One of the highlights of the park is the nature inspired 10,800 square foot playground. The new playground was designed by LandscapeDE who was hired by Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces with the goal of creating a space that would encourage residents and their children to spend more time outside, be active, and de-stress. LandscapeDE creates very distinctive and creative outdoor play spaces for children. If you ever saw one you would know it instantly. They also created the amazing ADA accessible playground in Pinecrest Gardens with the anole lizard ramp and play structure and a brand new playground for Pioneer Park in Port St. Lucie. For Biscayne Shores & Gardens Park they built on a five foot earth mound and added an explorer dome, boulder climbers, an embankment slide, swings, bee and forest bug spring riders, a forest lake boat, and an embankment slide. Royal palms, gumbo limbo trees, live oaks, milkweeds, Fakahatchee grass, pineland crotons, yellowtops, porterweeds, gamagrass, giant ironweeds, and Boston ferns were planted to accent the area. The large trees give the playground the feel of being in a forest as they provide shade and connect the playground to nature. The playground was one of the first in Miami Dade County to incorporate nature based play elements. Biscayne Shore and Gardens Park also has a new 3,013 square foot recreation center that offers arts and crafts, after school programs, and camps. The recreations center includes a park office, restrooms, and storage space, a 20-vehicle lighted parking lot, walkway lighting, sidewalks, and landscaping. Additional amenities include picnic shelters, benches, and an exercise path that winds among the park's landscaping enhancing its natural beauty, with palm trees and colorful flowers adding to the vibrant and inviting environment. Biscayne Shores and Gardens Park is a charming and versatile space that caters to a wide range of interests and activities. This is a great working-class park, however, it's easily distressed by these annoying, useless government agents. Again, as soon as sunset hits, expect your local uniformed-thugs to send you packing home, because, yup, you guessed, it's "too dark" and those are the "rules".

We usually stop by when we're walking to or from Surfside. We visited midday on a Saturday when I took these photos and there was only one other family there, so it was a very pleasant experience. The shade under the trees gives you a breezy and cool feel on a hot summer day. The equipment at this park is a bit outdated and needs an upgrade, in my opinion. Our son loves the basketball courts and they also have a very large soccer field (grassy area) to play on. The Surfside community has many events here for residents only, which we are unable to attend since we live across the bridge. :-P

This North Miami neighborhood was mainly built between 1940-1967, and homes were designed in various architectural styles including Art Deco and Modern. This neighborhood is on Biscayne Bay. Amenities at Keystone Park include basketball courts, a multi use field, a tiki hut, and a shade covered playground with synthetic turf. The playground is named for Joseph "Joe" Weil, a resident and city activist. The pickle ball courts are a popular feature of this park. The sport, which is a cross between table tennis, badminton, and tennis, was invented by three vacationers on Bainbridge Island, near Seattle, in 1965. There are now 36.5 million pickleball players in the U.S and it was named the fastest growing sport in the U.S. in 2024. The courts are available on a first come, first serve basis and you can check out balls and paddles from the community center. Parking is a little scarce around the park but Flanigans has overflow parking across the street and noticed some people using that. Based on the number of people here, Keystone park is a popular North Miami recreational resource.

You still have to pay for parking. I recommend the parking lot next door. The Pirate Park Playground was built by Superior Playgrounds who was tasked with designing a one-of-a-kind pirate theme play space to spark creative play and provide a safe place for budding buccaneers to play. The playground is made of recycled material like milk jugs and was created to be corrosion resistant so that it would always look good in this salt water coastal ecosystem. Located only 100 feet from the beach, the playground is fenced in for safety. There is a large pirate ship for older children to climb on and slide down and a smaller area for younger privateers. The crows nest with rigging looked especially fun to climb. Other playground play structures include clownfish and blue tang fish spring riders, a custom octopus playhouse, and palm tree shade. There are four triangle sail shades and poured-in-place safety surfacing to protect little knees and bottoms. Bathrooms are nearby. During my visit the playground was filled with kids and their families enjoying the nautical theme. This unique play space fosters imagination and physical movement for the youngest North Beach residents and visitors.

Crespi Park amenities include a large multi-purpose field with a shade pavilion, paved fitness path, picnic tables, outdoor fitness equipment for strength and stretching, and a basketball court with lighting. In March of 2015, the park received a new playground through a partnership between the City of Miami Beach Parks and Recreation, KaBOOM!, the Irie Foundation, and Jet Blue. Children from the neighborhood collaborated on the playground design and 250 local volunteers built it in one day. The playground has climbing equipment, slides, and spring riders. Visitors to this well maintained neighborhood park can enjoy activities such as basketball, jogging, workouts, and play. The park says no dogs allowed but I did see a few well behaved pups also enjoying outdoor recreation. I also saw someone practicing operating their drone. Neatly trimmed trees and plants and shade and beauty to the park. Parks like this one provide welcome recreational resources to the communities they are placed in.
