Someone forgot to load my appliance dolly onto the truck- so I was able to pick one up closer to me. I was able to return it all together. I left some stove parts in the cab- they would have cost me $200 to replace. Wendy made sure she found them and set them aside for me 3 days after-the fact. I am just so appreciative of the way they bent over backwards to make sure I had everything I needed.

I had two experiences in two days at this location and I wish I could rate them separately but I'll…read moreopt for rating the second one. The first experience would have received a 2 star review. I went in on Sunday morning (11/8/15) and the one guy working was not very helpful. They don't take personal checks so I tried doing debit over the phone and it wasn't working. I made a transfer at the bank thinking maybe there was a charge I hadn't planned on that made my balance too low. I came back in and interrupted the guy's personal call, he waited for the person on the other end to stop talking before telling them he had to help a customer. When the card still didn't work he shrugged and sent us on our way. The next day (11/9/15) I went back. Still had numerous issues with my card which resulted in me spending over 2 hours at the Penske location trying to get the truck rented. The guy working the front desk that day (wish I had his name) was really great and really knew his stuff. He informed me after the first attempt to run my card that MasterCard usually places transaction limits on their cards so I would have to call my bank and have them raise it. Finally!! Some information I could work with. So after two hours of going back and forth with my bank and the card still not working, he came up with a brilliant idea of splitting the amount into 3 transactions that were lower than the MasterCard limit and voila! It worked, and he saved the day as I was about 5 minutes from full on waterworks over this! In addition to his help resolving that situation, he also helped me with a discount I didn't know I qualified for, cut a little off the price for the dolly I rented, did a full walk around the truck with me to identify damage and show me the controls and features, and even gave me a handy tip to increase my gas mileage on the way. Best service I've gotten from anywhere in a long time and definitely the best service when it comes to previous truck rental experiences! The truck itself was very new (only 25,000 miles on it) and as comfortable as possible for a box truck. It was a little weird that the cruise wouldn't set if you were going over 70 but I can see the reasoning there and rarely did I want to go over 70 with the weather and all. I made it from Lansing, MI to Boise, ID in one piece without any issues!!! I'm truly thankful for the gentleman working the counter two weeks ago, he made my day and he really has no idea how much stress he relieved by helping me get this done. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Buyer be ware. I rented a one-way rental from Michigan to Wisconsin. Just a trailer and some…read moremoving pads. It was a 3 day rental and I returned after 1 day of use. I received an e-mail 3 days later with just an invoice attached, no explanation for additional charges. I tried several times to contact the drop off location but only ever got a answering machine. When I contacted U-haul directly they did not know what the charges were for but entered a claim and said the regional manager would contact me. He sent me an e-mail that evening saying they charged me a "cleaning fee" because I did not fold all of the furniture pads and claimed that even though I rented 12 pads on-line I received 11 from the renting location (which they never told me and I didn't even realize since I didn't open the bags and count them) but claimed I only returned 10. He did reluctantly refund the cleaning fee but left the missing furniture pad fee that I never received. It's a small amount, about $6 but not something I was expecting to receive or have to battle after the fact. I guess the price of a customer is $6 as I will not use them again.
