We have three young kids...we dont get out much. However, when we do the decision as to which cafe to choose causes much discussion. This said, it was with much regret that I chose Brick Lane. I will admit that there has been an enormous improvement from the previous owners (decore, menu and service) my eating experience left me bed ridden for 3 days. My very pricey ceasar salad arrived with limp, slimy leaves and a sweaty side of dressing. The chicken needed to be rehydrated with steady gulps of water. It was obvious that my order sat under the heat lamp for far too long. I should have been honest and sent it back, instead suffered my greatest case of food poisoning ever. Will I condemn the new kid on the block? No. They can do a decent coffee and I am grateful they keep the machine on later than most. However, the menu lacks the contemporary Australian cuisine that I've grown to enjoy.... fyi- my wife disagrrees with everything Ive written. She really her lasagna. read more

From the moment we arrived for breakfast on a busy Saturday morning we had excellent service at Brick Lane. The staff were professional, friendly and attentive. The menu is impressive but we struggled to go past the first item listed for the All Day Breakfast, The Triple P = pulled pork pancakes with Jack Daniels sauce, apple matchstick and bacon butter. It was insanely good and I can HIGHLY recommend. Portion size was BIG and very reasonably priced (besides, we saved $$s cos we certainly couldn't eat lunch). As a Melbourne girl, I'm always worried about ordering coffee in a country town but we both enjoyed delicious strong latte's. I've got to think of more excuses to head to Albury because Brick Lane is definitely a cut above the ordinary. Insider Tip: If you can, head upstairs and enjoy the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, above the traffic in the tree-tops. Loved it! read more
