Luanne is a gem in our community for breastfeeding mothers like me! As a first-time mom, I really needed a boost of confidence that I was nourishing my baby properly after returning home from the hospital. Luanne came to my house on very short notice and spent a considerable amount of time showing me how to position myself and my baby so that he had a good latch, while maintaining good back and neck support. Her pointers made all the difference, and I found her combination of expertise and patience to be superior to the specialists at the hospital. Not surprisingly, she's an RN with decades of NICU experience. Beyond the fundamentals, she helped me with considerable engorgement pain, showing me tricks to relieve the pressure, which in turn ensures a better latch for the baby. She also weighed my baby before and after a feeding to show me that he was getting enough nourishment despite my fears of milk insufficiency. I was also able to rent a high quality hospital grade pump for home and buy a portable pump to take to work, both directly through Luanne who made billing my insurance easy. The many odds and ends that come in a pumping kit is daunting at first, but she showed me how to put the parts together, proper care and hygiene for the parts, and how to get the machine working. Luanne goes above and beyond because she understands the health and happiness of your baby is interconnected to that of the mother. Her wisdom for soothing fussy and gassy babies with time-tested techniques is matched by her invaluable suggestions for my own nutrition to compliment my child's health. Trust and confidence are crucial during this life stage, and Luanne earns both in spades and helps develop them in you, lending her knowledge and patience to give me a newfound independence in this whole experience of motherhood. I would highly recommend Luanne to anyone looking for a lactation consultant who offers so much more -- I couldn't imagine going through these trying days without her. Caring and supportive, she is seemingly always available to call and text. Her presence during my postpartum challenges and beyond has made all the difference. Thank you Luanne, you are the best!

The lactation consultants at the hospital weren't able to help, until the very last one referred me to the amazing Amanda. She came to my home, took one look at what was going on, and immediately got colostrum out of me (something I had been trying so hard to do on my own). She stayed with me, taught me what to do for the engorgement, and showed me exactly how to start pumping the right way. I went from getting just a few drops a day to now pumping up to 8 ounces every 3 hours. Because of her, I have a freezer stash, I feel confident, and I'm even starting to breastfeed (something I truly thought wouldn't be possible). I'm so incredibly thankful for her. She has been such an important part of my motherhood journey, and I don't know where I'd be without her. Loveeeee her. Here's a pic of my cutie & Amanda

When we first started working together, I was overwhelmed and barely pumping an ounce in 20 minutes. I didn't even realize I was using the wrong flange size. Amanda quickly identified the issue, got me fitted properly, and helped me come up with a realistic plan to manage triple feeding without feeling completely defeated. With the right setup, her hands-on support, and a lot of hard work, my supply increased and my baby is now feeding efficiently. She's knowledgeable, encouraging, and truly invested in her clients. If you're looking for in-person, hands-on lactation support, Amanda is amazing.

I emailed Lisa regarding her availability and pre-checked with The Lactation Network, the company she contracts with, to make sure everything was good to go with my insurance. I heard back within 24 hours from both TLN and Lisa; we were able to set up a home visit appointment within the week. Lisa was extremely friendly and professional during our sessions. She helped measure me for new pump flanges, made suggestions for positioning comfort, and observed my son feeding to make a diagnosis regarding potential latch issues. She offered a number of oral exercises to help my son's latch and provided an EXTREMELY THOROUGH folder with pictures and descriptions of the exercises so I was not relying solely on memory. The folder also had a ton of other useful info from breastfeeding tips and tricks to local professionals, including pediatric dentists and OTs. Lisa also provided a comprehensive write up for my son's pediatrician with her observations and recommendations. Like the folder she provided, it was extremely thorough and detailed. Her professionalism and attention to detail is next level and she is incredibly nice and easy to talk to. I never felt judged or unheard. We scheduled a follow-up in-home appointment which was just as helpful as the first session. A few weeks later Lisa, followed up by email to check-in to make sure my son and I were doing well. She cares about her patients and I know that I can reach out if we run into any other issues. If you are struggling with breastfeeding or latch trouble contact Lisa! She's wonderful!

I had already seen two other lactation consultants -- one in the hospital and another at my pediatrician's office -- but I just couldn't replicate their techniques at home. Although I was not feeding him, my milk came in after three days of pumping. After the 2 week appointment, the doctor said he was growing well and that I could start solely breastfeeding. Although I tried over and over, I kept having my baby fall asleep mid-feed. He would wake up again within an hour because he was hungry. Additionally, I started feeling a pinching pain on the side of my body as I fed him. Trying to address the abnormal situation, we found the Lactation Consultant contact information in our Hospital packet and called the nearest one to us. Alicia responded right away and was very helpful from the beginning. On her first visit, Alicia quickly showed her expertise and professionalism - and we were happy that she adhered to strict COVID-19 protocols while in our home. She also stressed the importance of getting my husband involved to support me and the baby through the process. She helped us understand whether our baby was eating or not, and also gave us some techniques to get the baby to get a full feed (lots of skin to skin contact). Additionally, she did identify both a tongue and lip tie on our boy, and sent us to a wonderful pediatric dentist in the South Bay. A day after leaving, she continued to follow up and stayed invested in making sure that we made progress. The next day, although it was rough, she and I were texting as I tried to feed the baby - and eventually ended up Facetiming so that we could get direct support. Although I was stressed, her availability and willingness to continue helping was so reassuring! A week later, after addressing the tongue tie, we scheduled a follow-up appointment with her so that she could assess the baby's feeding now that he had a "new" tongue. And this appointment was even more helpful! Honestly, Alicia helped turn my breastfeeding journey around and I am so grateful that we were able to work with her. It has now been 3 months since she helped us, and I am currently solely breastfeeding. I love every second of it and I don't take it for granted when I look at my little babies face each feed.
