They are not cheap, the fee we pay now is 300 dollars an hour, but we have experience with cheap lawyers and paying the extra fee is worth it, they work fast, are extremely friendly, keep you well informed, they know a lot of the judges and can get your paperwork in a way that works for you. I would specially recommend Scot to any military families even for a civilian case, because he is also licensed in military law he has a better understanding of there proceedings. and got our temporary custody order written in a way that we can move out of state without it effecting our case.

A MONTH! went by during which I called his office a dozen times and left 5-6 messages with his assistant, notating extreme urgency with one. I NEVER! received a call back, or the promised proposal. As far as I knew he took my money and forgot about me. Even my wife's attorney contacted him multiple times with no response until he finally replied only to LIE! and say that I was in review of the proposal (which I had yet to receive). That was the straw. It was not until I went to his office to fire him that I finally received the proposal from his assistant, no doubt in efforts to save face, which was not even accurate because I'm sure she filled in the blanks on a template based on his shotty notes. He understood my disappointment in his services, or "lost confidence in his representation" as he put it, because he knew he dropped the ball, and agreed to a refund of the retainer fee. After he did absolutely nothing for me but waste over a month of my time, he kept half of it!! That's right! $750 for absolutely nothing! In his typical pompous lawyer-like way framed it as compensation because I left his office with the PAPER proposal, that was better used as toilet paper, which I had only received because I finally went to his office to fire him! As the primary caregiver or our children with a father out of state, visitation was challenging especially due to the unrealistic nature of the father. Close to the end we had an agreement that I was satisfied with and allowed me essential visitation time with their father as well as time to vacation with them and prepare them for school. (3 weeks before school start date.) I find out after final hearing and final report received that it was completely changed and nothing we had agreed upon was in print. When approached with the issue, I was told "I believe your case is closed and I'm not longer the GAL." I have not received a response or anything to date regarding the discrepancy. Told I have outstanding balance but only given and amount, never a bill. I feel this was extremely sloppy work especially when 2 childrens well being were involved. I feel that we had a very daunting case which resulted in final decisions being rushed to close as soon as he could, even with mounding evidence against my ex. As a Guardian ad litem I expected that my kids were priority over all. The situation with my divorce made it clear that there was instability on the other end and can only pray that the insignificance of my children's well being does not affect them in the future.
