TL;DR: Come asap and get the damn flowers! I also recommend calling ahead and describing what type of arrangement(s) you need so she can make them for you ahead of time. // I have never seen such florals in my life that were so captivating I found myself simply staring at the wall in awe. Recently made the trip to visit Blucid Florals in the Lower Ninth Ward. Had the chance to meet Brandi, owner and founder of Blucid Floral. After seeing her beautiful works of floral art via social media, I knew I needed to make a trip and go get an arrangement for myself. Parking isn't too bad as you're allowed to park on the left side of the building in the grassy lot which is a solid save since street parking is somewhat limited. Variety of stems were available to have a "build your own bouquet" ranging from $4-$7 a stem and the best part is Brandi will wrap them in her signature black and white stripe bouquet paper (it's plastic and doesn't get all damp!) and hand tied with a piece of burlap string. It's hella cute y'all. I was able to take them home and keep them in water until it was time to give them to my partner. Selfishly had them for two days beforehand and I'll do it again lmao. The bouquet was arranged so pretty and had some nice greenery in it. I really appreciated how Brandi broke down the pricing and explained how floral pricing works for higher end flowers and fillers. She does not play y'all, I've had my flowers for a little under a week and they're still thriving! Some flowers she features are lilly, ranunculus, various colors of roses, and way to many to mention. But many were the first time I had ever seen in my life. I felt like pretty woman at the high end boutique but with amazing customer service! The colors and vibrancy of her flowers are out of this world and the bloom on each stem was crazy beautiful. They weren't withering nor "ble", I know it's not descriptive but we have all seen flowers were they weren't given the proper love and nurture. Before COVID-19, Brandi was more in the large scale floral productions for corporate events and weddings; however, she soon realized that her needs were to open up her doors and provide an opportunity for the community to have a splash of color and benefit from the positive aspects of being in close proximity to florals. When I first walked in there was a bouquet pre-made for a client and it was gorgeous. I was about to take a picture but alas it was too late since the client arrived within two minutes lol. Brandi does not play y'all! She has a very loyal customer base who come in frequently, it also doesn't hurt she has a loyalty program. You can also grab bundles of eucalyptus for around $8 if I'm correct. You just have to hope she still has some when you get there lol. There's something so soothing about this space and it honestly has to do with the energy Blucid Floral produces. Fun Fact- Brandi is also in a second line. She is a great advocate for local businesses as she allows businesses and entrepreneurs to promote themselves with their business cards at check-out. I'm sold and I'll now be coming back here for various reasons. You can also purchase vases and a few other knick knacks.

Such a cute little flower shop situated in the 9th ward. Walked in and I was immediately greeted. I…read moresaw some flowers I liked but was not sure how to arrange them. The staff was so kind and sweet letting me know what each flower was, and then helped me complete my arrangement. I love the ability to come into this shop and pick out the flowers you would like, and then having them arranged in a lovely manner. If you would like to give flowers as a gift, you can come here for a special arrangement, not a pre-arrangement from the store. This shop allows your arrangements to be special and personalized from the heart. They have a Loyalty Card where you receive 2 free stems after your 5th visit. This is such a nice shop for flower lovers and givers of flowers. I will be back to support. Until we meet again. #blackowned #smallbusiness

The coronavirus restrictions are ramping up, meaning I'm spending a lot more time at home now. As…read moresuch, the deplorable state of my home's flowerbed is really getting to me. Once I got wind of the looming stay-at-home mandate, I decided to run one last non-essential errand: picking up a project to keep myself busy at home. I decided that fixing up my flowerbed would be my project, and so off I went to Renaissance Gardens. The location of Renaissance Gardens somehow manages to be both convenient and inconvenient. Is convenient because it's on a major road, so I pass it frequently. It is inconvenient because it is on an oddly-shaped lot, and thus has a strange parking situation. There is enough room to park 2 cars normally/perpendicular, but then you have to get creative/parallel park. There's enough room that it's not really a problem, but it might catch some people off guard. Gardening isn't really my thing, so I can't be sure, but Renaissance Gardens seem to have a good selection of plants. Certainly more than I would've guessed from my various drives past them. I didn't know what I wanted, just listed my requirements - something to grow in a full sun flowerbed and help crowd out weeds - and the ladies were able to show me some options. So I got some professional advice, pretty flowers, and a random cat sighting; awesome.

I went to check for house plants, and they had my dream hoya. A pubicalyx splash (for $14.95)! So…read moreglad I happened to drive past this and made a U-turn. I'll definitely stop by again when I'm in the area
