    Sparetime - Made in France

Sparetime is a somewhat unique shop that primarily specializes in 3D puzzles and construction type…read morecrafts based on The Little Prince, Studio Ghibli, and Bandai brands. I was really happy to come across this store in Hillcrest Mall. In terms of Totoro merchandise, there were colour variations I don't normally see, especially green. Of course, there are many sizes and colours of plushies to choose from, but also tote bags, figurines, and some neat in-store art decor that were all different from what I normally find. The really neat section for me is The Little Prince merchandise, which you don't tend to find much of elsewhere. Here, it rivals the extent of the Ghibli selection, with books, clothing, mugs, plushies, and puzzles. I was really eyeing the $45 Fox plushie, which was really nicely made, but I turned to one of their wooden 3D laser cutting puzzles instead, along with a mug that actually is from France. There were several books to choose from that went from toddler to adult level, including an absolutely gorgeous pop-up that really was more like a work of art for the coffee table. It's not a large space, but the amount of stock is still pretty good. The staff were polite and efficient in ringing up my purchases. When I saw the payment terminal I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get a paper receipt, but thankfully, it was provided without a hitch. This store is good enough to make Hillcrest Mall a return destination for me. If you're into Studio Ghible, The Little Prince, or Bandai, I would highly recommend checking them out. If you're into wooden puzzles and unusually themed puzzles as well, same. You can also check out their their website first to see what kind of merchandise they carry. As for me, I will definitely be returning.

Canada Trading Company: A Niagara Falls Must-Visit…read more Located in the heart of Clifton Hill, the Canada Trading Company is much more than a typical souvenir shop. It is a massive, well-organized emporium that expertly blends classic Canadian mementos with high-quality collectibles. Visitors are often drawn in by the impressive life-sized animal displays and rustic, lodge-like atmosphere, making it a fun photo op as much as a retail destination. From authentic maple syrups and plush toys to unique home decor and Indigenous-made crafts, the variety is staggering. While it can get crowded during tourist peaks, the wide aisles and friendly service ensure a pleasant shopping experience.

Everything was great until I went to the register to check out. I paid for my items once, received confirmation from my bank via text at 8:51pm. The cashier insisted that the store didn't receive the transaction and to charge my card again. He retrieved what appeared to be the Supervisor, who insisted again to charge my card and that the text from the bank wasn't sufficient evidence of me paying. Against my better judgement while have my child begging for these items, I did indeed charge my card again. Especially after being assured if I emailed the Manager, it will all be sorted out. I charged again at 8:59. Ultimately the store received my money twice. I was refunded the next day, after emailing the Manager to sort everything out. I was pleasantly surprised at how this was resolved. The only thing I will say is that the workers and the women from accounting who called me all said, this happens often. Here's a tip, get the POS system looked at so another customer doesn't have to experience this.

I have been to this post office twice in my lifetime. My most recent visit was odd…read more My home post office isn't here. It's at the Shoppers Drug Mart. I do FlexDelivery often. I work late and it's best that I stop by the post office to pick up parcels. I had a parcel shipped to my FlexDelivery address. This instance was the first time in which my delivery was sent incorrectly to another post office. In this case, it went to the one at Town Gifts. I received a call on my cell phone last Tuesday afternoon. I was in a meeting. The person didn't leave a message. Less than a minute later, my phone rang again. This time, a message was left. Ten minutes later, when my meeting was over, my phone rang again. I was able to answer the call. It was a woman on the phone indicating that I had a parcel. I was thrilled that my parcel had arrived, but this location is a ten-minute drive further north from my home. She gave me the parcel number and I jotted it down. An hour later, I was driving home from work. My phone rang. The woman called back to indicate that my parcel number had changed. I indicated that I was driving and did not have a pen to jot down the new number. Four phone calls in a day from the post office is excessive, no? The normal FlexDelivery procedure is to get an e-mail with the parcel number and the address of my local post office. Needless to day, this delivery was out of the ordinary. The post office closes at 7 pm on weeknights. I knew that I would not make it on Tuesday night. It's another reason why I like my home post office, which stays open until 9 pm. On Wednesday morning, I drove up to this post office to fetch my parcel. The post office section of the store is crazy busy compared to the gift side of the business. I waited ten minutes to speak to someone at the counter. Naturally, no one here knows who I am at Town Gifts. I am like Norm (Normette?) at my home post office. I walk in and everyone knows who I am. I don't have to present ID. Not at Town Gifts. I presented my mugshot of a driver's licence and got my parcel. I am hoping that I do not have to pick up a parcel at this location. I prefer my home one for many reasons, including a sense of community and no phone calls! (226)

I recently came across fluid bears on social media, and it looked like such a fun and unique…read moreactivity. My friend and I booked through an Instagram direct message and went during their "buy one, get one free" promotion for the fluid bear. The bears come in many sizes, and prices increase accordingly (keychain $22, 7" $58, 9" $68, 13" $108, 21" $168, 1 mini bear and canvas $38, and 2 mini bears and canvas $48). On the website, it also lists how long each project is expected to take. They also have pom-pom canvases and bags. The pom-pom canvases are: 8 x 8" $58, 12 x 12" $68, 18" x 18" $88, 18" x 23" $108, 23" x 23" $168, and 40" x 40" $328. The pom-pom bags are: A4 $88, A3 $108, and B5 $68. When we arrived and checked in for our reservation, an employee showed us the different-sized bears, and there were even some that were sitting or leaning back in addition to the standing ones. He gave us some time to decide, and then we also chose paint colours. We weren't sure what colours we wanted, so he showed us photos of previous customers' projects. We were set up at a table with aprons, our chosen paint colours, our bear on a tray, and even given a hair tie if we didn't have one with us to keep our hair out of the way. The employee showed us how to pour and mix our different paint colours and then pour them on our bears. The first pour was definitely the best one for me. The colours and patterns were astounding. Sometimes the paint doesn't completely cover the bear as it drips down, so they provide a plastic spoon to fill in those spots. The last thing before paying was deciding whether or not we wanted the bears to have a matte or gloss finish. Also, there's no tax if you pay in cash. We were informed that our bears would be ready for pickup in two to three days, and I did get a text informing me that our bears were ready within two days. I wasn't sure how to transport my finished bear home. It turns out that they put them in a case for you.   Overall, my friend and I really enjoyed our fluid bear experience. instagram: https://www.instagram.com/whitebear_trt/ website: https://www.whitebeardiy.com/
