i received was mind blowing in its affordability. I always suspected a restoration job would be hundreds of dollars. I was very pleased with the cost and the quality. The turn around time was quick and on time as quoted. The level of information and care provided will have me coming back with another poster soon. I was also given a contact of a framer that also assisted in completing my project with the level of service and care that a rare collectible demands. I would highly recommend that you bring your restoration project here. The quality and craftsmanship was abundantly clear from the studio and the finished product. My poster is even more pleasing knowing that the process it took to finally get it on my wall was so pain free. I love my poster and I am filled with warm feelings whenever i look at it. Thank you Tom and staff. P.s. I have used Michael's the big arts and crafts chain to mount another poster in the past but i will not go back there after going to the art of restoration. If you need a true professional and want master craftsman results please visit the art of restoration, you will not be disappointed.
