I was filled with Joy that I haven't felt in a long time, and those who saw me knew it, and had to giggle at me a little because this good old country boy drove up in a 2014Toyota Prius plug-in loaded down with camping gear to a place that doesn't normally see a Prius from California. Since I was there I had to pay my respects to Ben Jones by ordering Cooter's Classic Burger, and this nice lady told me about the other Cooter's restaurants that I can visit, I didn't realize it was Alma Viator the late Ben Jones (aka Cooter) widowed wife. The cashier/cook lady kindly told me who she was, and my jaw dropped. I felt so blessed that someone like her would talk to me just a little country boy from a little town called Cere's California. I was also incredibly nervous to be around such Redneck royalty, so I mustered up my strength to tell her how so many rednecks loved her & her husband in California, and how amazing Cooter's Place is to me. Truly a holy place for country boys like me, but unfortunately I forgot to mention to her that it was the character Cooter that inspired me to be a dealer mechanic, but I was rudely interrupted by my girlfriend asking for an autograph which was inappropriate for a grieving widow. I also wanted to give her my deepest condolences for her loss, I wish I could have met Ben, he truly was a talented man, so inspirational in so many ways. For a little while I was in Heaven surrounded by so many memories of the joy that the Dukes of Hazzard brought to my childhood. I truly hope to visit this place again someday. Cooter's Place holds a special place in my heart. Thank you Alma for making this experience so incredibly memorable for me. I appreciate your' hard work keeping Cooter's Place open.

The backstory of what went into the stunts and how a lot of it was trial and error and memorization was interesting. The hardest part was realizing my own naivety and flat out ignorance as it related to the confederate heritage that undergirded the show. From the car, the flag and heritage the theme of the show aimed to keep alive was tough to come to terms with and at the same time reminded me of the innocence of being a child and just enjoying the action and comedic experience the show brought. I bought a souvenir and I haven't even unpacked it almost a month later.

He pointed out many different shapes of limestones around us. He also mentioned lots about minerals, Stalactites, Stalagmites etc. I enjoyed his jokes and he definitely made the early tour worth it. With the ticket, you can also visit Car & Carriage Caravan Museum, Shenandoah Heritage Village, and Toy Town Junction. The cafe sells some snacks and chocolate. All the staff were very nice and friendly. Bathroom is clean. You can stay there as long as you want. visit all the museum and the carven . No time limit. Big parking lot in the front. Very convenient. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Overall, I'd tell people to save some money and go to a smaller local cavern honestly. Around $90 for the 4 of us, and that included a Giant card discount. The caverns are quite large and beautiful as to be expected. Other tours we have been on had a person walk you through and talk to you about everything, not this one. It was a free for all, people pushing through, kids running wild, quite unenjoyable. There were staff members in some areas, they were kids (16yr~olds). You could ask them questions but you got the kind of answer expected from a teenager. There were 2 teens working by the organ. They were talking to each other very loudly, extremely distracting and they offered no information about the organ when asked. Even though these caverns are larger than previous ones we visited, we ended up going through them much faster just because of how people were pushing through you. The experience was not worth $100.

Plus everything they are sale is home made fresh from the farm and the ground I appreciate the farmers so much for working 24/7 and 7 days a week making sure we have fresh food products! I had heard good things about their pumpkin patch last year and wanted to check it out this fall…read more The pumpkin patches I've visited in the past didn't have an entrance fee and $10 felt like a bit much to pay per person (especially for a 2 year old!) But now that we've been I think that the amount and variety of activities justifies the price. It's also nice that everything inside is included in the admission fee. My three kids had a blast exploring all of the grounds with various cute playground structures, swings, and slides. Several gardens, a tug of war station, a zip line, a small petting/feeding area, bunnies to watch, giant jenga and connect four - all generously spaced out with plenty of shaded areas and seating for parents and grandparents to relax. The corn maze is large but not TOO large. We took a photo of the maze map and were able to make our way out in 15 minutes (we took our stroller in without a problem). The tractor ride up to the pumpkin patch was a lot of fun for the kids and the views are very pretty. They did a great job of sanitizing in between rides as well. You can pick your pumpkins from the fields or from the store - both options are $0.50/lb). One thing I wouldn't recommend is their food. While very reasonably priced ($3.50 for hamburgers, $2 for hot dogs, and $2 for fries) the line was excessively long, the food took forever to arrive, and also wasn't very good. It's very common for haunts to set up a long line and chase people through, which is okay if you don't really like haunted houses and just want to get it over with. But this place is different. They stick to small groupings which are very well spaced out. The rooms and make-up are great, but most important the actors really take ownership of their individual rooms and interact with you in a scary, but also fun, kind of way. Can't say enough about how much my daughter and I liked Darkwood Manor. Well worth the money and the drive!

I served in the Division (C/1/183rd INF) back in 1990-1991, left due to a job change. Always have fond memories of the 29th...especially field time, movement to contact, repeat....who was the crazy Ranger qualed GO who set off pyro to jump through the smoke as an intro? But the museum itself is small, and a fully loaded magazine. Though the Division was formed for WWI, Virginians have been fighting since from before there was an America...remember GW? Plenty of static displays and historic weapons, especially interesting was the WWII exhibits...wish I had more time. Will go back and spend a few hours. The docent was a former 1SG and a pleasant guy. Get the word out and support this museum. 29, Let's go!

I really, really like this smalltown indie theater, especially after the ownership change in 2026…read more (Nothing wrong with the previous ownership, it's just next-level now.) It's a three-screen theater that strikes a good balance between mainstream/current Hollywood fare and art-house one one big screen, one medium, and one tiny back room. I mostly go for the art films (documentaries, independent, and foreign films), which they show in once-weekly showings for four seasons of about 10 weeks per year with short breaks between. These are a real highlight of my weekly leisure time, and I buy seasons tickets for myself and one other person, sometimes two. The films are well-curated, rarely do I not like or love one, and the introductions genuinely add to the enjoyment (there is also after-film discussion but I'm not a late-night person so I don't stay for those). The new ownership brings an obviously fresh perspective, clear commitment to investing in the facilities, and welcome but not too dramatic changes to various things like the snacks and ordering lines. Nick is making upgrades carefully without too much risk of fixing what ain't broke, which I think is prudent. There's fresh paint and decor, a new Visulite logo short clip that is worlds better than the nauseating previous one, and a generally obvious love of film/cinema is on display. The previous owner loved cinema too, but it just felt a bit stagnant, and now it feels fresh and revitalized. One thing that stands out to me is that someone is really investing time and considerable talent in things like pre-screening intro shorts. I was at the anniversary showing of Blue Velvet and there was a sequence of interview snippets and short excerpts from David Lynch films that showed before the feature, and it was really seamlessly put together and coherent. That doesn't just happen: it takes skill, planning, care, and effort. I really appreciate things like that and get a very strong, optimistic sense for the future as a result. Another thing I want to note: I think I understand some of reasons why one of the theaters is tiny and dingy. If you learn how the Hollywood studios force a one-size-fits-all model on their distributors, who do the same to theaters, you will understand why theaters maintain a very low cost option to cut their losses when they are forced to do things that will not only fail to make money, but actually lose them money. I'm sure I'd understand a lot more if I were in the biz myself, but I think I get the gist of it enough to give them credit for adapting to a pretty harsh, unforgiving business environment.
