I'm a runner who's been experiencing some ankle pain for a couple weeks. I went to some free runner's clinics in the area and hadn't found a solution. I went to the Ann Arbor Foot & Ankle Clinic to finally figure it out. I was able to get an appointment quickly, the staff was helpful and the office was clean and nice. Dr. Seel was great-- he took one look at my feet and explained what the problem was and his recommendations. He was friendly and helpful and not condescending. He did his best to keep my costs low and went out of his way to try to work with my insurance. I ended up getting some molds of my feet and he rushed the orthopedic so i could return to running sooner. Dr. Seel is a runner himself and knows how important it is to us runners. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. I have found my podiatrist in the Ann Arbor area for my foot & ankle needs. I have thought awhile about this review. I received a bill yesterday for $8 and was threatened with collections if I didn't pay that $8 within 10 days. What is ridiculous is that this money is more then 120 days overdue because the first bill that I got for this $8 came yesterday. That made me aggravated enough to share this review. I had had ongoing foot pains for years because I'm a nurse who spends 12 hour shifts on my feet. I went to this office first for a nail avulsion but also because I was wrapping one foot in lidocaine patches to deal with the pain. First sign of trouble...taking a picture of my feet with an iPad to provide me with orthotics. This seems to be a questionable practice because while my knee is on a rolling stool for the image to be made I'm not bearing weight on the foot. Who needs orthotics to be non-weight bearing? The orthotics eventually came and were basically mirror images of each other. This is wrong on a few levels which I will explain now. I picked up the orthotics and left with them, and at that point a reception staff tried to schedule me with a future appointment. Made some vague threat about insurance not paying if I don't return. It is my right not to return and you cannot try to scare me with that threat for future visits. X-rays were taken of my feet at one visit. Nothing found even though I was wearing pieces of lidocaine patch on my plantar foot side, my dorsal foot and along my arch. X-rays found nothing per report from staff. I will say that the nail avulsion done worked out fine. I saw this office on my way to a local academic medical facility. Once I started being treated at academic medicine my X-rays continued to show nothing but an MRI showed a whole lot. Multiple stress fractures, osteopenia, partially torn ligaments it was a disaster. Maybe I would have ended up with an MRI from this office eventually. Both my spouse and I had noticed the large lump on the dorsal aspect of my R foot. The new DPM immediately saw it, and although looking for a ganglion cyst (which was not found) did find a host of other problems. So I'm giving 2 stars for the nice avulsion, other stars are lacking due to billing and not noticing the lump on my foot that led to a MRI which showed how much trouble I was really having. Flash forward...much PT, and now being treated with IV infusions for osteopenia with unexplained fractures which equaled an osteoporosis diagnosis. The crazy part of the mirror image orthotics is that my R foot is a bit longer and definitely wider then my L foot that does not have any fractures. My R foot swells at times and I have to buy my shoes a 0.5 size larger to accommodate my R foot. The orthotics really should look quite different from each other but maybe that is just the style from this office. I Saw Doctor Seel years ago for plantar fasciitis snd had no complaints. However, in May i went to see him for ankle pain and severe foot pain. He took xrays and nothing was broken. He said I had a bunion forming and some arthritis and to wear stability shoes and inserts. I had told him that I could not kick a soccer ball without it feeling like my foot was shattering and i was waking in the middle of the night in excruciating pain. I didnt know a lot about bunions so I thought maybe that was the problem, having not been given any other explanation. I tried for some time with exercises and toe spreaders to relieve the pain but finally went to a different podiatrist, got an MRI, and found out in addition to injured ankle ligaments, I have a Lisfranc joint injury which is causing my extreme pain. I feel like had I been listened to I may already have been treated and recovered from this but now I'm looking at 4 to 6 weeks non load bearing and pt which will hopefully resolve the situation. read more

Worst experience in my life. I can no longer walk barefoot anymore because of this man, and I am trying to manage pain everyday as well. I can't do the things I normally do any more like run or even power walk for more than 10 minutes because of him. My poor children. I went into his office to inquire about a bone spur. He immediately suggested I shave it. It only hurt when I wore tight shoes. Other than that, I was the most active person. He sold me a dream about how I would wear so many shoes after the procedure of shaving it. Like the naive girl I was, I actually believed him. He said I would be back on my feet in a month, ha! I often ask myself, how many women has this man taken advantage of? He even asked me if I wanted to fuse my joints together with a screw. OMG. What would I want to do that? After the procedure, I took my boot off and cried ad told him I couldn't walk. He just shrugged his shoulders and played dumb. This man is so evil. He had no explanation for anything but instead offered a cortisone shot. I am crippled and in pain every day because of this man. I hope his family finds this review one day so they could know the truth about this man that has multiple personalities. read more

On 4/10 I went to an urgent care following a sudden acute pain and swelling in my right heel and my inability to put any weight on it. I was given crutches and was diagnosed with Plantar Faciitis but they suggested I see a Podiatrist to be sure. On 4/11 I went to see Dr. bradley Seel at Arbor-Ypsi foot & Ankle Center. He stated I didn't need crutches, had me stand barefeet to evaluate my feet, and immediately diagnosed me with Plantar Faciits and suggested a series of Cortisone shots as one of the treatment options, which I declined. After researching my symptoms online, I found what I had wasn't just PF, so I made him aware of my findings/concerns at which he laughed and insisted my diagnosis was just PF but had me go in again on 04/18 so he could order an MRI. His office didn't request urgent auth eventhough they knew I was in so much pain and was unable to walk. Finally after going back and forth everyday with my insurance and his office I found out insurance denied auth request for MRI due to lack of medical necessity on the 24th. In order to prove his diagnosis wrong I had to get an MRI done (self pay) which I did on the 25th. MRI results came back showing I had a torn fascia which proves I was misdiagnosed by Dr. Seel. Had I agreed to get the Cortisone shots he suggested, my torn fascia could have gotten much worse. Thanks to another doctor, now I know I should not be putting any weight on my foot and should only be walking with crutches, something he told me I did not need to use. Dr. Seel could have easily verified my diagnosis with an ultrasound which could have been performed on the spot without needing a prior auth from insurance, but he did not care to do so even after finding out my insurance denied the auth request. Had he done this, I would have been correctly diagnosed much sooner without having to go through all the hassle. This doctor just wasted my time, money and energy not to mention risking my health and physical/emotional wellbeing. I do NOT recommend him to anyone! read more

Amazing foot doctor, did a great job taking care of my foot problem. His staff were equally amazing and helpful.

I admit that it has been a few years since I've seen Dr. Seel, but I've always wanted to rate him because my experience was so horrible. He spent very little time with me at multiple appointments and was very rushed. Most importantly, he was extremely condescending; I've never experienced anything like it. When I told him that the fungus on my toenails was starting to go away on its own, he literally patted my knee and said, "I'm not calling you a liar, but that never happens." I was speechless. In addition, he decided to remove the nail from my large toe and when I got home I was in so much pain I thought I was going to vomit, so I called him for some pain killer; he made it clear that he found it hard to believe I had any pain at all and acted as though I was bothering him (but he did prescribe me the pain killer). I told my primary physician (who had referred him to me) to not refer anyone to Dr. Seel in the future. read more

The office is generally overbooked so you need to wait a long time before you're seen. This is typical but what's unique is that when it's finally your turn, Dr. Seel is impatient and distracted. I had ankle pain after a severe sprain and he was more concerned with documenting the details of my accident than examining my foot. He wouldn't even touch my foot! He insisted that just by looking at my foot, I would need more p/t and I needed to go to a runner's clinic. Instead of examining my pain, he immediately refers me to yet another place, even though I had already went through the rigorous (and expensive) physical therapy. When I asked more questions about my foot, he asked me sarcastically "what do you think is wrong with it?" He said "Li, if you said you had pain in your tibial nerve (or something like), I would give you a shot of cortisone. But you didn't. So I'm real curious about what you expect from today's visit." He usually speaks to me in this rude and condescending manner. I've seen Dr Steel several times over the course of three years. He's had ample opportunity to turn the tide. I rarely give 1 star and I feel badly for doing so, but I'm simply treated like an inconvenience in his busy schedule. I would not recommend him at all. I was referred to Dr. Seel for two broken toes, and I saw him for my second appointment yesterday. He's amazing! He's well-organized and really listens and gives you his full attention; and he's very down-to-earth and practical. I'm glad to give him a great review and would recommend him without hesitation. read more

If you want a GOOD podiatrist that truly CARES and most importantly, does a GREAT job then keep looking, this is not the place you are looking for! I am surprised to read such a good review about him, I really wonder if I saw the same person. He was very arrogant to the point of rudeness, his explanations made no sense and were clearly money oriented . I felt like crying after I left his practice, seriously. I have an ongoing problem with ingrown toenails and need to see a podiatrist regularly so I know what to expect...and he was truly bad, the job was unfinished and a couple of weeks later I had to make an appointment with someone else to get the job done. How sad is that!! I am glad I found another Dr. that treats people fairly and I dont plan to ever go back there and would not recommend this practice to anyone. read more

One of the stranger medical appointments that I've experienced. On the plus side, the wait time was not too, too long. The doc fixed what needed to be fixed. On the minus side, some of the staff were a little weird -- as if there was way too much caffeine or medicine consumption that am. Also, some guy wandered past the staff into the back office off of the street. I don't know what he was doing there before the doc forcibly removed him into the parking lot, where he climbed into a white van. "This has got to be best Foot Doctor in Michigan by far. Arbor-Ypsi Foot & Ankle Center is great and my foot is doing fantastic now. I had plantar fasciitis and went to my family doctor. He said just rest it and take some Motrin. That did not help at all! Went to see Dr. Seel and he had several conservative treatments for me to do short of surgery. I am at 100% now just following what he advised I do and getting a couple of cortisone shots. If you have this problem get yourself to Dr. Brad Seel's office ASAP." read more
