This is a pic from my site they walked on my site and had a tournament without asking. Rude and assholes.

No one patrols the upper campground, people driving 30 pulling a boat and no one will follow up. I could not even park on my camp site cause everyone else was. Ask the ranger twice and nothing. I love this campground but with all the Covid campers it's turning into a dump. No One is Courteous they walk through your site and could care less to listen to you. There kids were just as bad.

This is a really nice campground. The sites are about normal for a state park. Weekends are crowded of course, but clears out during the week. The washrooms are kept fairly clean, the electric is good. Lots of trails for walking and bicycling. It's a great place to go to when you want to feel way out of the city, but you really aren't.

One of the archery targets. Lol poor guy.

My husband and I came here for the first time Saturday and I liked it so much I came back the next day. It is a really neat park with a lot of different amenities. On Saturday we walked the 2 mile loop hiking trail. It was a nice trail, well kept, and fairly easy to finish. I came back the next day and ran the 5 mile loop trail. That trail was also well kept and was a little more challenging, especially if you are running it. The hiking trails were well marked and easy to navigate. There are some parts of the 5 mile loop that wind you around houses and a non-park road, but I thought it added to the charm as this seems to have more of metro park vibe. There is plenty of parking and there is signage everywhere. We also checked out the archery area which was pretty neat. They had a bunch of areas cordoned off with various wooden animals to shoot at. The beach area looked cool but was really small. There are also some nice fishing spots. Restrooms were clean, plenty of benches, and cool things to look at for those looking to get their monies worth out of their state park pass. Overall a neat park and I would recommend.

We were looking for a place to take the dogs and kids camping for just one night. We'd never been to any of the campgrounds at this recreation area but it was only an hour from home so we decided to check it out. We camped at Appleton which has rustic sites and we were happy with our stay. The sites were large and the campground was relatively small and quiet. The outhouses were pretty clean and easily accessible. It was also very dog friendly with multiple lakes and hiking trails. Check in was at a neighboring campground which was a little inconvenient but otherwise we had a lovely time.

Gorgeous park - Free of tons of geese and ducks so your little ones can play pretty much anywhere. Gorgeous sandy beach and a really large shallow swimming area - perfect for little ones. Bring plenty of cash because there's plenty of places to buy snacks drinks and food but they don't take anything but cash. Dog friendly and has a place for your kids to swing after they're done swimming there's also picnic benches and pavilions that you can rent. This place has it all!

Getting there the road is all gravel and they're also some safety ridges near resident area so you literally only can go 10 mph. The location has 2 areas for parking in case it filled which I don't see it happening but plenty of room and there's 3 picnic tables available. Unfortunately I do not recall any restroom but there was hand sanitizer available not sure if the park put it out or if someone volunteered and place it out. The trail is very rocky and it also weaves through - also one may say it's hilly as well so if you have knee issues this would not be the trail for you or bring you some good walking sticks. I'm glad I did use my hiking boots because I feel shoes will probably have you sliding - highly suggest to avoid this part if it rained previously. Other than that it's very shady and make sure you bring bug spray as well so you can reapply but the trail was very clear and markings every half a mile. There's three types of trails so make sure you follow the marker assigned for the specific trail you're trying to explore. since this is one of the better trails please be cautious there are mountain bikers and I advise any hikers or runners not to run with any music so you can hear others. Last but not least there were only two benches available during the eight mile hike PS - please review the path scheduling so you're walking in the correct direction for that day. Happy hiking!!!

The trail was built 25 years ago on a defunct part of the Grand Trunk Railway bed. An point of trivia that you may find interesting is that Michigan's own 1970s rock band Grand Funk Railroad was named after this very same Grand Trunk Railway! Trivia aside, the Lakelands Trail runs westward from the Hamburg trailhead through some beautifully wooded wetlands past Zukey Lake, one of eight lakes on a connected chain of lakes. On this trail, you'll find the hugely popular 90-year old Zukey Lake Tavern perched on the lake's scenic waterfront. The well maintained trail continues on through mature woodlands until arriving at the historic railroad depot in Pinckney, Michigan, with a modest population of 2,412. This 17 mile round trip between two small Michigan towns fueled by sunshine and fresh air is a real pleasure of a ride...5-stars.

Please no I did not notice any restrooms available there were a few benches scattered through at least the half of the trail that I went to. I feel in the summer that this place's vegetation will be so full and that's being said make sure you bring some bug spray because it was the end of November probably the last 50° weather and I still saw some bugs. Also it's definitely a great place for biking seem like they have a few side dirt roads that you probably could take but at the same time it's gravel for easy walking. In the trail was very clean and there were trash bins/doggy bags available - maybe it should just a cold months but that's normally all used up or gone so I'm happy with this location. Since I only did half I would like to try the other half which at the parking lot you can tell that seem to be the center point of the whole trail. Happy hiking!!!

One of the posts said that this is because of the amount of geese that have been frequenting the lake this year or because of runoff from rain. We went once before we knew about the e coli issues and actually had a great time. The beach (we thought) appeared clean and the water was the perfect cool temperature on a hot summer day. The swimming area went deep enough that we could float away from the littles on the shoreline. There were two life guards on duty. They have really amazing facilities where a get together was being held under the pavilion. They have a snack station, but we brought our own chips and sodas. They also have a splash pad with water slides. This area was closed when we went, and you have to pay a little more to access this area. They also have some cool trails and a frisbee golf course. You can bring dogs, but not to the designated swimming area. I hope they figure out the e coli issues because we would love to go back.

I applied bug spray very liberally and the 'squitos were still all over me like I was the blood buffet. If only I cross country skied I wouldn't have to worry about that sort of thing. Trails, fishing, golf, a couple ball fields and picnic tables. Huron Meadows has nowhere near the amenities of the upper tier of the Metroparks but you can probably find some zen spots out in nature here. I will say it's pretty savvy for the chain to put a park out in Livingston County as they can soak the taxpayers with a millage for the whole park system. Sure, Kensington, the crown jewel is barely over the border into Oakland County but with Huron Meadows, Livingston gets to have a Metropark of its own. It could use some improvements - disc golf, a sledding hill, a paved bike trail or dirt mountain bike trails and a pool would all help round out the park's offerings. Even one or two of these would do a lot for this park. As it is, there's some pretty scenery here, but it's not worth heading out of your way unless you're being a Huron-Clinton Metropark completist like me. Kensington and Hudson Mills are far nicer parks.
