I've been bullied and my friend have been bullied for the majority of my time here at this school. There has been only one instant where a staff member stood up and it was one pe teacher. In a he past month there had been reports against the same group of guys and nothing has happened, one of the reports had been given straight to the vice principal and nothing happened, he didn't even go and confirm this happened with the teacher even though it happens every single time we have that class. The music teacher is a trumpet player who I've seen put down his own students to make himself feel better. He does nothing when it comes to bullying or harrasment and by this point where most of his students are being affected it's pathetic. Students are scared to report anything because nothing will happen and if it does that consequences will be put onto the victim and not the aggressor. A kid killed himself recently for bullying at this school and from what I've heard nothing happened to those people who did the bullying and the memorial put in place has been brought down. The thing I've been told is that the principal called it "an eyesore".

Hands down, the best high school in Santa Clara…read more ACADEMICS - The school has been accredited for many years now and offers many AP classes, including: European & US History, Economics, English, Biology, Spanish, Statistics, Calculus, etc. Great group of teachers and staff too. SPORTS & SPIRIT TEAMS - We've got all the traditional high school sports you can think of from water polo to basketball to tennis. If your child wants to play football or join a spirit team (cheer, dance, or the Chargettes dance/drill team), then they should really go here. SPIRIT - The Homecoming Week and Fantastics (Battle of the Classes) celebrations are fantastic. For the last few years there has also been a Black & Blue Olympics, hosted by the city's teen center, for both high schools in Santa Clara. EXTRACURRICULARS - Lots. There are multicultural clubs, service clubs, an ungarbage crew (recycling), Link Crew (orientation leaders), colorguard and band, theatre, and more. We also boast a Sony Star Class Program. FACILITIES - Well they are really giving the school a facelift in recent years, although before I loved the way the classrooms and gyms looked bc that's what I grew up seeing when I visited. But can't complain about spankin' new facilities or a very nice theater. P.S. Class of 2009! :)

Ah man, really?! My former middle school deserves better than a three star rating…read more As a Cougar alum who graduated in the mid-2000's, I am proud to have gone here. It is one of four middle schools in Santa Clara and is located conveniently next to the city's Youth Activity Center (YAC) and Teen Center. ACADEMICS - I find the academic instruction to be good, although maybe not as high-achieving as that of Peterson. In 6th grade the students will have the same set of 30-35 students in every class while teachers will change. Then in 7th/8th grade there will be the same students in every "core" class (where one period is Language Arts and the other Social Studies) while in the other classes the teachers and students will change. Additionally, in 7th/8th grades there will be the option to take an elective class, which includes: leadership, art, TAing (teacher assistants), and a few more. SPORTS - There is a variety of afterschool sport programs here, including: volleyball, basketball, wrestling, soccer, and more. When I was a student here, there was a no cuts rule which was unique against the other middle schools. The wonderful thing about this is it encourages fitness and doesn't exclude any student. FACILITIES - The facilities are nice but unfortunately the school does not have school lockers or a gym like that of Peterson and Buchser since those two are former high schools. However, this is rarely a problem as textbooks are distributed in sets of two (one for the student to take home and one kept in class) and the YAC allows the middle school to use its gym. FUN FACTS - The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (science, tech, engineering, math) is held here! Also, it may or may not be true that the principal Stan Garber plays whiffle ball with students in the mornings :).

This school is a little hidden gem in the middle of Santa Clara…read more We are very, very, very happy we found it. Staff is very kind and helpful. Teachers are very nice and experimented. It's a catholic school and it's a very welcoming environment to anyone: all ethnicities, backgrounds, religions... They will not force you to something or treat you differently because of A or B. What I really like is indeed how diverse it is and that it also offer a good "work-life balance" for the little ones. St Lawrence offers a good education, with values and has a great after school program. It is competitive the right amount for us. I visited several other private schools but they were either not diverse, or way too competitive, 1 fit all style, and with too many helicopter parents. I want my kids to have a nurturing childhood, discover different kinds of people and not develop little robots that would do 5th grade maths in 2nd grade. It is so easy to fall in that trap, especially now and here in the Silicon Valley. What I also loved is that they offer Spanish, Drama and art (with a real specialized teachers) embedded in the curriculum. They have a recreative after school program (Crafts and games), but they also offer thematic programs (chess, programming, art, magician...) for a small extra fee. They have a competitive swim team on site (amazing!). Some things had to be stopped during Covid (after school, swim team), but it is my understanding that these will re-open in September 2021. Cost wise, it is way more affordable than most private schools in the Bay Area, and you can apply for aid as well. The school re-opened part time in Oct 2020 and full time in Jan 2021. Was such a help for the kids (and parents) I imagine. The only "complaint" I would have, is that they should do a little more anticipation and be better at organizing or setting up things (for example pool reopening, Science teacher coming in person etc.) But I blame most of it on a challenging 2020 year - for all of us. Thank you Mrs Lares, the Principal and the entire St Lawrence team!

Just really immature and self important. It's all about them. Ps if Carina is still principal she encouraged bullying and I saw ad heard her myself. "Now is not the time " during class time. Next thing you know someone is getting ganged up on on the playground. She's a piece of work. She makes herself that way. She's loony I have many more examples. When half the class is crying on the last day of school something is wrong. So they promoted her. Sick.

Even more so, two of my older sisters have graduated from TKA brining my experience with the school up to eight or more years. The most popular and incredible aspect of The King's Academy is, without a single doubt, the teachers. Being a college-preparatory academy, TKA desires extreme academic excellence. This could result in a strict relationship with staff but nothing could be further from the truth. I have developed long-lasting and deep relationships with my instructors, bringing forth enriching, life-changing conversations and friendships. To anyone who not only wants a great education but a caring, mentoring, loving environment with educators, I would not hesitate to recommend TKA to the highest of my ability. As a long-time student I couldn't be happier with my education and the relationships I've developed with my teachers here at The King's Academy.
