I know there are a few around Birsbane and sometimes to get the best deal you need to go and have a look at more than just one of the outlets. The thing I love about going into Cash Converters is that you never know what you are going to find. This can be a problem for people like me who normally go into a shop with something specific in mind and then leave with something completely different. At Cash Converters most of the stuff you see is in fairly good condition and if its things like a bicycle or tools or even a surf board sometimes starting out with a second hand one from Cash Converters is a good idea. They do also have a lending and selling area so if you have something that is in good condition and u want to get rid of it take it down to Cash Converters for an easy sale. This also avoids having to put ad's up online and takes the time wasting out of selling. If you borrow money be aware though because they will have a crazy high interest rate almost to the point of it not being worth it.

Tricks that they have include hiding item defects by covering them with price tags, and when it comes to electrical goods (such as game consoles), they shrink wrap them so that you cannot see item defects until after the purchase has already been made. They may also offer you a lower price on an item if you agree to no warranty, though do not do this! If the item is immediately faulty when you get home, they will have a 'too bad' kind of attitude. I have not tried selling anything to them or getting a loan through them, nor would I considering my purchasing experiences with them. Some of the items that they sell are pretty good, it is a shame that they lack good customer service, and feel the need to mislead customers in order to move stock. If you are interested in used goods, stick to ebay, as you have buyer protection through PayPal.

There are quite a few second hand shops around Brisbane but the Capalaba Cash Cow is a clean, well presented store with a collection of bits and pieces that overall, are in great condition. You have to admire a pawn shop that looks like new. They have a large range of DVD's, guitars, bikes, golf clubs and heaps more. Defiantly worth a look if you are after something a bit more affordable. They don' t have a large range of products but they do have a lot of DVD's.

In my case though, it was a semi rare gold coin, I only wanted a photo so I had something to check against in a price guide book. It was not so much that I was denied taking a photo but the extremely rude response I got, because apparently after I come into the shop and take photo's, I was then going to "come back and do other things". I am still not sure what he meant by other things, but probably the only other thing I wanted to do was come back and buy the coin after I could at least make an educated guess that it was authentic. Thinking about it now, I can only assume, that he thought I would come back and steal from him, maybe because I have a few tattoo's, nice way to pre judge. Either way and for whatever reason, he could still be a little more pleasent and maybe come up with a sale. Even a reasonable explanation would not hurt. The whole experience seemed off that he did not want me to take a photo so m I could confirm what I was buying.
