I was invited tonight as a plus one to join the yelp event for brassie bread and it truly was a celebration of food and it's origins! They had lamb on the spit, pizzas made with single origin wheat, Brasserie's famous single origin bread, and Australian wine, beer and cider. During the night they presented speeches telling us where the wheat comes from and why it tastes so good and why this bread is better for you than most! It comes from a single source grain that can be traced back to the farmer and the region where it was grown. Overall the night was amazing! The food was plentiful and flavorsome, the staff were kind and friendly, the bread truly was the hero of each dish. To top it off, there served an organic cordial served with real fruit (pear and blueberry was the favourite)! Tasty tasty tasty! read more

Every superhero has one thing in common a single origin story be it Spider-Man bitten by a radioactive spider , Superman coming of age and earth atmosphere activating his superpowers or Batman suffering great injustice and spending the rest of his life seeking vengeance. Brasserie Bread's superpower is owed to its single origin. The sourdough bread only requires three ingredients - Flour, water and salt. But any of these ingredients isn't good enough for the bread specialist. It needs to be the absolute best and they want to know exactly where it's grown to the very field. The source of this flour comes from Southern Flinders Ranges in South Australia. The bread was served up as sliders with Lamb and two kinds of different coleslaw. Both were equally delicious but credit to Brasserie Bread for making sure the Bread was the Batman of the mix, sorry Lamb your the Robin. The bread was like eating a cloud, so soft and sweet like a brioche bun. The bread was also served in cheese which was equally as scrumptious. The idea of serving cheese with honey never occurred to me. Killer combination that worked so well together. Brasserie Bread created a special pizza using only their single origin dough again. This was amazing and something I would definitely order as takeout if they considered it as an option as currently they don't do it. They kept the pizza basic with potato option as well as a cheesy one. Brasserie Bread also offer a wide range of drinks and cordials which were something different and special that would be nice for a picnic. The building is quite impressive and you can watch what happens from the very begging of the bread making process as its right here they make the bread and supply it to many cafes around NSW. It's a warehouse feel to the place but very beautiful and open. Brasserie Bread does indeed have the super power of making some of the damn beat bread I have ever tasted period. read more

You know what is good about the bread at Brasserie Bread? Everything! I went here and tried the Single Origin Sourdough and the Sprouted wheat and I fell in love. It was a quick courtship that lasted only a few hours but now it's official...I love the bread there. I find that because it is winter and I am Canadian which means I am constantly winging (and trying to be Australian) about the lack of central heating, the bread is the perfect accompaniment for a nice hearty soup. It is tasty enough on it's own but I like a bit of butter to add that bit of sparkle. I think that next time I make spinach dip, this will be the bread bowl I use. The texture is great, the bread has a nice thick crust but its fluffy inside and the flavour is marvellous. Plus they source local farmers which is a bonus and the guy who was telling us about the bread was very nice and knowledgeable so I support him too. Get on it! read more

Brasserie Bread - Sprouted wheat single origin bread! - Bakeries Near Me - Banksmeadow, NSW

Have only been here to taste their freshly made original sourdough's and sprouted wheat variety but alas they were delicious! Paired well with Pepe Saya butter! Just think about it - freshly baked bread with butter - it doesn't get any better than that! Unless you add some honey! :P The single origin wheat is sourced from the Southern Finders range. Matt who explained to us of how this began also noted that when they first started making the bread he could taste a 'mineraly' taste but then realised it was coming from the soil. All the good nutrients were being tasted in the bread. When people have that passion for what they do, it shows in the products they produce. Gotta love the passion and the stories that come with it. read more

Serving a broad array of flour and yeast, I don't think these people realise that putting a different sign in front of the same loaf of bread doesn't change the fact that the shit still tastes the same. Time and again, when I come here, I am faced with thoughts of where I can better spend my time. The staff here are meticulously managed by an incompetent and hot headed owner. I asked if they sold "any decent bread" and the owner replied "no, but I'm sure your whore of a mother does." I was disgusted, just because she works on the streets doesn't mean she's a whore. I said in outrage "it seems like your mother dropped you a couple of times you fucking drongo." He then proceed to grab his bread knife and slit his wrists in front of shocked customers. I have never been to such a disgusting, shameful business, I will never even think of coming back and I hope in time that people will realise how horrendous this place truly is. read more

Been here a few times to have a coffee and some bread when I've found myself in the area. I don't order anything extravagant to eat but just the bread sampler with butter and jam. The bread is great to just enjoy on it's own. They do a constant trade through the door and quite a few people pop in to pick up their bread and pastry needs. If you're coming on a weekday, take a little care parking and crossing the road. Trucks come thundering down this road on the way to and from Port Botany container port. read more

Fantastic bakery with a cute little cafe serving up breakfast and lunch. They specialise in pastries as well as loaves of every kind of bread imaginable (except white sliced of course). They also have a selection of artisan products (oils, preserves etc) for purchase and they offer baking masterclasses. I came to take part in the Art of Sourdough Class. I would really recommend it. It's an action packed 3 hours of hands on bread making, factory tour and tasting (wine and cheese included). You take home everything you bake, plus a loaf of the bakery's bread and a container of your sourdough dough to bake at home. At about $150 for the class it's really great value for the experience and the goodies. I'm keen to go back for their seeded breads course. read more

Look I make no apologies for writing a simple and short review for this place. Brasserie Bread is heaven. When I die, I don't want incense to mark my passage to the next world, I want the wonderful smell of roasted-garlic loaded loaves of sweet sweet bread filling the air. This place is Nirvana, and Utopia, and everything else in between. Beloved of the jet-set class of chefs here in Australia (Guilliame Brahimi, Tetsuya, Moran et. al.) and for good reason. Like bread? This is the place for you. Classes, sales, wholesale, and a cafe right there with bread related food. I can heartily recommend the garlic loaf; it's full of roasted garlic, and will fill any space with that lovely smell. There's also a good range of desserts in the bakery. The cafe is good for breakfast and lunch, there are some interesting dishes there along with classic bread breakfasts like toast soldiers and french toast. read more

Stopped in for lunch last week, disappointing, soggy beef brisket and slaw sandwich. Maybe it was waiting for a while in the kitchen veggie it was served? The slaw had soaked through the bread, making for a pretty unpleasant lunch. I left most of it uneaten. read more

If I had a soulmate in bakeries, Brasserie Bread would be the one. I actually went there for their gluten free baking class, but when I walked in, i couldn't have had lunch if I tried. Packed everywhere, with lines extending to the door, I knew I had to come back at a less peak time... whenever that is! A lovely atmosphere though with the scent of freshly baked bread penetrating every inch of the room! Following the baking class, I of course, took home a wide variety of different breads! But to choose just one or two is very difficult, so I am giving it my best shot :D Firstly, the mini brioche slider buns - So small, they fit in my palm but the crumb was fine and soft! Loved it! Secondly, the large loaf of rustic Italian Ciabatta bread - the loaf is by no means, small, it borders on extra large, But my brother and my dad finished 3/4 of it in a day. BAM. DEFINITELY go, splurge a little, and enjoy this award winning bakery! read more

Even though a bit of out of the way, it is worth coming here for the coffee and the breakfast. Coffee here is good, not amazing, but good. But you don't come here for the coffee, you come here for the bread and the pastries. If you are looking for something a bit out of the ordinary, try the sourdough pancakes. That's right sourdough pancakes - they are not sweet, but seriously worth the try. If you are looking for sweet, they have an array of different pastries baked right on the premises. Also, on your way out make sure you buy some absolutely awesome sourdough bread for home. One of the best sourdough breads that I've tried. Ps they also have baking classes! Just a warning, that this place is quite packed so come early, or be prepared to wait. read more

Sat down at a table at the café today and was given the most perfect cup of coffee. The first mouthful where one just sighs and instantly relaxes, the horror of the v-double trucks roaring along fade into insignificance. What I didn't realise till today was that my favourite bread, the Flinders Ranges Sprouted Wheat loaf has just won two prestigious awards. The RAS (Royal Agricultural Society) President's Medal and the NSW, Department of Industry Innovation Reward. This is the first time one company has won both awards. Obviously for once the judges realised what those of us know what have been eating the bread for years have always known and that the bread is a winner. In terms of breakfast, brunch and/or lunch I think I will have to keep on eating the trout, feta, sour dough bread with eggs or avocado for the rest of my life. If only the café was around the corner, sigh.!!! But that would not work as I'd be as big as a house considering that I have just eaten four slices of the bread I brought home today, with lashings of Pepe Saya butter. I was very strict with myself though and would not allow myself to add some of the fabulous apricot jam which the café sells. I'd like to congratulate everyone at Brasserie Bread for their wonderful effort in winning these awards. I hope you are very proud of yourselves for you certainly deserve to be. (And I still have some of today's loaf to have with vegemite for tomorrow's breakfast, what a lucky lass I am!) read more

Waiting for a mid-morning flight we decided to be adventurous and try somewhere new for breakfast. Worth the search, the appetising aromas as you approach, the kids doing the baking class and the eager faces of people waiting to be served told us we were on the right track. We just had bacon and egg paninis and coffee but it was all good. Perfect crust and soft inside showed the quality of their baked goods. We'll definitely be back. read more

I adore their croque Monsieur... I think it has a bechamel sauce in it. Obviously they have a great selection of bread. They also have great brioche buns for homemade burgers. We never have to wait for a table even though they do get busy and the coffee is good... They even have almond milk. read more

Amazing sourdough bread!! At $8 it is not cheap, but it's nice for a treat every now and then. Eaten dipped in olive oil, balsamic and/or dukkah is the best. It is also nice as part of a ham and cheese toastie. We also tried the Italian bread which was a bit like focaccia. It was also tasty but you need to eat it fairly quickly - I don't think they use any or many preservatives in their bread (a good thing!) - but it means it doesn't stay fresh for long. read more

A little bit out of the way for me, on a long stretch of lonely road, but when I have a pancake hankering - this is where I go. The sourdough pancakes are brilliant. Not sure if it's because of the sourdough but they're textually a little different to your typical 'light and fluffy'. In a really good way of course. I've tried some of their other dishes which are good (they have seriously amazing bread), but I really can't go past their pancakes. Hits the spot every single time. read more
