To top it off the building is in rough shape- the carpets are gross. I'd HIGHLY suggest looking for another establishment to help guide you through this taxing time- there are plenty of better funeral homes in the near vicinity with better facilities, customer service, and pricing.

Having never needing to be the one to directly handle a life changing event like the passing of our…read morefather, Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel made us "feel like family" and walked us through the steps while allowing time as needed when it became very difficult to handle both the passing and handling of the funeral. Mr. Michael Farrow explained every step of the process, service selection, and even gave us options for the Mercy Meal after the service. If was if if he knew my father and the care and respect showed was greatly appreciated. Michael also helped us schedule the services as to not impact the family due to other services scheduled around the same time. Our father looked amazing and at peace, they did an amazing job--everyone was impressed. We were never rushed. We were able to make changes during the process as well with no issues or questions. Mercadante's also has kept in touch after the services were completed, this was not expected; yet welcomed as it has been helping us during the healing process. They also handled all the paperwork for his certificate of death, social security, etc. Everyone was professional, caring, and understanding--as I stated, they treated us like "family" from start to finish. They surprised us by making memorial Red Sox tickets, a lovely picture blanket and engraved her casket. All of this on top of making a picture slide show, a picture guest book and her mass cards. Jeff is not only an amazing funeral director, he is a kind, compassionate, thoughtful, wonderful human being. Even though we'd arranged for pre-planned services many years ago, Jeff treated us as if we were writing a check today! My father-in-law passed away at 6:00 in the morning in a nursing home. I received a call from Jeff at 7:30am telling me he's picked up dad, and he was safe in the funeral home. He arranged for a time that was convenient for us to come in much later that day to make Dad's final arrangements. I swear he works about 20 hours a day! While dad had done the original planning years ago, Jeff still helped us put together a service which was perfect for our family, and did everything we asked to honor the great man our father was. All the details were handled beautifully, and we didn't need to worry about a thing. Dad was very ill at the end of his life and had lost a significant amount of weight, so we were worried about how he would look for the calling hours. No worry needed. Jeff prepared our dad for burial expertly, and made him look like he was younger and healthier again. In fact, it was so comforting for us to say it looked like he was just taking a nap. Dad was a veteran, so Jeff arranged for a service with full military honors, which was so important to Dad, and meant so much to us. I cannot more highly recommend Jeff and Hays Funeral Home. The genuine care and concern he showed for all of us and his expertise in his craft created a beautiful memory for us rather than just a sad day of loss. Final Gift Pet Memorial (formerly Forget-Me-Not) helped our rottweiler, Luca, to be with us…read moreforever. Sara, who handled Luca's intake was kind and compassionate; Derek, who managed Luca's care thereafter was diligent and thorough. Luca was picked up by Final Gift from our home-vet, then transported to their facility. My wife and I picked him up 2 days later. Final Gift placed his cremains into a beautiful, well-made, bamboo urn that was provided complimentary, the urn was then placed inside a blue velvet bag. We purchased a hand-made urn and transferred Luca once home and found inside, his cremains were placed into a blue silk pouch bag. Such quality and such care given to our cherished pet. We are so thankful for Final Gift (this is the third beloved rottweiler of ours that they have cremated over more than 20 years). There is perhaps no greater gift that you can give to your pet.
