We sat inside for dinner on our first visit, and came back again for lunch outside the next day. The atmosphere at the Rathaus is warm and typically Swiss, and its views of the Luzern waterfront and Kapellbrücke can't be beat. The food is excellent, from lighter fare like sandwiches on pretzels to more traditional dishes like white sausage with mustard. My brother-in-law ordered two different beers, and said they were the best he's ever had in his life. The most lasting memory for us, however, was our absolutely amazing server on our second visit. She was warm, friendly, funny, and spoke excellent English, giving us tips and recommendations for our Luzern stay. We even shared hugs on our final visit. I wouldn't buy a can of Feldschlossen here --- it'd be cheaper most other places --- but if you're looking for some heartier British drinks or the occasional imported microbrew, Drinks of the World may be your best bet. This location is much more spacious than the cramped Zürich hole in the wall, and has a better flow than the Winterthur version; probably the best-laid-out version I've been to. Until your average Coop or Kiosk starts stocking more porter, I'll be a Drinks of the World regular.

So we tried some of their Pretzels. We chose the Salami Brezel (Peperoni-Pretzel). And to our surprise it was really tasty. There was loads of butter in it...which always brings out much flavour. Not only that, it also had a fair amount of Salami inside. And: No annyoing salad or pickles....yay! The Pretzels were freshly made (baked) and tasty really good. Crispy outside and nice and soft inside. Not sure this franchise improved overall or if it's just this branch here. But something did change....to the better. A really good Brezel. Surely not the last time we grab some quick food here. They also sell plain Pretzels, other kinds of fillings/toppings, sandwiches, croissants and drinks (for fair prices), also coffee. Good stuff!
