We visited on a Friday morning, before the rush, and were quickly seated in the courtyard out back…read more The back area has a relaxed and peaceful vibe. Our group included myself, hubby and our 3 year old daughter. The atmosphere was inviting, warm and very family friendly. The service was fast and welcoming. Though dining as a family it was an environment equally suited to a brunch with the girls, date or casual business meeting. The menu is full of your usual brunch items with creative and delicious twists. Their take on chicken and waffles was AMAZING. Every element perfectly complimented each other. The waffle was dense but filling and tasty, the coleslaw light and fresh and the popcorn chicken seasoned and cooked to perfection. A+ in terms of originality and deliciousness. My husband went with the B Man's Brekkie - think upmarket big brekkie but with a wonderful kick it flavour. Highlight of the plate was the corn fritter - if hungry this plate is for you but if not the fritters alone with sate your hunger. If you're a coffee snob you won't be disappointed. Our cappuccinos were faultless. I also loved the Vietnamese cold brew - it gave me a nice taste of nostalgia. Perfect for those missing shores abroad. Overall a tasty and fun meal served in a casual and friendly environment. I'd recommend Mr Benedict to any and all.

I'll have to say that the service wasn't that great, particularly since they didn't mention that…read morethere was more to the taxi number than was actually written on the wall (and they didn't offer to ring one either, despite lots of other pubs I've been to actually offering to do that). The other thing is that the beer selection honestly wasn't all that fantastic, though I suspect that that might have more to do with it being a country pub, with a country style, than anything else. Still, it was okay, just not particularly great.

Absolutely delighted by this place! Went on Tuesday for the $10 steak night. Had a delicious rump…read moresteak with Tasty steamed veggies. Had a choice of chips, potato bake with either salad or veggies and about 5 sauces to choose from (but I was endeavouring to be healthy so I gallantly declined those options). It was really nicely cooked, a little but more cooked than I usually enjoy in a rare steak, but for $10 I was pretty impressed. My mates absolutely loved the Diane and mushroom sauces and said the chips were crunchy and delicious. We then found ourselves involved in a hysterical trivia night, where we all lost something shocking but had great fun trying (don't ever ask us where any mountain ranges are located!). We subsequently moved onto desert and indulged in a tantalising variety of cakes. They each came in massive wedges of deliciousness with pots of both whipped cream and ice-cream on the side. The only negative I can think of is that it's quite chilly inside in winter as it is in an old wool shed (hence the name). The venue itself has a great atmosphere and is all decked out in vintage farming relics with dainty fairy lights twinkling from the wooden beams across the ceiling. All in all we were quite delighted and entranced by a place that, let's be honest, we only visited for the $10 steaks.

A lot going on with street scape walls, differing tables and vibrant coloured cushions, but it tied together seamlessly. Flowers on tables and surrounds are often lost on me but the use of them here is tasteful and casually elegant. Outside seating available but less inviting due to the bad weather. Now to the food. For approximately $60 we ordered 2 lattes (one caramel), a coke, chips with aioli, pasta carbonara and a seafood pizza. The chips were a hefty serving (and ultimately went unfinished) with my mum remarking that the aioli tasted homemade. Always a winner. The pasta a good lunch time serving. Not too big or small, just right. My seafood pizza was easily the best I have ever eaten. I loved the 2 large mussels served atop a bed of rocket with side of lemon. The meat filled the shells. No shrivelled mussels here! The rest of the pizza was not bombarded with toppings, allowing you to appreciate the base with mild seafood and olive flavours. $19 for a seafood pizza is unheard of; I'm used to paying $25 or higher. So well done on providing a superior pizza at a price I'd be happy to pay over again. To compliment the food and venue were terrific staff. Family run perhaps? Our waitress was lovely and took our elderly guest 'admiring' what turned out to be her husband in her stride.

I'm a bit puzzled by the previous reviews...I guess this used to be a Chinese restaurant?? Now…read more(2018) it's an Indian restaurant, although I noticed they did have a section at the back of their menu devoted to Indo-Chinese food. Really, I can't fault this place. The decor was lovely, the service awesome, the menu interesting, and the food delicious. It's not cheap, but it's well-priced for the quality and quantity of food that you get, and prices are no more than you would find at any other upscale Indian place. (We spent about $30/person and it was more than enough food.) They know and understand what "vegan" means. Most of the vegetarian menu options that do not mention "cream" or "paneer" are vegan, which is great. We ordered rice and roti for 2, as well as a potato dish and a mixed veggie dish. Both were amazingly delicious, although I preferred the potato dish. The rice was also very good -- light and fluffy and cooked with obvious care as opposed to cheap rice chucked into a ricemaker. We also got free pappadums before our meal, and Indian spiced tea. (I could skip the tea in the future -- it was pretty pricey for what it was.) I also loved the decor here. Red walls, candlelit tables, and classy art depicting glittering peacocks and the Taj Mahal. The mains also came served in cantilevered dishes that were really cool. If you're heading through Albury on your way to Sydney/Melbourne, definitely break your journey here and have some excellent Indian food :)

We often stop when driving past Albury and will be stopping here from now on. There's room in the street out front to park a caravan. Food is standard Australian Chinese but high quality. As with all country Chinese restaurants, there's an Australian menu on the back page too. Truly a pleasure to dine at and an excellent stop when travelling north from Melbourne to Canberra or Sydney.
