RUN. RUN AWAY NOW. I set up a viewing with them 5 days in advance for Friday at 2:30pm. I showed up at 2:20. I waited and waited, 2:45 rolled around, so I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and messaged, "Are you coming." Crickets. I get in my car at 2:50, and as I'm leaving, I get the response, "no. the other appointments cancelled." I drove an HOUR away, waited 30 minutes, and the response I got instead of an apology for being EXTREMELY inconsiderate of others was what I would expect from a 13-year-old. I CANNOT imagine what hell renting would be like from these people if they are already showing their true colors this early into the process. read more

I wish I could leave zero stars. I just received my deposit refund. I paid $3200 and received back $1045. The details of the deductions are ludicrous. As an example, he charged me $138 to repair holes in the walls. I lived there one year and never even put a nail in the wall. I literally didn't even hang up a picture. I also got hit for "excessive hair". I'm 5'11" and my hair is extremely thick and long (I have to pick it up when I sit down). I'm a Disabled Marine Veteran so I was going to pay somebody to clean the house. When I told him that, he said he had somebody. He also said he'd contact me with the price. I never received a quote. I went DAYS with NO plumbing because he ignored my repeated calls and texts. I literally had to go to the YMCA to shower and to a restaurant to use their bathroom. He then accused me of using too much toilet paper. Turns out the pipes to the street were damaged. And speaking of the bathrooms, they had painted over MOLD in the bathrooms. I even found a knife in the kitchen UNDER paint in the cabinet. I specifically asked him if I could leave the kitchen hardware that I had replaced. I had bought expensive knobs for the drawers and cabinets. When I moved out the house I bought had handles on the kitchen drawers and cabinets so I asked if I could just leave those for him since they were much nicer than what had been there. He said yes. He then charged me $154.36 to replace the kitchen hardware, claiming I had replaced them with "random ones". He entered the house several times without me being there and not notifying me first. I moved out almost 2 months early. Every time I went by the house, the a/c was turned all the way up and set to "fan" (not auto) and all the lights were on in the house. I'd turn it down and turn the lights off. When I went to the house later it would be full blast and all lights on again. He charged me $150 for water used AFTER I had moved out. I never used that much water while I was living there! I also had several items damaged due to MOLD in one of the rooms that I didn't know was there until it was too late. I was sick almost the entire time I was there, even spending 4 days in the hospital because I couldn't stop vomiting. After I found the mold, I wonder if that's what made me sick. read more

Watch out folks for this company "Breakaway Properties" We recently were interested in two of these properties. We first became suspicious when the person only used a text-email! Why? the number used can not be traced at all! The "So called" agent requested to see the property alone. The door was unlocked! Scary. I did some research to find that the first property was not for rent. The agent asked to send money to apple or Venmo. Never once this person sounded like she/he was credible. Bottom line the message was sent as if they were a prominent Realtor in Anderson, but not only talked to one agent using the name, but another also has the name. Neither one knew anything about the property! I had the person to call me direct, when done, it was a man using broken English. Furthermore, he did not know what property he had. He later sent addresses in California and Chicago. There are many scammers out there who are taking advantage of unsuspecting individuals. You can't trust know one. Very long day getting to Sanibel after terrible storms and multiple flight delays. Arrived at the Egret Cottage very late at 11 pm. It is dark and the parking lot is flooded. There is not good outside lighting. I received a text from this company, Breakaway, earlier in the day that there was an alligator spotted swimming around on the property. Someone else who is staying here is parked in my parking spot. Right beside my cottage. The only dry spot on this property. I called the after hours number to get assistance. I was even worried there might be someone else staying in this cottage. I spoke with Kim. She was uninterested in our situation and spoke very rude to me. She told me this was not an emergency and it could wait until morning, and ask me to park my car out on the road. This is unacceptable. This is the first time I have rented from Breakaway Properties and my first impression. It is not good. read more

Poor guy is the so called owner on here saying they showed him 2 homes on the same day and he is the one taking peoples money karma is real I wouldn't rent anything from someone that never says there first and last name and the address is a p.o box only. He is my landlord not for much longer and he has never told his last name or the address of his so called company. What are you hiding from smh. The place I rent is horrible. I use pliers to turn water on for my bathtub and kitchen sink steady leaks I've told him multiple times. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!! read more

one star doesn't give this "company" any justice being that the guy is worth zero stars. I made the mistake of renting from Mark even after feeling sketchy about no real information on "Breakaway Properties". Theres's no main house office for this "company", just a man with a cellphone. I needed a place asap so i was a bit desperate, definitely my fault. upon viewing the 1bd/1ba house, the walls were noticeably stained yellow and looks as if the place hasn't been swept in months. The little front porch steps were practically falling apart. I was only there for at least a year and my plumbing was mysteriously sabotaged twice (no proof, but I feel as if Mark had sabotaged the plumbing by clogging the plumbing exhaust located just right in front of the home. I refused to pay the outrageous maintenance fees, so he immediately filed paperwork for an eviction. I left a very nice couch and some kitchenware behind thinking the next tenant could use them. Much to my surprised, I receive an unofficial bill from him with a list of charges such as repainting fee (for the already yellow stained walls), trash fee for the perfect condition couch and kitchenware and the naturally fallen tree in the backyard. If you're thinking about renting from "Breakaway Properties" aka, Mark, I strongly suggest that you refrain from doing so. I assure you that it's going to be a headache. Also, just a heads up the Mark I'm referring to is the same Mark that you'll see as the first review for this "company". Major red flags to for as well, the address for Breakaway Properties is a PO Box. He doesn't disclosed his full name, just Mark. My rent payments were made strictly through Zelle or a deposit at a Truist bank right to his account. Karma is definitely real. read more
