Recently attended a wedding at this location formerly Temple Beth-El on Woodward with stunning Greek columns on the exterior and vintage mahogany inlaid wood work and painted murals throughout the ceiling.
This is an original Albert Kahn building who was also a parishioner. It is great to see the building in the middle of being restore which shows the True Grit and staying power of detroiters.
You can tell they're in the midst of paying it back to the community by making it a community center with public programs to help the local neighborhood.
The pastor was also on site. He was extremely engaging and explained it is a
multi-denominational Parrish so Come As You Are. Which is great in this diverse city of hours
I also believe this building is on a historic bus tour with other Detroit Albert Kahn buildings and churches.
With any luck this building will be restored to its original Glory and benefit the local community.
Definitely worth a look. read more
