Never met the administrator until we withdrew our son. He only went here for 3wks it was so bad. I was attracted to Global Montessori's focus on the development of the whole person - physical, social, emotional, & cognitive. With a shy and sensitive kid, I was hoping that this kind of a start to her schooling would foster more confidence and critical thinking skills than the typical preschool environment. My expectations clearly weren't high enough, since we've seen that, and so much more. She started in the Toddler room in the old GMA location, on the Country Club Plaza. We moved with the school into it's new Prairie Village home, and have been thrilled with the expanded facility and space, not to mention it is just down the road from our neighborhood. The teachers are so supportive, and patient, and hold actual degrees in childhood education and Montessori methods. My daughter is now in a "Children's House" classroom, with students aged 3-6. She is happy and confident and excited to see her teachers and friends, every single day. I wish I felt that way about going to work at my own small business, every day! I like that GMA has a partnership with a local organic, real food company that provides all of the GMA students with snacks and completely natural, whole food lunches. I wish that they had more customized options than the 2 offered - standard or vegetarian. Meals are served family style, and the children serve themselves, so custom meals are just not practical. I get that. But my little one is allergic to dairy, and the standard offerings tend to use cheese regularly. So we deal with the sniffles and mild milk allergic reactions at least once a month. I don't know how tree nut allergies are handled, so if that is a concern, you should ask the hard questions! As I look towards kindergarten and elementary school, I am confident that we are staying with GMA for the next few years, at least. I never intended to have a child enrolled in a "private school," beyond pre-school. We live on the KS side and pay the taxes to live in a great school district. But I cannot identify one single thing that the Shawnee Mission school district could offer for my kid that would be better than the foundation she is receiving at the Global Montessori Academy.

We have had a kid in every classroom at some point, from infant through school age, and had wonderful and caring staff in every room. LPA does a great job with transitions - when my kids have been in clingy phases, at drop off someone will hold the kiddo while mom and dad leave until kiddo is ready to get down and play. Or when my kids have transitioned to the next room up as they grew older, if kiddo wanted to be dropped off in the old room, that wasn't a problem - kiddo was happy to see their previous room teacher, and then the teacher would transition them to the new room after mom/dad left. If you are a nursing mom, the infant room was great about following feeding cues and not over feeding baby or wasting breast milk. The preK program is wonderful - my oldest loved it and learned a ton, but it is still very play based. My youngest particularly loved Evelyn, and the feeling is clearly mutual. Evelyn is amazing with the kiddos and my daughter loves being in her class. If you need summer or off school care, the options are great. My oldest goes over school breaks and in the summer, and they plan field trips and activities at the center for the school age kids. He has fun, and I love knowing that he's being active, having fun, and not forgetting everything he learned during the school year.

The director Jill and her staff of teachers and caregivers are excellent. The environment is peaceful, caring, safe and inspiring. The curriculum is well planned, age appropriate and organized. The lunch and snack menu is great too. Our preschooler's development has always been clearly communicated so we can work on what she is learning at home. There are no tears at drop off here like in the past because our daughter feels so safe and knows she will have fun here. So thankful for LaPetite and their caring, professional staff!

This school is dangerous. Teacher should have been arrested, not promoted!!! My daughter only went…read morehere for TWO WEEKS. In those two weeks, my four year repeatedly told me her teachers were mean and she did not want to go to school. We had to drag her through the door crying. We witnessed other children also begging not to go into the classroom. The teachers did not greet us when we walked in at all, until I complained that no one was even saying hi to my child. They say they use conscious discipline but my child was put in timeout and threatened, and the director seemed clueless about the principles of Conscious discipline. When I picked my child up on April 2nd, she immediately told me that the part time teacher in the room had grabbed her "really hard and it really hurt". She put both hands on her hips when I asked her how she was grabbed. When I asked why, she self reported that she had gotten off her letter and was not listening and the teacher was upset. However, that night at bedtime I saw the bruises on both hips in the shape of fingers and thumbs. It took a few days for all the bruises to appear fully. I kept her home from school and demanded they check their cameras. They tried to say that they couldn't find any incidents. Eventually they were able to find the incident based on all the accurate details my 4 YEAR OLD was able to tell us. I watched it and it was concerning to say the least. The teacher chased after her, grabbed her on both hips and then held her under one arm squeezing her, brought her to the other side of the classroom and put her down in a chair and pointed in her face. You can tell how angry the teacher is on the video, you obviously cannot tell how hard she grabbed her. My child scratched her at this point trying to protect herself and was sent to the office. The school agreed that the teacher should not have picked her up like she did and she is "young and inexperienced". They had just hired her. But then instead of firing her they promoted her to full time teacher in that room. They kept insisting that the bruises did not come from the teacher and they think it's a coincidence. They sent me many screenshots of Google searches on how long it takes bruises to form. It had been 10 hours from the time she was assaulted to the time I noticed the bruises, plenty of time for a young fair skinned child to bruise. People can bruise immediately . They made several comments about how they don't think the bruises happened at their school and stories of other parents who had reported them and ENDED up losing their children. This felt like a threat, like they would do anything to protect themselves. Their decision to promote the teacher was very concerning and I ended up pulling her from their care. They also kept all of my money. I paid 1800$ on the first for the whole month and the two weeks prior and was told sorry you have to give a month's notice and was not refunded at all. My child is traumatized from this school and has ptsd symptoms. She can't even be in a daycare setting anymore because of this school, she just cries for her parents and feels unsafe. It is truly heartbreaking the damage these teachers caused. They should all be ashamed of themselves. I hope no other children here have had this happen but I would be shocked if it hasn't happened before or since. Don't take your children here.

My kiddo needed services from Resolve after being referred by her former therapist. This review is…read morenot a reflection of the other metro locations and solely based on this location alone. We used Resolve from January 2023- up until around late last summer. Location: 5/10 The location is ideal, but can be far for folks that live further south. Sadly, it was inconvenient for us. Telehealth is available, but keep this in mind for evening appointments when are battling rush hour and peak travel times. Availability: 2/10 The LSCW we were paired had limited availability. She booked clients back to back, with little breaks in between. This made it difficult to schedule anything with her. Her latest appointment was 8pm; which worked for us briefly, but it quickly led to her burnout and emotional unavailability to my child. It was also pretty difficult to get ahold of her. Initially, I had to reach out to the front desk/admin to relay a message or schedule an appointment. I finally requested her direct email to reach out, which slightly improved communication. Vibe Check: 2/10 The office itself is nice, but the vibe was way off to me. The decor reminds me of a dentist office in the late 70's, early 80s and smelled like the plastic bib they place over you before starting a cleaning. It just did not feel very welcoming or inviting to me. I always felt awkward being in the waiting room. I know it is not easy having your child go to therapy, but nobody looked happy to be there. It was the ultimate doom and gloom. Nap time: 0/10 During my child's sessions, the therapist would wrap themselves in a blanket and doze off. This was no surprise to me, as she scheduled her last appointment at 8pm. Eventually, she started cutting back her hours to be done around 5, but at that point, burnout had set in and the damage to my kid had been done. This is beyond unprofessional. Improper Termination: 1/10 I really do not think termination was properly done with my kiddo in a way that provided closure. Luckily, we were able to find services with another therapist, but there was just lack of communication and closure at the end of our time with her. Again, this is due to burnout, which is common with therapists that book the way she did. Overall: 2/10 I cannot recommend this Resolve location to anyone I love and care about. I honestly believe there is not great management at this location because I observed burnout and the therapists did not seem happy to be there. There are better options in the city for therapy services for your kiddo. (KC PCIT)
