I'm back in Rosarito and environs after a 6+ year absence and visited Betty's for the first time…read morewith my cousin on September 27, 2023. You may wonder why I would visit an American-themed restaurant in Mexico. Since I was here last, Rosarito has embraced a more eclectic approach to restaurants, so why not? Besides, my cousin--who lives in Rosarito--said Betty's was a must, so there you go. It usually takes me only one visit--one bite, actually--to sum up a place and their cuisine. That may sound snobbish; well, yes, it is. Those who have followed me on Yelp over the past years know my credentials, so suffice it to say that I know food in and out and love everything from the most humble street food to haute cuisine. But before I took a bite of the food, what set this place in my stellar region were the owner and chef: Dante (front of the house) and his wife Stephanie (chef--and yes, I use the term chef as she's no mere burger-flipper). Dante went to great pains to explain how they source their ingredients and that many of them are made in-house--getting rarer every day, unfortunately. The exterior and interior would win no House Beautiful contest, but with food like this, who cares? My cousin and I got the Deli Burger with pastrami that actually would stand on its own. The beef was cooked spot-on with the accompanying ingredients bringing it together into a perfect whole. We got fries and onion rings; both were way above average and with a knock-your-socks-off horseradish sauce to dunk them in, I couldn't have been happier. But what truly sets Betty's apart is they sincerely care about their food and their customers. Let me repeat that--THEY CARE! Many restaurants have lost that but not here. So, if you come to Rosarito and don't stop by Betty's, your trip just won't be complete. And you don't have to take just my word for it--from the multitude of five-star reviews, it's obvious many, many others feel the same way.

I literally just walked out so happy I had to Yelp before the food coma hit! Window sign says it…read moreall: Fresh ground beef, fresh baked buns, fresh cut fries cooked in beef tallow, house made sauces, and no seed oils. If you're going to burger and fry it, this is the way! Price is a little up there, but your taste buds will understand why. The beef tallow fries were sooooo good. Crispy edges, fluffy center, ACTUAL potato. The garlic fries had bold fresh garlic and are cooked in avocado oil, but leaned a little soggy. Shockingly, I preferred the classic tallow fries. Husband and I split two doubles. The Garlic Mushroom Burger was juicy, savory, and loaded with mushrooms, pickles, American cheese, and garlic spread. The Flamin Smash had jalapeño, pickles, American cheese, and chipotle spread. Big flavor, gentle kick, & hella satisfying. Washed it all down with the Cucumber Lemonade that's sweetened with agave syrup. Not too sweet! I didn't catch the cashier's name, but he was super friendly and helpful. Cozy, clean spot with a patio on the side for extra seating. Service was crazy fast. This place is a bit far from me and I am already planning the drive back! That's how you know it smash-ed!

If the crispy lacy edges are your favorite part of a smash burger - stop what you're doing and come…read morehere immediately. Lacy edges for dayyysssss! I ordered the Flamin' Smash and it definitely delivered on the smash. The "flamin'" part may have been a slight oversell since I didn't get much heat, but it was definitely fresh, delicious, and clearly made with high quality ingredients. The brioche bun was buttery, soft, and somehow still sturdy enough to survive the whole burger experience without disintegrating halfway through - maybe because they're baked fresh daily. All of the toppings were perfectly balanced supporting cast members contributing to a great overall experience. The jalapeños were freshly sliced in house and the pickles were crisp (not soggy or over-brined), lending a really nice freshness to the burger. The chipotle spread added a subtle smoky flavor, and the cheese was smooth and melty - both basically melding right into the burger without overpowering the star of the show.... The meat, which is high quality locally sourced and freshly ground, had a VERY crispy smash-style crust with just enough juice left in the center to keep it satisfying. For my own personal preference, it was bordering on leaning slightly too far into the smash style. I would have liked just a little more "burger-y-ness" in the middle. But honestly, I think that's more of a style preference than an actual criticism because for what it is, this is an excellent specimen of the genre and I genuinely enjoyed it. As for value and vibe, this place has the whole low-key viral local hole-in-the-wall energy down perfectly. It's basically a tiny little room with a walk-up order counter and a narrow wall bar with stools for waiting and/or eating. Functional, food-first, no-frills setup. Probably not your super bougie sit-and-chat-for-two-hours dinner spot, but honestly I'm perfectly happy trading fancy decor for this level of quality - especially at the prices. We're talking fast food-adjacent pricing for fresh ingredients, locally sourced beef, house-prepped toppings, and burgers that are clearly made with care. Overall this is a really great find for a food-first experience, especially if crispy smash-style burgers are your jam. I definitely want to come back with a friend so I can try their tallow fries (the loaded fries they were putting out looked FIRE), and I also have my eye on the Mushroom Garlic burger next time.

We ordered the classic burger with avocado and jalapeños and the mushroom Swiss with avocado, both cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The ingredients taste fresh, the buns are soft and toasted just right, and everything comes together exactly how a great burger should. Even the fries are excellent--crispy and seasoned well. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the whole place has a great atmosphere. It's clean, open, and comfortable with a cool modern vibe that makes it a great place to sit down and enjoy a meal. Every visit has been solid. If you're a burger fan, this place is a must.

We came with friends from church after service on Mother's Day. One family suggested this place and it seemed interesting from the Yelp! Reviews. It was early evening and the rush hasn't started. I got the Chorizo Diablo and my wife got their mushroom cheese burger along with fries and onion rings. They offer stubborn soda line so had the root beer. My burger was messy but delicious and my wife thought that her burger was a bit bland. I never consider mushroom burgers an option, always the beef for me! Fries and onion rings were tasty. Next time I'll try their fig jam sliders, this sounds interesting. There's plenty of seating both inside and out. And it's dog-friendly...we might bring our corgi the next time we come. Yes, we'll return to try their other offerings.
