But everything else was a solid 3. Nothing wrong with it at all... But, I was underwhelmed based on my previous experiences. When we checked in, the host was fine. The room was fine. The bathroom did leave some things to be desired. There was not a good place to put your toiletries. We also had to climb into a very deep bathtub to get to the shower... If you are clumsy, like me, you may walk away with a couple of bruises. The house itself was very pretty, and was decorated in a manner appropriate for the property. I would've liked to seen some warm blanket to sit out on the patio with, board games, or puzzles to pass the time. There was only one sofa, and it was not in a cozy little nook where you would want to hang out. The food was fine. The menu is heavy on carbs and sweet breakfast treats. They were executed well enough. But there was not any particular breakfast that knocked my socks off. Again it was fine. The location was very convenient to downtown Asheville. It would be a two minute drive or a 10 minute walk to downtown Asheville. This bed-and-breakfast did not appear to be owned and operated by the hosts, rather an absentee corporation or business. I think that made the difference. Everything was fine, but it didn't have that touch of home that you expect when you stay at a bed and breakfast. For example, when we wanted to use the television, and needed some assistance, when we called the number that was left, the call was blocked. On a whim , we texted Fortunately, they responded right away. But ultimately, after 6 PM you are on your own in terms of staffing. Overall, I can recommend Beaufort House, but I think next time I will try something different.

However, I was expecting this to be a special and elegant experience and it was not. When we arrived during the specific check in time the door was locked and no one was in the front office. It turns out they were showing someone else to their room but we didn't know that. We just stood out on the porch not knowing what to do until someone finally came to the door. There's no reason they couldn't have the front door unlocked during the limited window of check in time. The person who showed us around said there would be "heavy continental breakfast ". However, it turned out the breakfast was probably the very absolute minimum they could provide and still call it breakfast. It was very disappointing. If I'm not mistaken it was only available from 8:30 until 9:30 or something very limited like that. Finally, there was no lotion in our bathroom, only shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap. I would stay there again but I would have to weigh the options of amenities and prices of other hotels. A regular mid price hotel has more amenities than what was offered when we stayed.

The breakfast features fresh fruit, delicious eggs, potatoes, and a variety of juices. We are not the typical frustrated novelist who always post reviews. During our trip to Asheville we wanted to experience the city but also have cabin time. Wildberry lodge provided us with the most relaxing and comfortable experience we could ever ask for. Wild berry is definitely a way to get out of the city and just enjoy the quietness of nature (without going too far of course!) The drive itself is around 25-30 mins from downtown Asheville - there are several ways to get here but the new foundland road was probably the best route. It's easy to stay in the cabin and go enjoy yourself in the city during the day or evening. Ken and Glenda were very hands off and so friendly - if you have questions on where to go or what to do they can accommodate everything! The main cabin has multiple rooms - gooseberry and some other room options. This is where you check in, get breakfast, game room, sit on the deck, coffee/cider bar and chit chat with other guests if your heart desires. The best part of our stay was Glenda's breakfasts! Her recipes were featured in an Asheville bed and breakfast recipe book! We signed up for a bfast time the day prior (anywhere from 8am-930am) and she is usually ready whenever we get there! Our first breakfast included - garden frittata, bacon, homemade English muffin, rosemary roasted potatoes and to finish it off - poached pear. Our second breakfast included pumpkin pecan pancakes, cranberry/apple chutney and sausages and ended it with a mixed berry cobbler. Everything was superb and very filling! We stayed in the honey moon suite to get the full cabin - on our own - experience and it was gorgeous! The bed is super comfy, everything was clean and up to date. It was almost like glamping! Only downside to our visit was the drive at night can be a bit scary if you are not use to driving on mountains. One of the first nights it was raining so it was slightly difficult coming back to the cabin from downtown Asheville. Just make sure you have a car and drive safely! We understand that their restaurant is no longer operation except for breakfast. But, if you are able to reserve breakfast, it's well worth it. We loved the breakfast on the outdoor patio of the main historic house. It is a peaceful setting and the food was excellent. Kudos to the chef/server Kim for her work. We will certainly stay at Mountain Magnolia again and recommend their facilities to anyone visiting Hot Springs.

We booked a 2-night stay at Mountain Magnolia bed & breakfast for June 11-13th. This was our second stay here as our first time was three years prior. We even booked the same upstairs corner room with a huge deck and balcony. The weather during our stay was humid and rainy. Upon checking in on an early Friday evening, the room appeared clean and welcoming. We immediately took showers to wash off the sweat and rain from our afternoon clay shooting. There is a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, however we didn't use it because of the stains on the tub floor. Even though it was most likely clean and sanitary, it wasn't screaming "come soak in me" the least bit. After a terrible dinner in town, we visited the hot springs hot tubs before coming back to our room for the night. It's unfortunate that the Inn did away with the restaurant they use to have down stairs. I loved that restaurant; it was incredibly convenient and they offered an amazing menu. Really bummed because the restaurant was half the appeal. Day 2, we woke up later than usual, but the keeper had our breakfast waiting for us on a tray downstairs. Yogurt and granola, blueberry bran muffin, mixed fruit bowl, coffee, and a hard boiled egg. Yummy. I had booked a massage with a gal that came to the inn around 11 am, and she did an amazing job. Then we traveled down the road to the rafting place and rafted the river. By the time we returned to the Inn, the keeper was gone for the night. Which was fine, except we were in desperate need of fresh towels. The bath towels they provided us with the room were soaking wet and dirty. We searched the entire Inn looking for a linen closet with no luck. So we finally made the decision to "borrow" the towels from the downstairs room that was clean and had no residents. At least, we think it had no residents. Ugh. I really hope we didn't take some poor couple's towels who had a super late arrival. Whoever thought that 2 towels for 2 adults for 2 nights was enough, was so wrong. I need 2 towels just for myself for 1 night. Lol. Anyway, after stealing towels from another room (don't worry, we left a note), we showered and headed to bed. Breakfast was available to us the second morning, but we were only interested in the coffee before hitting the road home. Here's a list of the positives: Parking is easy. The rooms are big, clean and welcoming. They provide WiFi. Checking in and out is easy, smooth and hassle-free. The balconies provide a beautiful view. The corner balcony is huge. The bed is super comfortable. There's air conditioning, a ceiling fan and extra fan in the wardrobe. There's a fireplace and extra blankets (also in the wardrobe). There's hangers in the wardrobe, in case you forgot to bring some. They also put the hair dryer in the wardrobe. They gave you a built-in treasure hunt game called "where is everything?" You have access to power outlets to charge your electronic devices. Breakfast is awesome. The inn keeper is nice and welcoming. They provide you with shampoo, conditioner and body wash in a wall dispenser. And the bathrooms have a jacuzzi tub. Here's a list of the negatives: Cell service is inconsistent (which isn't really their fault, it's just a spotty location). They only allow smoking in one area on the premises, and that area doesn't include your private balcony. You can only use the fireplace in the winter. They only provide you with 2 towels, which isn't enough for an extended stay. You could probably get more towels by asking the inn keeper, but make sure you do it in the morning when she's around and not evening when she's gone. The tubs could be cleaner. There is no tv in the rooms. The wardrobe in the room has no handles, making the opening of the doors quite a hassle. The drawers in the bottom of the wardrobe are broken, making them unusable. You can't turn the ceiling fan on high without it shaking uncontrollably, giving you the feeling of being in a deadly earth quake. The bathroom is small with no counter, leaving little room to place your makeup or toiletries. And the balcony is very unpleasant in the rain (they need to provide a table umbrella, or small gazebo of sorts). Normally, one would look at the negatives and think "well that's not so bad." However, when you see the price tag for a night's stay? That little stuff becomes a much bigger deal. We paid a little over $250 per night. The price tag was WAY too high for what they offer, in my personal opinion. With all that being said, I still heavily recommend this inn. We were told that the place is getting new owners soon, so hopefully they address the issues and maybe lower the price. We will definitely be back.

When we got there Henry and Clare, who own this beautiful Bed and Breakfast, made us feel welcomed immediately. The grounds and the B & B are breathtaking. We stayed in the Lord Tenneyson Room. The lake nearby is Lake Glenviille which is incredible. They had a champayne cruise on the the lake and the next day evening drinks. They also served a full breakfast daily in the room. Clare and Henry gave us a map of hiking trails. They recommended Rainbow Falls and Whitewater Falls. Great hikes and even better scenery. This facility is well worth the 4 stars. Their service is just as good as any 5 star resort. It is romantic and well worth the trip.

He had never stayed in a place that did that for guests. It was always delicious and got us ready for a day of exploration. We went to the hospitality hour almost every day. Claire and my husband talked about craft beers and she was such a sweetheart to remember what kind of beers he enjoyed and had them at the next days hospitality hour. We took all of Claire and Henry's recommendations on things to do and good places to eat. Which included; the Champagne Cruise (lots of fun, Claire brought those delicious crackers she makes) different waterfalls to go see, and going to see the Biltmore in Asheville. Every place we've rented has been nice but never great enough to get us to come back for a repeat visit. Those days of bouncing around are over! Now that we've experience the Chestnut Street Inn and Emilie & Arturo's hospitality, we will never stay anywhere else. The Inn is perfectly located, just a short walk and even shorter drive/uber to downtown. The room we stayed in was adorable and super comfy. We loved the furnishings, soft sheets and towels on the bed, etc. But, the in-room gas fireplace was by far my favorite amenity -- I found myself not even wanting to venture out but rather sit in the room warming my feet by the fire. (Don't worry though, we went out!) Throughout our stay, it was fun to discover all the hidden treats in the common areas. There were homemade cookies and chocolate in every nook and cranny of the place! Breakfast was amazing and prepared fresh each morning. Lots of helpful info way of pamphlets and brochures are all over the Inn but if you need any advice, I'd encourage you to just chat with Emilie. She had lots of great suggestions on where to go and what to do and seemed to genuinely love the area. We're looking forward to our next visit!
