Some businesses provide services. Some businesses sell goods. And some business, like…read moreAfford-a-Brew, do a little bit of both. I noticed Afford-a-Brew a number of times on my way to work. It is located in a small building on US 41 near Land O'Lakes. I thought it was cool that Central Pasco had their own independent home brewing store but I figured it wouldn't be a place I would visit because I'm not a beer drinker. I am, however, a kombucha drinker. And when I decided to keg and force carbonate my own "buch", Afford-a-Brew became just the type of place I needed. As I was working through the process of kegging, I ran into some issues. I Googled what went wrong and thought I needed some pieces so I paid a visit to Afford-a-Brew. I explained my situation and setup to the employee and he said that it sounded like I really didn't need any pieces. He thought I had everything I needed already at home. He talked me through the issue I was having and I left the shop without buying anything. I appreciated that Afford-a-Brew could've sold me a lot of stuff I didn't need but they didn't. So when my CO2 tank leaked out and I really did need some components, I didn't hesitate to head back to Afford-a-Brew. This time I walked out with a full CO2 tank and some keg gel in case I had another leaking issue. I also, again, was provided guidance about what to look for to find the leak. Even more than the CO2 tank, gel and advice was the encouragement the man working the counter offered me. He could sense my frustration and he told me "Don't worry about it. It happens to everyone. Even big time beer places with people who know what they are doing lose carbonation some times." So, while Afford-a-Brew is definitely a great place to visit for all the home brewing accessories that someone might need, it is the information and encouragement they provided that really made this business a five star one.
