My Yelp search said the nearest was 8 miles away. I was driving along and missed the BP in Gaston, so I kept my eyes a little wider open. Fortunately, Matthews, Indiana has a BP too, so I pulled in. The covered four (I think that's the right number) bay pump area was clean and had modern pumps that were easy to use for outside payment. There were no fueling or receipt problems at all. As I was finishing, a man came out of the convenience store and asked if everything was working okay. I don't know if he was a manager there or just being friendly, because he got in another car on the corner and left. Seems unusual, but made me feel more welcome in a small town. Hopefully, if more Yelpers set up the gas stations they visit on their travels, we can find gas stations more easily. Review #2545

However, instead of fish and chips they do Hoosier port tenderloins. They also do fries, fried fish, and gas station pizza. This place is legendary in ECI for its tenderloin. So I had to give it a try. Unfortunately what I got was dried out meat and breading that was a bit stale. The flavor, though, was promising. I think that maybe if I got a fresh one, it would be better. Really the entire rating of this place comes down to how good the tenderloin is. If I come back here and get a 5-star tenderloin, it will get a five-star rating.

But I was intrigued, so figured I'd check it out. Now I had no idea what Leo's offered until I went in. Think gas station/convenience store offering locally made food items, freshly prepared bowls/drinks and kolaches. Second guilty admission: never had a kolache. The nice woman behind the counter helped me choose (they were buy one, get one free)! So I chose one egg and cheese, and one spinach and cheese. They were warmed in an oven while I went to grab a coffee and use the restroom, which was very clean and well-stocked. Pro tip: if you want a latte or another specialty coffee, order at the counter. If you want to make your own, go to the coffee bar. It's less expensive, plus they have a variety of sweeteners, Torani syrups, and assorted creamers (including plant-based). The cash register employee let me know when they were ready to go, and my grand total was less than $6. I picked up a few hot sauce packets from the condiment bar and sat down in the dining area to eat. The kolache itself is essentially a small, light sandwich. The bread was soft, with a hint of sweetness. The egg and cheese combo was perfect for my light lunch! I had a bite of the spinach and cheese kolache before I left, which was even more flavorful and cheesy! Can't wait to have it tomorrow morning. We always stop at this Shell station in Noblesville for fuel, snacks, and a *gotta go* stop. It's at about the halfway point and it's easy to get to from the expressway. This station is always clean and most things are well stocked. They have a very large selection of snacks and beverages, and more soft drink choices than you thought were possible. The restrooms (and this is not the kind of thing you normally call out in a review) are very sharply decorated. The black and white restroom decór evokes something vintage or classic, and it's very distinct. They used to carry the Jalapeño Steak & Cheese Hot Pocket. Every time we stopped I'd buy everything I could get my hands on. Sadly, they no longer carry The Best Hot Pocket, but I don't hold that against this location...much. The staff is always friendly and courteous, and the prices are amazingly reasonable for being located right off the freeway. This is a great place to stop on your way through, so put it on your radar the next time you're driving by.
