Amazing selection and staff. If you are looking for a hard to find bourbon or that special bottle…read moreof wine you will not be disappointed!

I've been hesitant to write this review for about a year, but three consecutive 1* experiences in…read morethe span of the last ~month are the tipping point. I've been a regular customer for the past 6 years and have been treated very well by a number of employees on numerous occasions, but will no longer be visiting based on poor customer experience and their more recent questionable / ongoing business practices relative to their sales of highly sought after whiskey. On December 21st, 2023, Mr. Whiskers posted a drop of several highly sought after whiskeys, to be sold on a first-come/first-serve basis. I raced over to the store along with dozens of other potential customers, only to find prices that were not only above MSRP, but many also well above secondary market pricing. Here's a list of examples from this visit: - George T Stagg (Buffalo Trace Antique Collection) - $1,200 (MSRP $125) - Stagg Jr. 23B - $200 (MSRP $70) - Weller Full Proof - $500 (MSRP ~$60) - Blanton's Gold - $500 (MSRP ~$125) - Weller 12-year - $250 (MSRP ~$70) - Weller CYPB - ~$700 (MSRP $50) - E.H. Taylor Barrel Proof - $500 (MSRP ~$80) About a year ago (or maybe a little more), Mr. Whiskers started jacking up whiskey prices, and I realized they started putting a lot more items in a glass case near the registers for exorbitant prices, such as Russell's Reserve 13 @ $700 (which has an MSRP of ~$70), to offer one example. That said, I'd not made it in for a release in some time, and didn't realize the absurd heights they were reaching until the other day (see list above). We are talking 3x, 5x, 10x+ of the MSRP. So on 12/21, I held a George T. Stagg in my hand for about 5 seconds, until I realized they wanted more than $1,000 above MSRP...hard pass. There is an ongoing bourbon craze, and I'm sure they got people desperate enough in their bourbon pursuit to pay those prices. I'll be honest and say I did purchase Stagg Jr., as 3x MSRP was an amount I'm willing to pay for something I've never seen in the wild, though swore off this establishment privately as soon as I left. I'd made the race there and struggled to rationalize leaving empty-handed while simultaneously being pissed about what I'd just experienced/realized about their pricing. I also tried to go back to Instagram to warn coming patrons that they wouldn't be finding a super high-end bourbon score at a price they could likely tolerate or afford, only to find that comments were locked (because Mr. Whiskers knows they are up to some shady things, and others had probably already begun posting the same detail I intended to share). Fast-forward to December 24th, 2023 -- Mr. Whisker's again announces on Instagram, @ ~1:30pm CST, a drop of multiple Buffalo Trace Antique Collection bottles, Wellers, E.H. Taylors, etc. I saw the post and replied with a comment along the lines of "Buyer Beware, most of these bottles will be priced at 5x - 10x MSRP." Low and behold, comments were immediately locked down on their post and I was subsequently/~instantly blocked from Mr. Whisker's social media :) I can't help but laugh; they know they are engaging in some shady practices, and absolutely don't want to get called out on this stuff. Adding insult to injury for our household, on November 20th, 2023, Mr. Whisker's released a store pick Four Roses Single Barrel - Barrel Strength. My wife visited with my son to pick up one for me and one for my father. For the second time in the last year or so, she was treated in an extremely condescending manner by an employee across multiple points of interaction, as well as having the same employee yell at our son for simply touching a product. I'll reiterate that I've had many quality / courteous interactions at Mr. Whiskers over the years, but have also had more variable experiences and this was the 2nd of similar quality for her in a limited period. She left telling me, "Never ask me to go there for you again." There are similar reviews from other women relative to the way they've been treated there, so I'm not telling a new story... All told, I've spent a small fortune over the years at Mr. Whisker's, but won't be back any longer. Will keep my regular business with RED, Frugal, etc., who I have trust will treat me and my family with respect, and also not gouge the hell out of me on a go-forward basis, if/when I'm lucky enough to win a raffle of theirs for highly sought after product, or just when I enter the store at the right time in terms of a quality release.

TDLR Staff is extremely rude and condescending. Harassed and bullying potential customers…read more My partner and I were attempting to get breakfast to go from dose, the coffee shop next door. However what few spots dose had were taken, there are a few 15 minute only spots off to the side but they were all taken as well, leaving the 5-6 spots that are "reserved" for grand cru as the only available spots. (There is limited street parking around this area and what few spots were available were already taken.) We decided to take our chances and park in a grand cru spot because we would probably only be there for 10-15 minutes max, and my partner stayed in the car as I went in to order. After about 5 minutes our coffee order was ready and I walked out to the car to check on my partner while waiting for our sandwiches and I sat out there for about 1-2 minutes. While waiting I noticed that an employee of the liquor store had nothing better to do than peer out of the window watching us. As I got out of the car to walk back to the coffee shop the employee walked out of the store and asked me if he could have his spot back...... there were at least 3 other spots open for the liquor store, 0 open spots for the coffee shop, and after only being parked for about 7 minutes the employee felt the need to harass us about moving our car. Keep in mind our sandwiches were ready to pick up and we were basically on our way out. The way the employee was instigating and walking around my car trying to intimidate my partner as I went back into the the coffee shop felt really gross and predatory. After collecting our food I walked back out to the car expecting the worst to be behind us. To my dismay as I was getting back in the car the same employee walked back outside, called me cute, and then proceeded to throw up gang signs at our car as we were driving away. I would def stay away from this business if you are a woman or POC or other marginalized group. Also if you are attempting to yo to dose but can't find parking just go somewhere else.

However there is no reason to heckle someone at 10am to move their car. He yelled at me and said his business will be successful, only if I move. However, once I moved, 2 men moved out of their spots. I'm sorry this man is upset he's not selling liquor at 10am, but a great way to have more sales is to be respectful. People at West End Liquors down the street are WAY better
