My goto spot in Statesboro when anyone comes to visit…read more OGreat food expertly prepared, a luscious cocktail menu, desserts that are off the charts, pleasant and helpful staff, and a tremendous bonus to find out that they locally source as many items and ingredients as possible.

We promptly got sat by the lovely staff working. We sat outside, I ordered an Aperol spritz and my husband got a Bloody Mary. All of our drinks were delicious, reasonably priced. The Bloody Mary wasn't spicy (although a table next to us was complaining it was...), and the Hugo spritz was SO refreshing! They for the fresh mint from their herbs out front! Only complaint was we prefer our espresso martinis to be mostly espresso heavy, and this one was more cream heavy. We ordered the Brussels, country breakfast (subbed cheese grits instead of pancakes because we're gluten free) and got a side of fresh fruit. It was so much food. We didn't finish it all! The grits were nicely seasoned and cheesy. Brussels were super crispy and not drenched in grease or sauce. Eggs were nice and salty, potatoes were fried nicely. Everything was great. We would love to come back for lunch or dinner - especially happy hour. It wasn't too loud and we felt there was plenty of seating.

Like 300 decibels will damage your ears loud. Can't talk to people you are with loud. Essentially this guy ruins all the seating and all the shade. He has speakers blasting at the seating in the shade, and actually he also has his speakers set up blasting at the seating in the sun. If you wanna sit down for a minute, you are gonna get blasted. If you wanna talk to someone, you better go to the parking lot to be able to hear and then be in the sun and also get hit by a car. Mr. Jamtastic ruins the venue. I asked him could he turn it down, and he was like yes, and then turned it up. It's horrible. Anywhere if there is a bench or a chair or shade, music is gonna get blasted at you. Horrible. Mr Jamtastic has three speakers. Two are pointed at the outdoor seating to prevent conversation. One is pointed at the booths to prevent being able to hear a price or talk about crafts or whatever without maybe yelling a bit. Loud music blasting over about 2/3 of the booths. It's like ordering at McDonald's where corporate has them play loud music, and the employees have no control to stop it, and then it's hard to hear. Other than that, here's a bit about the farmers market: Apparently it is the only farmers market in Statesboro. It does not have a website. But it's fairly decent sized. And it exists, despite no website. I think that the way you get info about it is to contact the visitors center. It's located in the big modern barn thing behind the visitor's center. Parking there will be full, but Southern Palace right next door had a sign that you can park there, and also you can park at the other side in the dirt lot behind the office building. (Parking might change in the future, and Southern Palace does lunch specials ok the weekend, so it is an extremely good value for lunch if you wanna...) This is heavy on crafts and prepped food. There were two places with live plants. One was peppers. That's Pepper Pride. He has an insane selection of pepper plants live and in season for planting in early summer. Also sells peppers later. Then there is The Potting cart which is herb plants and a bunch of ornamentals that are basically all plants from Southeast Asia. Not great for plants. Unless you want peppers, and then Pepper Pride has it covered. Awesome for eggs and meat and pecans. There were two booths with a good selection of meat. This is great for getting meat. Also had yard eggs and duck eggs. There was one vegetable booth when I went in April. I just moved from Florida, and April is harvest for Florida because the tropical heat means winter is growing season and summer is a dud. Not sure about Georgia and it might be that there are more veg later. Lots of crafts booths with crochet or jewelry. One lady had very decorated cookies. Like where you paint on the cookie. It's edible. But essentially it's art with the white icing then paint pictures on that (but the ones for sale are more like cute crowd pleasers and not edgy or anything). It has clean indoor bathrooms. No native plants or anything like that. Basically it's crafts not plants. It's really clean and most is in this shaded area. It's under a big roof barn like thing with most booths in that. Then some booths in the lot to the side. Honestly, could be super nice, but Mr. Jamtastic blasting to where can't have a conversation, including can't talk to vendors about there stuff is awful. Then the sunny spots is food trucks and pepper plants, which makes sense for outdoors but it is sunny and hot out in GA summer heat. This place would be a really nice place without the "DJ" piping loud music and can't have a conversation. It's nice facilities, then that guy messes it up. I would say if Mr. Jamtastic DJ wasn't there, this would be an awesome 5 star venue with nice bathrooms, amazing meat selection, and the set up balancing out me missing out on live plants and veg. If you want jam, pecans, prepped food, meat, and crafts it's awesome. Mr. Jamtastic blasting top 10 recorded music so loud you can't hear vendors makes it a dud, so 2 stars. If you gotta yell to ask prices and you can't hardly talk because all the shade has music blasting too loud, that's just no good. Also, I had been gonna sit and eat a cupcake in the shade, and I asked Mr. Jamtastic could he turn it down some, and he was like "oh yes", and then he turned it UP. So he is talentless blasting top 10 on speakers, not able to play live music because no talent, and passive aggressive and real mean about it. It's not just me, because there is a strip of grass between the barn thing and the parking lot on the other side away from Mr. Jamtastic and that's where most people were sitting with the car fumes and ants in the grass but away from loud.
