This place will sneak in non-covered services to vulnerable patients that have Medical Assistance…read more My Autistic 24yr old son came in for an extraction and signed what he thought was consent for the extraction. Apparently it was a treatment plan they had put together that included services that weren't covered and none of this was verbalized to him. Normally I would've been right with him however that day I was sick and I stayed in the car so I wouldn't be around everyone in the office. It is my understanding that providers work within the perimeters of the patients insurance and an extraction is a covered service. For them to add non-covered services and not verbalize them to a vulnerable patient is wrong-plain and simple, just to hand him a clipboard while he's in the chair and have him sign with no explanation is shady business. When I called the insurance they looked at what the practice submitted and everything was covered so there shouldn't have been any copays. The woman at the office who handles billing kept trying to shut me down and gaslighted me saying over and over that "He signed the treatment plan..." and there's "Nothing that can be done..." Patients Beware!!!

Scheduling an original consultation was simple. Dr. Tran spoke to us and obtained our backgrounds. She evaluated us using the most modern dental techniques. Afterward, we scheduled appointments for cleaning. The office is very clean and modern. The Staff is extremely friendly. The Hygienist was patient and gentle. I had a procedure today; Dr. Tran spoke through what she was doing and made me feel comfortable and calm. She is a wonderful person and, in my opinion, a great Dentist. The hygienist (a woman that is a weathered ol dog that you can tell does not want to be doing teeth anymore) used a very exasperated tone of annoyance that she was going to have to do extra work on my teeth due to my lack of dental care and she was going to charge me extra for a deep clean. I said "why are you going to do that? I get my teeth cleaned every 6 mos." She didn't apologize, just said oh and asked if I had moved and then she moved on. The reason for my bad review is that I have asked for my $60 to be refunded 5 times in the past 1.5 years. I didn't even realize they had my money until my first visit back and they were talking about that deep clean as if that $60 would cover that!! They charged me too much to put my bottom retainer back on and they have held onto my money for what must be 5 years now at minimum. I've asked fora refund in person 3 times. I've asked by phone twice. They will NOT relinquish my money. They tell me they have submitted it to corporate. Who is corporate? Can I contact them myself? They will tell me nothing. So now I'm going escalating.

As time passed I noticed no new awards were added. That's pretty consistent with how my treatment went. Cleanings are pretty bare bones and done quickly. I was typically in and out in 20 minutes. Some times I would see the doctor, other times they were not available. There are two big downsides to this office. Communication and organization During cleanings, I would never be told of any problem areas or concerns. If I spoke up I might get a little information, but it was like pulling teeth (couldn't resist). I can't fix things if I think everything is OK. Having a more open dialogue between patient and hygienist would be super beneficial in my opinion. As far as organization, at one point I was told I was like a year and a half late for x-rays. I don't keep track of such things, but was surprised it took so long for them to notice how far out of date my x-rays were. The only reason they even noticed was because their records were audited. I decided to move to True Dental in Odenton, which is much more thorough with other tools and technology. My first cleaning took almost an hour but my teeth have never felt cleaner. There were digital pictures shown to demonstrate exactly what they were seeing, points of concern, and many back and forth conversations throughout that were very helpful.

My husband had a last minute tooth emergency which had him in agonizing pain. I was made phone calls to a dozen local dentists and was desperate for anyone that could help. McCarl dental took him in within an hour, stayed open a bit late for us and provided amazing care when we had never been a patient before. Him and I are now both patients and would highly recommend McCarl Dental group. They also partner with local oral surgeons that they referred us to that were just as amazing.
