Should be ashamed. The toilets are rank and smoke detectors beeping everywhere. Avoid. Deffo don't come back

A brilliant idea really, sticking an M&S simply food into a 24 hour petrol station, and one that's…read moreon the way to and from two universities, one of which has a 24 hour library. Filling your car up's expensive but it was never as expensive as this before was it. I mean at most usually a trip to the petrol station meant a cheeky Boost bar, or a Kinder Surprise for when your feeling a little bit crazy, but it didn't ever mean a super food salad, with fresh king prawns, or a large Sushi platter for around a fiver. In my experience, parents/elders/guardians/drivers become unusually generous around petrol stations, and always at least buy something there. My tip would be to lure whoever is your applicable person above, take them here, then just as they're paying for petrol throw down something ridiculously expensive and riduclously tasty onto the counter. They wont fail to buy it, and you'll all go home a happier, better person, I promise...

Oh M&S... You fowl temptress!…read more Surrounded on all sides by better value establishments, this BP garage/ Marks & Spencer thrives on its 24 hour license and perfectly central location, floating by Lewes road Sainsbury and entwined in the one way system. Aside from having a night life saving cash point outside, there's little to recommend about this particular all night corner store... Everything from Doritoes and Dr. Pepper to custard creams suffers from hugely unnecessary prices... Just planning to get to Sainsbury before it closes, or stretching your legs another two minutes down the road will lead you to a far more wallet friendly store... With Alcohol! The service is perfectly friendly, and the fact it seems to be open every minute of the day means you'll find yourself weaving reluctantly between the parked cars to enter the store on more than one occasion.

A small but useful branch of Tesco Express, or should that be petrol station with small store…read moreattached? Most people come here to buy petrol (as do I) as it's cheaper than most places around here. Dyke Road is one of the main arteries into Brighton from the A27 and leads straight into the centre. The shop is great for essentials, but the range is inevitably limited. The filling station side is a franchise, so you can't use your Tesco Clubcard when you petrol. The shop is often busy with both shoppers and people buying petrol, and the queues are a nuisance is your car / bike is sitting at the pump while you are in a queue. (There's not much room to pull forward to let others in behind). One big bonus is that it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The store has toilets with baby changing facilities, a cash-point and level access. The main downside is that the forecourt is way too small given how popular it is, so people often queue back down the road. It's also on a busy junction with traffic lights, so getting in and out is a bit of a pain (getting out to turn right back into Brighton can be a nightmare).
