Gayle, my son and I started our drive down to Spirit Lake Iowa after a great visit with the families of my brother and Meg and Ron. The only correct route in my opinion is to take US 169 near Shakopee (after passing the Flying Cloud Airport) and head towards Mankato. Hence, I continue to ignore the iphone instructions to head down I-35 to Albert Lea and cut across on I-90.
But as much as I excel at directions and spatially finding my way, I lack in watching the fuel gauge. I've never run out of gas, but I do remember one time in Omaha when I had to coast into the service station on fumes. And for some odd reason, my son's mother wasn't pleased. I've also learned that in these situations, Gayle feels the same way.
So right at Jordan, it was time. We got off the road, drove into Jordan City Centre, and found the promised land at the Broadway Market/Marathon Station. Gayle and David were also able to assuage their irritation with me by choosing a treat from their well stocked convenience store.
