As a professional photographer, I often rent camera lenses and camera bodies. It's the best and…read moreleast expensive way to try out new equipment before purchasing it. I'm really glad to have this place so close to home. They also ship equipment for those who are out of town, but I love the convenience of being able to pick up and drop off locally. The staff is friendly, and you can reserve your equipment online or over the phone. You can pick your equipment up after 3 PM the day before and it's due before noon the day after. My only complaints are the parking and no straps for the camera bodies. The parking situation is a bummer, but you can usually find somewhere to park in the street while you run in and grab your equipment as long as you don't stay there long. When I rented a camera body a couple weeks ago, they didn't include a camera strap which is just asking me to drop it. I primarily shoot with my 70-200mm, and that thing is just too heavy to constantly carry in my hand and worry about dropping. They need to include neck straps with the body rentals.

Chevalier Productions is just that. I recently went in to check out their nice selection of guitars and basses on their sales floor and was given a tour of their warehouse. Their inventory is staggering. They specialize in production services and rental and sales of sound and lighting gear for any performance from one-man acts in a bar to large arenas. Not only that, they also have highly-trained, talented techs and sales associates. Go to any event of any size in the area and you'll see Chevalier trucks and trailers in the parking lot. Locals amateurs and visiting celebrities alike have relied on these guys for flawless support of their shows. Need service for an ancient tube-type amp or a state-of-the-art mixing board? Ask for Chris. His state-wide reputation as a repair wizard is well-deserved. He and the rest of the staff have earned a great reputation of making sure the customer gets exactly what he or she needs and let the other guys shoot themselves in the foot trying to upsell and money-grab.
