To start, I would never use John again if buying a house. I also would not recommend him to anyone…read more What gets John 1 star which is really a higher rating than how I feel? He seems very knowledgeable about houses and what to look for. That may be just him BS'ing his way through the process, but I did feel confident in this. If you go through John, be prepared to just get a list of houses that you could pull yourself by plugging in your criteria to any real estate search engine. There is absolutely nothing done to review those on the list and compile a short list based on discussions and previous viewings. The house I ended up purchasing wasn't even in his list of options, I found it by searching on my own. Towards the end of the process in purchasing the home I did, I really started questioning some of the things I had been told. Not because I had cold feet, but because very little was happening the way it was presented. I realize there are a lot of parties involved and things can change up, but "in full disclosure" became a common phrase towards the end to explain why things suddenly changed. I am now communicating with the seller's agent to resolve a few final things. In my correspondence with the seller's agent, I am finding out that things I had communicated to John may not have been communicated to the seller's agent (at least according to the seller's agent) and things may have been presented differently to each of us leaving unrealistic expectations on both sides. Along with the communication, after receiving an email from John and replying multiple times, and telling him through text message that I had replied multiple times, he told me my emails were going to his spam folder. The process to buy the house took 8 months, plus a couple of months prior to that in searching for a house and suddenly my emails to him are going to spam? Seems odd to me that once the sale was complete, John's email suddenly started routing my emails to spam. Feels more like once the sale is done, he is done. I had multiple calls and emails from John complaining about how much money he may end up making on the deal. I understand that he is in the business to make an income, but repeatedly communicating this to your customer for whatever reason makes that seem like the prime objective, not creating a positive relationship and finding the right fit for the customer. There are many things that would keep me from using John or recommending him again. Above are just a few. Although I ended up with the house I wanted and I am happy with the purchase, the same could have been accomplished with any Realtor and there probably would have been a lot less frustration on all sides.

John was my buying agent this past spring and I thought he did a fine job. I read the previous…read morereview about John setting up a simple search that basically anyone could do. I agree with that to an extent; however, I know John's professional search tools allow for a more detailed search on homes that may or may not be accessible to the public via other websites like Trulia, Realtor, or Zillow. For example, homes that hadn't technically "made it to market" yet were returned in John's search and they were nowhere to be found on public websites. My wife and I ended up going with a home that we did end up finding on our own. It appears on John's search, too, but we had actually found it on our own before looking at his daily search results. I must say John was extremely friendly and professional throughout the entire process. He never left one of my questions go unanswered - and I asked some really dumb questions. I feel like we made him work pretty hard, asks hundreds of questions, and contacted him via phone, email, and text almost daily. He never seemed frustrated with us, which was surprising to me. I couldn't handle being bothered that much. When we finally found a home we loved, we made an offer. John helped us determine a reasonable offer amount for the house and he truly "went to battle" for us. This put our minds at ease. Only a few times did we feel rushed throughout the process, and that's only because we had deadlines due to our own heavy work and travel schedules. None of that was John's doing. There were times when I would call John late at night - after 9:00 PM - and he'd answer and be willing to talk as long as needed. If he didn't answer, I'd leave a message and he'd call me back within a few hours (always the same day). We shopped around for mortgage rates ourselves and, sure enough, John's recommendation had given us the lowest rate we could find. The only reason I'm taking 1 star off of my review is because we ended up using John's recommendation for a home inspector (Kyle Minear from Smithville, MO) and I think we got ripped off. Our total inspection was over $400.00 and I didn't think he was very professional. We were told to show up at the house for the inspection around 4:00 PM. When we showed up, it was clear that he and John had already been at the house for a while beforehand doing the inspection. I had expected to be there the entire time and walk around with Kyle. That made me pretty mad. Overall, the inspection report was professional, included photos, descriptions, recommendations, etc. but I would not use Kyle again to inspect my home. Afterwards, any question via email would be returned with a very limited, one-word response. I got the feeling he no longer had the time for us, after paying him $400.00 I think that is a bunch of bull crap. Back to John, though. His service was timely, professional, and educational. We worked with 2 other realtors before him and always felt pressured and under-powered when talking to them. John never made us feel that way. I would definitely call John again when we're ready to buy/sell a house in the future.
