Well, I'm from Brazil. When my husband told me about moving to Manila, I got sad at first because I would miss my family, friends, my dog, my cats and, of course, I would miss carnival.
How could a Brazilian survive without carnival? - that was the question.
After crying (drama queen), I made my husband promise we would always have carnival, wherever our home is. So we moved to the Philippines. Brazilian carnival came and I started to feel miserable with all those carnival pics popping on my Facebook timeline. Hey friends, I know you guys are having lots of fun, but there's no need to show off :p
I was in this envious mood when my husband told me he had an invitation to Brasilipinas! "What's that?, I asked. "That's Brazilian carnival! In the Philippines!".
Oh my God! So I would drink Caipirinha, eat pão de queijo, dance Samba and see a Capoeira group - all these wonderful things together??
Yep, that's Brasilipinas. It's a big party promoted by Mestre Fantasma, a Capoeira teacher who lives in Manila for a long time. Besides Capoeira and great Brazilian music, the highligh was the presentation of Imperatriz Filipinense, a true "Escola de Samba" (samba group) that combines the best of Brazilian soul with the filipino flavor!
Filipinos also know how to dance Samba! Wanna check it out? So GO to the next Brasilipinas! read more
