There is something for everyone and I believe the prices are somewhat flexible. There are independent stands witting the shops and plenty of people to help you and answer your questions. I'd passed it several times on the tram and it's mentioned in one of the travel guides I read. What a gem of a shop. It's like walking into your elder relative's over-packed attic. It's all food-related stuff, but what a range of it! Definitely things in there I couldn't begin to identify, but the shop owner is kind and happy to chat. I found a small cardboard box stuffed with old Delft tiles. Granted, I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure I paid about 25% of what they were charging for very similar ones at the upscale antique shops down the road. You can easily spend an hour in here, but take care not to bump into anything or you might get buried.

I had walked by this shop so many times and ironically, on my first trip to Amsterdam I stayed two doors down from it and never noticed it. I mentioned this to the owner and he said, which I agree, that part of the charm of Amsterdam is there are so many things here that you are constantly stumbling upon amazing shops and more every time you walk down the street. He couldn't be more right. The shop itself is so unique. I knew immediately that I would love it here. The items were cool and not like anything else I'd find while shopping. It's definitely not a tourist shop; it's not a t-shirt or postcard sort of place, but it features really cool home decor items from suspended butterflies to really cool metal displays. I knew immediately I'd find so many things I'd love and couldn't bring back to the states with me because I'd have no room and I was right, but I did find some cool metal keys to bring with me to decorate in my living room. This store is not a tourist trap. Most of the pieces here are authentic Delftware. (Check the back if you're not sure!) They have every kind of porcelain you could want: tiles, dishes, statuettes, tulip vases, etc. The owner was probably about 80 years old and was following me around the entire time I was shopping to make sure I didn't break/steal anything, which was pretty entertaining. He was nice enough to wrap up my purchases for me, so I guess he didn't have any hard feelings :) 4 stars instead of 5 because the prices are pretty high. But ultimately, you have to pay for craftsmanship, and most things here are hand-painted. Everyone back home loved their gifts from this store!

My wife and I were looking for a small and unique picture to remind us of our time in Amsterdam, and Peter's shop was the perfect find. Fast forward to 20 minutes later, and we had chosen 4 beautiful pieces, all at a very fair price especially considering the quality of the prints. We were hesitant to try and take our art with us in our luggage, so Peter offered to ship it to the US for us as a special favor (with online tracking info, emailed to us promptly the following morning).
