Home Instead in Macon, GA found me just the right person. Now with my CNA Belinda thru Home Instead, my life is much easier and I feel better. I weave a lot when walking and Belinda is always there to catch me since I'm a fall risk. She gets me to my doctors' appointments on time, waits for me, and brings me home, always to fresh linens. She is family now and I couldn't manage without her. Home Instead takes all the paperwork off my plate. That's the way to go, too! I'm so pleased with this company. I first used them earlier this year when I was so displeased with the day shift of nurses at the hospital I was in. So we called Home Instead and they sent me a nurses' assistant within the hour. So when I needed help after my hospital discharge, naturally I called Home Instead and I was so lucky to get the same CNA who had helped at the hospital. No regrets and no complaints!     I've been incredibly disappointed in this place! They're now managed by some huge healthcare…read moremonopoly and getting anything that improves the quality of life corrected is next to impossible. From annoying things like filthy dirty carpets, constantly failing HVAC in each unit, high chef turnover (results in inconsistent food quality), and for the 3rd time in 3 years - no pool. The pool situation is now going on 9 months... the management simply does not care. My father's health has declined significantly due to the lack of care of the management of this facility - exacerbated by the fact that the pool is closed. Additionally adding to the poor rating outside of their control is the fact that the availability of care physicians in the Macon area is ABISMAL. wound, foot, gastro - months long waits. DO NOT SPEND $8K A month after the $400-800k apartment mortgage going here!! It's NOT WORTH IT - THE MANAGMENT IS TERRRRRRRIBLE. Makes me so angry - old ppl are fearful and nobody will speak up accordingly, they all feel trapped.

I have been wrestling with writing this review for about a year now. However, I feel like it is time to share our experiences. My family and I chose Carlyle Place healthcare after visiting several Macon area facilities. We believed that Carlyle could provide the communication, continuity, and care that we needed and expected for our mother. Almost immediately after her placement, we quickly realized the impressions we were given during our tour didn't match our experiences. On day one, we arrived at the appointed time, to experience what should have been a major red flags: no one there to greet us in the memory care unit; staff unaware of her arrival; and no one to be found. Communication with staff was consistently difficult. For an issue to be resolved, it had to work its way from staff to management, all the way to upper management. Understand, each step of the way required me to be persistent through angry, disrespectful, and dismissive replies from Carlyle employees; in short, because I dared to advocate for my mother's care. My active involvement became necessary because throughout my daily visits, I became aware of the significant lack of continuity of the staff (for example, staff turnover especially with nurses and CNA's, this applied to nurse management and upper management as well). This constant change in staff contributed to my need to communicate changes in my mother's status, care plans, etc. All of these things, among others I won't mention, contributed to the undesirable care my mother received. I guess I say all of this to say, the "country club image" that Carlyle Place has in the Macon community doesn't fully reflect the heart of what occurs inside the actual healthcare facility. If I can honor my mother's life and death in one way, it would be to encourage those of you entering the stage of life where you are caring for aging loved ones to pay attention, show up and advocate for them. This is a hard time, but despite the burden, your involvement is vital to the care they ultimately receive regardless the facility.
