This may sound a bit strange but of all those aquariums I enjoy the Shreveport aquarium the most. It's just a enjoyable place to chill out and recharge. When we visit massive, hundred million dollar aquariums, we are often herded through the exhibits with hundreds of people. It is hard to truly enjoy an aquarium in that type of environment. Plus, how many fish do you really want to see? At the Shreveport aquarium my wife and I will often sit in the first opening gallery for 10 or 15 minutes. Soft instrumental music is playing and the fish are gingerly pecking at a coral reef or playing with one another. If a loud child and family comes in all you have to do is wait about 90 seconds and they will pass through. Enjoy their excitement and sense of wonder. We can also spend 10 minutes at the Shark Tank and another 10 or 15 minutes with the stingrays. Most of the other exhibits we view a little more quickly. Sometimes a staff member is eager to tell you about a new addition or some type of exciting aquatic behavior. This is a small aquarium, but what it has, it does very well. If you go, take the time to pause and chill out an among the hundreds of finny creatures. This is a different type of aquarium experience. Check the website for feeding times. My wife and I each have an annual pass which cost $50 a year each. It is well worth it.

I think, we took our time and still did everything in like 30 mins. It's such a shame since the surrounded area was BEAUTIFUL! I thought the gemstone area was cool. Not sure if I would consider it part of the aquarium. This is very comparable to and equally as disappointing as the sea life aquarium in downtown San Antonio. Save your money and time. If you're anywhere near Corpus Christi go to the Texas State Aquarium. That is what a true aquarium should be, and it's by far the most fun and worth every dime! This is a place for toddlers in our opinion. The highlight was hand feeding rays. That's it, didn't ruin our trip thanks to the rest of the cool places around! Don't waste your time or money here.

But this Friday night they had a live band playing out back which is kind of the point of the EBM whole group of businesses. Good music. Then someone turns on some rapid pop/rock/rap crap in the bar and blasts it loud enough to almost drown out the live music, but mostly just make them step all over each other so it's loud enough to make it impossible to understand either. Look, I get it ... loud music at a bar Friday night. This was effing awful and I won't be back. And if the other EBM businesses do this crap I won't be back there either. I really enjoyed Frozen Perogue and the other places look good. But the ear pollution of competing music at Bayou Axe Throwing ruined the whole thing.

It makes the process feel confident and fun. I made a beautiful glass bottle and my sister made a lovely ornament. In addition to the standard paperweights are more creative options such as: olive oil bottle, soap dispenser, votive holder, glasses and vases. They were so positive and professional. I was just visiting, but if I lived here I'd definitely schedule a group session. They thought of everything: pre-mixed color combos for frit and even a place to sit while blowing your glass. The only thing I might have loved is if instead of just two colors I could have customized with three. Other than that, I loved the possibilities! The place runs on whatever grants they can obtain, private donations, fund raisers and admission fees. The staff is made up of All volunteers and you can tell they love the animals but have limited funds. They are only open for visitors one day a week on Saturdays from 12-5pm to limit the amount of stress on the animals. The admission is minimal at $5 per person for adults and $4 for children aged 4-12yrs, 3yrs and under are free. The day we went was a scorcher at over 100 degrees. On our first walk around most of the cats were sleeping or lying under the shade. We stuck around for a little bit and got to see putty tat and Gomez play fighting and jumping in and out of their pool. Moses was all the way in the back of the sanctuary and popped his head up our way a few times. Boudreaux also got up and moved around as did Delilah and Samson. Samson was also in and out of his pool too. Morticia was pacing in her cage the whole time we were there. We think they were all ready to eat as we heard it was a feeding day. Unfortunately we didn't get to witness that as we had to go and no one was able to give a time as to when the feeding would take place. That would be something we wold go back to witness. They have lawn chairs, swings and umbrellas for you to sit and watch the cats, and on a cooler day I would stay for hours to observe. We went back into the office to cool off for a little bit before going back out to see them again. The stories are so sad how people think these exotic cats would make great pets until they become about 300 lbs. Others were abused or neglected, these truly are rescue cats who now have a safe permanent home and regular vet care. The office is basically a small gift shop with T-shirts, mugs, magnets etc. They also sell bottled drinks and the proceeds go back to the cats. Everyone was friendly, but I would suggest the staff (volunteers) be more professional, when taking a group on the tour and talking about each cat. The individual we had providing us a tour talked way to fast and at times mumbled. She also chose to talk while walking ahead of us so her back was to us and we couldn't hear. She was very sarcastic when explaining each cats situation and where they came from, here tone was not towards the cats but the individuals who they had to rescue these cats from. In my opinion more focus on the cats and less on the nimrods (as she liked to call them) that kept these cats as pets. I would also suggest some form of typed up sign on each enclosure which gives the back story and information. The enclosures did have name plates for each cat and a poster in the gift shop provided a picture of all the cats that are currently residing there. Currently they have 15 cats. One cat passed away last year (Robin) but he is still pictured on the poster in the gift shop in case you want to see him. This is a small place and won't take much of your day unless you just want to hang out there all day with your new friends but it's definitely a fun and interesting place to check out at least once when you're in the area. It is located about 25 minutes from our hotel (Horseshoe) and definitely worth the drive to see these beautiful cats. I will go back to observe and hopefully see a feeding.
