I put it off simply because I didn't know what to do and I basically felt paralyzed. Long story short, I made an appointment for a consultation, figuring I couldn't qualify but maybe they could recommend another option. The attorney Janine, completely put our fears to rest. We qualified despite the issues that I thought would disqualify us. My emails to him were often ignored and I had to repeatedly followup with him to get him to respond - often weeks going by and no reply. Each time it was the same excuse "I was in court". I understand that our job was small compared to some of his other clients but we could have at least received the courtesy of a response - saying I'll get back to you Xxxx. Although he did finish our agreement it was later than originally agreed upon and we have not received any invoice at all. The $2500 was a retainer, not a flat fee. I expected to receive monthly billing statements as I have with every other attorney I have hired in the past. Not have him take all of the money without any explanation at all. It has now been 3 months since he took our money and I have yet to hear from him with an itemized bill showing his time and charges. We feel robed. While we are happy with the agreement, we wish we had chosen someone else as his work was not worth $2500 or the stress of trying to get him to call or email us back.

The personal injury case seemed to drag on forever with the only progress made only after we called to prod him along. But it eventually resolved and the settlement was acceptable. The DUI case also resolved but incompletely. The charge was dismissed without prejudice meaning they could be refiled at any future point. It was very important to us and promised by Mr. Larsen that he would continue to insist on the (negative) results of the blood draw and file a motion to dismiss with prejudice in anticipation of a civil case. Unfortunately, once the personal injury case resolved we have been unable to get any resolution on this matter. Multiple calls have went unreturned, etc. There are possibly other, more responsive, lawyers out there that you can choose to represent you.

She went against judge's orders without any consequences. I addressed this over the course of several months and Leah did not respond at all because she was more concerned with the divorce stipulations. At the end of the process, Leah finally addressed all the lies but blew it off by saying "what difference does that make in the end?" The difference that it makes is that it cost me a ton of money to defend myself with the constant lies and manipulations of my ex, as well as the fact that we have a standard in the court system. One cannot just completely disregard a judge's orders without consequence. But from what I understand this is a very pro-female state which doesn't surprise me because Leah is a female. So it appears there will be no ramifications and I just have to suck it up that I spent a ton of money to allow my ex to play God and overrule the judge's orders.
