My usual office is the La Mesa office (4 of us in my house are patients!), but I've came here too! Dr Asbury is kind, thorough, and always a happy dude! They have always been honest with me about the process and financial commitment along the way. Even when I brought kiddos in before they were ready, they were honest about that too. I've been to this office to get in for some of my emergency appointments when one of us have had a pokey wire (because they are just so dang good those teeth sometimes move real quick!). The staff is great, and they're always on time. I definitely recommend them! Plus... I have gold braces! My sister who lives in Portland is so jealous! Her orthodontist didn't offer her gold! No doubt I'm sure this Dr is skilled. But i felt a bit ripped off by the whole experience. I came for Invisalign, and I'm told with confidence that I'm a candidate, so I decide to do the X-ray to SEE the end results simulation, and paid the $250 for it. Nobody reached out to me at the 2 week mark, so I emailed. (The manager took days to a week to reply to some of our exchanges which is unprofessional in my view ). Then I was told that my case was difficult and that the Dr. needed more time and X-rays. The verdict was that I wasn't an easy candidate for Invisalign and had to pull one tooth, and that braces were best for me. Fine. Thing is, I never saw the end result simulation either. My feeling overall was that I was a burden and a number which could bring money to the business. That's unfortunate. read more

I am hoping I just got hold of the after hours staff but the woman I spoke to was horribly rude and abrupt! At one point I didn't even now if anyone was on the phone, I had to ask my question over again, she was very sullen. I really needed an orthodontist, too! read more

Awesome, Incredible, professional and fun are just a few ways to describe my experience with Dr. Hirsh and his staff. From the moment I brought my son for his first visit I felt I could trust Dr. Hirsh. Dr. Hirsh was very thorough in explaining the hows and whys of the treatment plan. He was very good at answering all my dumb and not so dumb questions. It's not easy for a young child to get braces, but Dr. Hirsh and his staff took their time with my son and let him get comfortable with them and what they where doing. They made his experience the best I could have hoped for. His transformation was simply amazing. My younger daughter also needed bracess so with out a second thought I brought her to Dr. Hirsh. I love this orthodontist, I drive from Chula Vista to the San Carlos office and it was well worth it. I had been to a very popular local orthodontist and they said my daughter needed like 2 years of treatement and every appliance known to man. I've been going to Braces San Diego for my whole treatment of braces and surgery. They deserve more stars than the ones allotted on the site. "Creating confidence with smiles" could not be more fitting. I started going to Dr. Hirsh when I was 16, after many years of never showing my teeth while making any facial expression. After going to several orthodontists and being told I need multiple surgeries and was going to be in braces for a minimum of four years, I found the wonderful Gary Hirsh. And after less than two years of treatment and one minor surgery, I actually had a smile for the first time in my life. A smile to be proud of. It's been over two years since I finished my treatment and I still thank the perfectionist that made it all possible. The office in La Jolla is lovely. With parking outside and video games and coffee inside, they have covered all the bases of a pleasant experience for everyone. Very friendly staff, and very friendly and talented orthodontist. Dr. Asbury has been my daughters and now my son's orthodontist for the past several years. He took over Dr. Hirsch's practice with grace and ease and hasn't skipped a beat. My daughter had a very rare issue with her teeth coming in during her orthodontia. She had to go through some minor surgeries and 2 1/2 years of wearing braces! Now with her braces off, and a radical smile, all the credit goes to Dr. Asbury and his recommendations. Dr. Asbury had many delicate decisions to make regarding my daughters situation as it was rare like I said. He had only seen one other like it in all his years of practice. So his recommendations were very sensitive and he made them as if my girl were his own daughter. I was so thankful for this and it gave me so much confidence, as well as my daughter. The staff is incredibly friendly and truthfully I have not dealt with one so friendly and helpful and accommodating as in this office. I have completed my Invisalign treatment from Dr. Hirsh and my teeth are pretty and straight. That's the simple truth of it. That's what any person interested in Invisalign should expect at the very least. What can differ is your experience with who you choose to get treatment from. My experience was top notch and I couldn't have been happier with Dr.Hirsh. I found Dr.Hirsh on the Invisalign website as a Preferred Provider who was also an Orthodontist. You want someone properly trained, right? I wanted an Orthodontist because they specialize in the movement of teeth...which is not the specialty of a Dentist. My friends who have had Invisalign from a different Dr. were sent home with an entire box of trays and left to their own devices. They also only saw the Dr. for the first exam to get approved for Invisalign and each following appointment was only seen by the dental assistant. Not what I was looking for. Each of my appointments, I was examined by Dr.Hirsh to check if trays were fitting properly before moving on to the next set of trays. The office could have every chair filled by patients, but he is able to make his rounds to each one and answer questions or concerns, without one feeling rushed. The office is well organized in terms of scheduling and I felt customer service was a top priority. If I had a child who needed braces, I would send them to Dr. Hirsh. He really cares about the quality of work he can provide you. He has a cool calm demeanor that I think would resonate with children and make the experience less scary. There is parking on the side of the building and I have always been able to find a spot. The staff is friendly and welcoming and well trained in what they do. I highly recommend going in for a consultation if you are in the market for Invisalign. read more

Braces San Diego is the best and only place I'd recommend to friends/family/complete strangers. I have two "children" now ages 19 and 17 who went through two different experiences with braces. My eldest went to "the best" in another office. We were new to the orthodontist life. It wasn't so good for the 3 years of this experience, but she ended up with a beautiful smile, nonetheless, and she's done. Second child went to Braces San Diego in La Jolla. Dr. Asbury and staff are unbelievable! The care and feedback to patients and parents is comforting. Instead of being left "on hold ", not knowing when, if things/results were taking place, I, as a parent was totally confident and comforted to know my child was being looked after (appointments and health-wise) for the long haul. If i could, I'd give them 6 stars. If we'd only known about this office beforehand, we'd have had a much better orthodontist experience across the board. I started my treatment with Dr. Hirsh when I was only seven years old. In fact, all five of us went to him for our orthodontics. Dr. Hirsh is hands-down the best orthodontist in town. Four out of the five of my siblings have a very rare cross bite condition and he is one of the few orthodontists skilled enough to properly correct the condition. My niece, who has the same cross bite problem, went to a different orthodontist and it is painfully obvious that she did not receive the proper course of treatment. I cannot say enough about the professionalism of his staff either. I hope he is still practicing when my children need braces. I can already see the cross bite in my youngest! read more
