They have done an outstanding job. My personal favorite however is the yoga. We have been provided with yoga instructors that are experienced and knowledgeable in leading classes in which most of the participants are older and not as nimble as they once were. They help us with modifications and are very aware of each student's special needs, offering input and information to help make it a better practice, but always challenging us. Each person is comfortably able to go at his or her own pace. The instructors seem to love the class as much as we do. Since starting yoga there 9 months ago, I rarely miss a class because it has helped me so much to be more functional. I am stronger and my balance is improved. I feel more fit than before even though I was a dedicated exerciser before I started. The class has gained a following and is growing larger all the time because it is truly a great experience. My most recent class was with the owner, Trevor, who was teaching for one of his instructors and I was surprised that an owner of such a facility was also an accredited yoga teacher. Once again, it was a great class in step with his other instructors. There are always scheduling issues with any class, but one can be assured that if you have a substitute while doing classes with Innovative, it will be a really good class. I don't want to overuse adjectives here, but I love these classes, they are truly wonderful experiences and make me feel so much better. You know that your student is in a loving environment that wants to see them succeed, learn with confidence, and use gifts and talents to glorify the Lord. It's so wonderful to see a studio that picks age appropriate music, costumes, and dances. Sending my girls to SSD was the best decision and I can't wait to see them continue to grow as dancers there.

My major concern is the way teaching dancing isn't their primary focus. The owner/manager kicked off the recent Christmas recital by telling everyone that the school's primary goal is to spread Christianity, and teaching dance is only a secondary concern. That focus has been evident in the way they take time out of every dance lesson for prayer, and they spend entire lessons doing things other than teaching (e.g., the gift exchange, or the time when they tried to force the parents to learn to dance instead of the kids). The Christmas recital performance was unimpressive across all the age groups, so it certainly seems like teaching dance is secondary. Additionally, I have some minor issues. They have some classes in the "annex" at the church, but the hallway is not air conditioned so it got uncomfortably hot in the summer, and the only bathrooms are inside the dance rooms so you have to interrupt the dancers to use the restroom. Also, communications were lacking. They have an app, they send emails, and they post things to the notice board...but most things only are in one of those locations, so you have to check all three to find out when/where something is happening. If something is mentioned in more than one place, the info does not always agree, so sometimes you have to just call the office and ask when or where the recital is or what your dancer needs to wear. I found out that my child was supposed to get measured for a costume because someone I didn't know had a table in the hallway and was doing measurements of kids, so we stopped and asked what they were doing...no one informed me (to my knowledge) about the costumes or measurements, and if we had missed that day we would not have known until it was too late.
