First off, a friend of mine had found Meg's work off of Instagram and suggested that I reach out to her. Mind you, I was planning an "enchanted elopement" in less than a week and a half. Luckily, since it was an elopement -- we were pretty flexible and so was Meg! My husband and I had never been to Hawaii so we knew nothing about the islands or Kauai. I tried to research as much I could but was a bit overwhelmed. Meg was more than happy to make suggestions on different vendors, location and what was the best time for shooting. We settled for Ke'e Beach. I am so glad she suggested that because it provided us different types of photos -- jungle, beach, sunset, etc. The timing was also perfect for a natural lighting with the sun and waves. Meg's overall presence and personality matched ours, too. From previous photographers I have dealt with (from my family & friend's weddings), she did not push us to do things we weren't comfortable with. She was so laid back! Also, we aren't the most romantic and subtle type of couple. We are the loud and silly type. She was able to capture us perfectly in the photos! After she spent about 3 hours with us, we went our separate ways. Then a couple of hours later, I received a few sneak peak photos!! How awesome is that! I got the remainder of my photos in less than two weeks. She took more than she had promised too! Now, I want to add that I am in the film & tv industry. From the words of everyone in my industry, WOW! They said that I picked the perfect person for my photos and loved her artistic eyes. We are so glad we went with Meg & Pete. I just wanted some simple couple and family pictures. I read all the Yelp reviews, and even though Keith was not the first photographer I reached out to, in my opinion, he was the best for us. He was quick, responsive, professional and made everything so easy. I never even had to give the shoot a second thought. He suggested a beautiful location and confirmed day before shoot. All those little things matter! On the day of the shoot, the island had bad traffic. I messaged Keith because we were going to be late. Again, there was a quick response, and he was understanding and was willing to wait for us. When we finally arrived, he was smiling and still was not rushing us. I can't believe no one has written about Brian on Yelp! When planning my wedding, he was the best…read morechoice I made! After 10 years of experience working as a wedding and event planner, I thought planning my own elopement/wedding in a month would be easy. I should have known better... The wedding planner I hired was trouble from the start and actually argued with me over my selection of Brian for our wedding (she recommended her husband's business to me). However, from his website alone, I could tell that Brian was the photographer for us! The colors popped, the images he captured were absolutely gorgeous and all of his brides and grooms looked relaxed in front of the camera. In each image, reality was heightened just enough to make the wedding day look magical and almost fairy-tale-like. That is exactly what I look for in a wedding photographer. Sure enough, Brian was the perfect choice! Not only was he the only person we could reliably contact, but he was there to help out when our wedding planner went missing. It was pouring rain on our wedding day, so we needed to come up with a Plan B for our beach location quickly. Brian's sparkling reputation at the hotel helped us out with persuading them to allow us to do the ceremony on property. Plus he ran out to retrieve our officiant from the beach (only the missing wedding planner had a cell phone number for him). Brian was helpful, relaxed, friendly and professional. During the ceremony, he snapped shots without being intrusive. Even so, he got such lovely, intimate moments. After the ceremony, the fun began! He directed us and encouraged us to just be ourselves. Between the rain and the darkening sky, the light was challenging, but he managed to capture the scenery boldly and dramatically. In the end, Brian encouraged me to drop my dress into the water for some romantic shots. My husband and I laughed, as this was the one thing I did not want to do. Yet, somehow, Brian persuaded me. I am so grateful we were able to have it captured in the most perfect way by Julian and Addy. I was in a car accident less than one month after our wedding and my memory of everything is a little fuzzy now, but these videos of our wedding help me remember the joy I felt in happiest moment of my life- marrying my husband. Super delayed review, but better late than never? :) My husband and I were fortunate enough to have…read moreworked with Julian last November for our wedding. From our initial contact with his wife, Addy, through the receipt of our final video package in the mail, Julian and his team completely blew us away. Our big day took place at Lanikuhonua Cultural Institute on Oahu. It was clear from the outset that Julian and his crew had filmed there a gazillion times. They knew exactly where all the good spots were, took amazing shots of us, and also incorporated some stunning (and well-timed!) footage of our silhouettes at sunset, waves crashing against the shore, etc. The crew was also really mindful of creating symmetry in the video. When my bridesmaids and I were on our way out of the bridal suite, we were on a tight schedule and debating whether we had time to do a quick champagne toast. One of Julian's camera dudes commented that the groomsmen did a whiskey toast so it would be good if we did our champagne one. And so we did, and boy, did it look good on film when they cut the footage back to back! Their skill was especially evident when they played our same day edit (SDE) at our reception for us and our guests. Within seconds of the SDE playing, my eyes started welling up with tears. They had done such a beautiful job of capturing the many emotions we were feeling that day that I couldn't hold it in! We were already so impressed by their portfolio and knew their videos were amazing, but the end result was still so much more than we could've ever hoped for. We got countless compliments from friends and family about how much they liked our SDE, how well it captured our special day, and how they were impressed by how fast Julian and his team worked. One of my bridesmaids loved their work so much that she asked Julian to come out to San Francisco to film her wedding this year, too! Several months after our wedding, we received our final package with all the footage of the ceremony, reception, first dance, cake cutting, speeches, bouquet, and garter toss. The quality was superb and the footage well cut. One year later on our anniversary, we sat down and watched it all again. We loved going through all the videos and reliving one of the best days of our lives together. And a year later, despite having watched the SDE a whole bunch of times throughout the year, when we watched it again, I still teared up. :) In all honesty, I watch that one the most often, and it never ceases to give me the feels. He took us to a beautiful pretty much private beach on Kauai with a gorgeous backdrop of trees, ocean, rocks and that gave a great variety to our pictures. We highly recommend having Jake as your photographer when you're on Kauai. He has a very quick turnaround for your pictures, even surprised us when he used a drone to give us a beautiful overview picture and he made a wonderful slideshow with music for us of all the photos he took.
