Have only been here to taste their freshly made original sourdough's and sprouted wheat variety but alas they were delicious! Paired well with Pepe Saya butter! Just think about it - freshly baked bread with butter - it doesn't get any better than that! Unless you add some honey! :P The single origin wheat is sourced from the Southern Finders range. Matt who explained to us of how this began also noted that when they first started making the bread he could taste a 'mineraly' taste but then realised it was coming from the soil. All the good nutrients were being tasted in the bread. When people have that passion for what they do, it shows in the products they produce. Gotta love the passion and the stories that come with it.

Good food & service to match. Can't complain about the coffee either & kid friendly. An excellent spot for weekend brunch. 4 stars.

Review Highlights - Brasserie Bread

But that would not work as I'd be as big as a house considering that I have just eaten four slices of the bread I brought home today, with lashings of Pepe Saya butter.

(Similar to my Surry Hills shop review)…read more Good old Bourke Street Cafe. If you live in Sydney east and you have never heard of this place; please start going out more! Located on 'Bourke Street'.... duh.... (actually there's also one on Gardeners Road as well, hence this review but they are basically the same! I go to both and I love'em both!!); it's an awesome Sat day brunch place with a few mates or actually nice enough to bring your better half for nice cup of coffee. Personally on a good Sunny Day, I wouldn't mind being there with a book while munching on a sausage roll. Yes Sausage rolls... You have to try them... they are not your Coles $5 for 30 rolls but gourmet lamb/beef/pork rolls which are superb. Their pies... oh mh.. their pies are sooo good! Always great variety, that you just gotta try them. Their dessert pastries are just divine as well! Ginger Brulee cannot be resisted! A must try - Carrot Cake! Believe me; you will love it! Great pastries; awesome coffee; love their smoothies/ice drinks; and excellent atmosphere. Imagine this. If can give a 5 star review to this place; purely based on Sausage rolls, carrot cakes; you know, simple stuff... how good it must have been! drools¬! Only down side - You really smell like pastry afterwards if you eat in.

A great spot for breakfast or lunch in the Mascot/ Alexandria area. Tasty savory and sweet…read morepastries, great coffee and excellent service.

Today ordered 5 rolls .. lady not friendly no smile no thanks …read more somehow its always the same lady serving me and never pleasant. rolls were very disappointing. salad roll no chilly but using the same tongs each time , you can taste chilly. pork roll .asked for coriander no shallots ,chilly got none.. Chicken rolls not much fillings. Not enough sauce. No pate . Still hungry . the quality is decreasing ..Hong Ha has becoming stingy with their fillings. money over quality. Won't go there again ..you need to get your acts together.

I'm a self confessed Hong Ha fan…read more What more can I say, I work in the airline industry, the love of Hong Ha is something you're taught whilst in training. Airline crew & airport staff often frequent the queue stretching down the footpath of Botany Rd & for good reason. I had my first taste of Hong Ha when I was training to be a flight attendant & we were doing an order for lunch, everybody wrote down that they'd have a roll "they're the best" our trainer said, so we all put our lunch money in & an order got phoned through like a school lunch order. When lunch time finally rolled around we had these crunchy Vietnamese Rolls packed with flavour it left me wishing I'd ordered a second one. It's a family run business, & run with great structure. Not unlike a character out of a Seinfeld episode, & if you're a Seinfeld fan I think you might just know what character I may be referring to. ;-) "no soup for you" The pork rolls are great, I have to confess I'm a chicken roll fan at Hong Ha & it's my standard order. Sometimes I order with Chilli & sometimes without. You can be sure that if you have it with chilli you'll need a few tissues handy for the runny nose that will follow. The chilli certainly packs a punch, so these days I more than often order without to be sure I can taste all the other great flavours in the roll. I love the pickled carrot, & the sauce that is squeezed over the roll makes for some extra deliciousness. I sometimes don't eat my roll until I get home, so if you're travelling with it & don't want a soggy roll from all the sauce you can ask for a sachet of sauce to go. Just add it later to prevent your bread roll ending up with a little sog by the time you get to eat it. After all the crunch of the roll is half the fun. Hong Ha opens at 6.30am, I know this, as I have been known to land after an all night flight & pop in there bleary eyed in my uniform to buy a chicken roll to eat when I get home. Don't be afraid of the queue's as they move quickly, & with great precision. Hong Ha sell other delights, & you can even pick up a loaf of bread while you're there. Just don't forget to try a Pork Roll or a Chicken Roll of you're passing by.
