I recommend this facility. My only complaint might be the Parking is limited as there are a lot of Staff with the Assisted Living building being next door. this review is on behalf of my 82 yo mom who had a terrible experiences in several other skilled…read morenursing facilities. this place is wonderful!!! you can trust them to take care of mom or dad. the food: mom says food was tasty. lots of chicken and fish and beef dishes. lunch is biggest meal. vegetables are varied. food always different. it had some seasoning (other places nope) the desserts were small and tasty. Let them know day agead and you can eat with your parent. Seasonal fruit was delicious. Everyone who works here is kind and seems happy to work here. They clearly treat staff well. there is no smell! other places smell like poverty and pee. this place is delightful. each room is private with nurse station close. There are mini fridges for drinks. Each room has a large cozy recliner. The hallways are well lit and the lobby is very welcoming. Don't expect your sick parent to eat or enjoy it, but they will be miserable anywhere less. my mom had surgery after a fall and she really loved it. The doc came every week and assessed her. The PT staff got her stronger, she was discharged on time. She asked me how to let them know. She is crying because the staff came to say goodbye and gave her hugs. She really felt cared for. Good job to all the nurses and staff! You all did so freaking great!!

Rehabilitation services are excellent. The nursing staff don't just do a job, they care about every resident. Sarah the assistant administrator helped me navigate paperwork and help with medical paperwork. She has been amazing and supportive as this is all new. Lets talk about there secret weapon and heavy hitter is Lucy Zepeda. Lucy has helped me navigate medical paperwork, my father's pension paperwork-website issues, medical insurance etc.... Lucy is absolutely a key player in this team. Not only can she handle my direct approach but is able to explain all the paperwork associated with all of the things that happened. Without her I would still be trying to tread water with it all. I can say she has taught me and absolutely been everything I needed. Thank you Lucy. This is my fifth night at Sherwood Healthcare center. I am receiving very good care and have…read moredeveloped a rapport with many of the RNs, LVNs, CNAs .Sometimes, for me, I'm very pleased with the type of care I receive. Sherwood is a very well established older facility. The rooms are spacious enough, it is clean, and of course the staff work very hard to keep things running smoothly. I am in room 25AB with a roommate. We seem to have the cooler and quieter area of facility.. sometimes I can hear the purr of the trains on the tracks that are nearby. Carol has been with Sherwood for over 30 years. She is amazing at her job, try hard to accommodate patient's needs. The Sien is in this facility are very good about providing fresh ice water in the pitchers for us. I feel it every time you ring the call button for something they try their best to accommodate our needs as soon as possible. They're very quick. The fear of Sherwood is a very professional and will run facility. The doctors and all the staff are very helpful. Nurse address issues and progress, expediently and strive to keep the patients any good rehabilitation environment. The PT department is very much involved in making sure that we have what we need in order to rehabilitate properly. My feelings are very positive about this facility.

Tiny, stuffy shared…read morerooms(2per room), my dad's bed was up against a sliding glass door, there was a garbage can full of dirty linens at the foot of his bed, the trash can was full and there was no one else in the room yet; it was just disgusting. There was 1 bathroom for 4 people (shared by 2 rooms). To top it off it is run by Incompetent, rude people. My dad was transferred there on a Thursday for rehab for knee replacement and he wasn't going to be seen until Monday. That's 4 days! they said he had to meet the social worker, doctor, and speech therapist to get started. I told them My dad is healthy all he needs is physical therapy. We decided to take him home and they refused to let us use a wheelchair to get him to our car. Absolutely horrible.

I grew up around nursing homes and my family owned and operated 2 of them back on the east coast, in my years of work in healthcare I have been in numerous facilities and I would say this is in my top five especially for its location, its close to everything. Their competence, knowledge, compassion and great listening skills is why I believe UC Davis has partnered with them as their affiliate Home Care Agency. Communication skills, patience and experience with homebound patients is different from health care providers in an outpatient or hospital setting. They definitely have that from years of experience in home care. Thank you to this team and the owner of American River Health Care for his insight and providing extra much needed services for free that are not provided by insurance. You have set the bar high! P.S. It's important for NEW home care patients to understand that home care professionals are unable to stick to a specific appointment time frame due to travel time and the importance of judging when the patient is physically and mentally ready before leaving for their next patient.
